The old pub now has less than 10 posts to go, so I thought I'd start a new one. The old one can be found here

This is a place for feminist pom pom waving and talking about stuff which might not need a thread for itself.

Fill your boots.

On a different note, another Mortifying Dickhead VFXDad appears to be having a conversation with himself (at Wed 10-Sep-14 15:03:34), under the pseudonym TerrariaMum in the last 4 posts Grin.

MortifyingDickhead · 11/09/2014 07:10

Couldn't resist Grin

WinifredTheLostDenver · 11/09/2014 07:15

Back to me again though.

Zazzles007 · 11/09/2014 07:38

LOL Winifred

PetulaGordino · 11/09/2014 08:00

Tuck that one away for another time Winnie Grin

TerrariaMum · 11/09/2014 09:27

No, Zazzles, sorry, that's me. I'm just mulling things over. I don't actually disagree with anything you have posted and I thought your tomb raider analysis was very good and insightful.

I mainly lurk, but the games issue I dared to post on. If you look up thread, you will see I mentioned that I was going to woman up and post there.

I really don't want to be mistaken for a sockpuppet so I must have posted really badly to make you think that. I'm sorry.

Terrible article here, not focusing on the woman who wants to go to Mars - but the whole article is about her husband and stepchildren,

WinifredTheLostDenver · 11/09/2014 09:37

I know you're real, Terraria!

PetulaGordino · 11/09/2014 09:42

oh bless you terrariamum! i'm sure it's just a misunderstanding

Zazzles007 · 11/09/2014 09:59

Ah, no worries TerrariaMum. 'Tis quite eventful here lately Grin.

PenguinsIsSleepDeprived · 11/09/2014 10:22

Oh dear. See this is what these mad MRA's do to us. Don't stop posting Terraria! I know nothing about games so can't follow that discussion at all. I think the last computer game I played was SuperMario for Game Boy!

StormyBrid · 11/09/2014 10:42

Have just read the rest of That Thread. Cannot stop sniggering at the idea of some poor little man complaining to all and sundry that his right to abortion is being denied. Grin

scallopsrgreat · 11/09/2014 11:45

Hmmm. The Pistorius trial. Murder just ruled out apparently. Fucking hell how do these abusive men get away with it.

Zazzles007 · 11/09/2014 13:37

I don't know. Poor Reeva...

PetulaGordino · 11/09/2014 13:41

if she can't rule premeditated or common murder, it has to be culpable manslaughter, surely??

scallopsrgreat · 11/09/2014 14:10

Yes culpable homicide is still on the table I think.

TessOfTheFurbyvilles · 11/09/2014 14:20

Culpable homicide is still on the table, and from her comments towards the close of today, it seems almost certain she will be finding him guilty on that charge.

PetulaGordino · 11/09/2014 14:20

culpable homicide, that's what i meant

TessOfTheFurbyvilles · 11/09/2014 14:21

Sorry I took some text out, that had "the judge" in, and forgot to replace the first she with "the judge's".

So it should read, "from the judge's comments towards..."

Thanks Petula

I quite like SR's own novels too!

scallopsrgreat · 11/09/2014 16:50

Hold me back and stop me posting on some bloke's thread in Relationships the he's not a special snowflake and to step up and look after his children in the morning. Oh and perhaps leave your wife to find someone who does respect her . I've a low tolerance level for crap today. How come do women manage to find a way round their jobs and looking after children yet it seems to be beyond a man to have a shower, get ready for work and also get the children ready. Their lives can really not be inconvenienced can they?

PetulaGordino · 11/09/2014 16:59

i'm pretty sure that's why my dad used to leave for work at 6.30am (he worked 10 mins away). his reasoning was that it allowed him get a headstart before colleagues got in and ad-hoc stuff came up (and i'm sure it did), but i suspect he didn't want to have to get involved in sorting out children for school. now that we've all left home he leaves for work at 8am!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 11/09/2014 17:00

It was funny that at the beginning of that Mars story the husband is quoted saying "Like any good red-blooded American male, at first I thought this was all about me. I thought: you're leaving me." Where could he have possibly got the idea that that was the important bit?! I wonder.

I like that he's so proud of her, though.

Some of you got to enjoy me asking something along these lines the other day: do you think men explicitly/implicitly demand emotional caretaking from their partners? Because it's always phrased as if it's something women just lay on, unasked, and then (sometimes) come to resent. But thinking over past relationships I can think of arguments near the beginning that have basically came down to: "I have these issues and expect you to talk them over with me endlessly or you are a callous sod," which basically put me onto having to prove my "niceness" and listen/support.

Not seen that thread scallops. Sounds dire.
