Right, thought I'd better start a new pub. I warn you, my knowledge of Roman numerals conks out shortly after this one, so either buffy will have to start the next thread, or we'll have to go Arabic.

Everyone is welcome in - if you want to chat, or just jump in with a question/link/gin, please do. Smile Especially if it's too small for a thread or you don't feel up to thread-starting.

The old thread has, at my count, about 9 posts to go, and it was here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/2126791-Feminist-Pub-VIII-not-as-prolific-as-the-Swaggerers-but-there-are-cushions-and-consciousness?

We were just chatting about feministy light reading, and will doubtless meander onto other topics shortly. Smile

Oh crap.

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/08/2014 11:13

30 hours of study! Shock He must know everything about being a woman then. > You know, some of my colleagues know more than that - they live with a woman!

LRDtheFeministDragon · 19/08/2014 11:33

Shock Really?!

Some of mine have ... whisper it ... lived as women for upwards of twenty, thirty, or even fifty years!

ABlandAndDeadlyCourtesy · 19/08/2014 11:34

I have

ABlandAndDeadlyCourtesy · 19/08/2014 11:35

I have personally been a woman

ABlandAndDeadlyCourtesy · 19/08/2014 11:35
LRDtheFeministDragon · 19/08/2014 11:38

See, being a woman for long periods of time is harmful to your health.

True. Sad

I feel I must point out your feminine little brain didn't quite cram enough unnecessary long words into that explanation, though, buffy.

Should we get back to talking about how people feel about abortion and why women should shut up and listen to 'people'?

30 hours wow! Well if we all start being feminists now we'll have caught up to him by tomorrow tea time. Let's go girls!

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/08/2014 12:09

7Days Grin But have we got the brains for it? You know you need a male brain.

7Days · 19/08/2014 12:17

On a totally separate topic, am thrilled with my new anti-d's. I feel like myself again for the first time in ages. So just an ironic sadface for a change!

PetulaGordino · 19/08/2014 12:21

That is good news 7days!

7Days · 19/08/2014 12:23

I know, I'm so lucky Smile

PetulaGordino · 19/08/2014 12:24

I am laughing at that twitter thing plus responses on here

DoctorTwo · 19/08/2014 13:35

Sometimes I think myself lucky the Twitters annoys me enough to have deleted my account. Then something entertaining happens and I get interested enough to almost start another account. Hopefully a blow by blow account will be on Sarah Ditum's blog later. I look forward to a good chuckle. :o

LRDtheFeministDragon · 19/08/2014 13:43

7, can I be nosy and ask which one? No worries if you prefer not to say, just shopping around.

Just had a conversation with DP about the concept of TERF etc

He pointed out that Nursie in Blackadder is risking being called a TERF m.youtube.com/watch?v=x98cE4QCrlk

LRDtheFeministDragon · 19/08/2014 14:19

I made that exact same point on my blog a few months back. Only I accused Sir Thomas More of engaging in reductive biological essentialism, because I'd been reading too many books about how not to be a TERF.

OP posts:
PetulaGordino · 19/08/2014 14:21

Of course you're right, Nursie is merely reporting the TERFdom of sir Thomas More. Clearly I am late to the party (and haven't made my way through enough of your blog archive yet Blush)

LRDtheFeministDragon · 19/08/2014 14:35

I feel conflicted now. I'm sure TERFs are always women. As, you know, is unsurprising given how intimately calling TERF is related to feminism. Hmm

(And sorry, the blog ref was arrogant. Blush)

Yes of course, I'm being facetious re TM

PetulaGordino · 19/08/2014 14:48

After all I'm pretty sure he wasn't really a radical feminist in the first place Wink

Don't be daft re blog
