I don't believe her. And neither do a number of others (including confirmed prostitutes who worked on the same street or nearby at the same time as her).

Regardless of my own personal circumstances I think it's very easy for women who have left the profession to turn round and say how awful it is and how it should be stopped. I have yet to meet any current worker who supports the Nordic model.

My H had cheated on me and left me and I was struggling for money. A 'friend' who I didn't know that well started inviting me out a lot and I used to say that I couldn't afford it etc. but she always had 'freebie' nights arranged and i was in such a vulnerable place that I needed a distraction so went along with it but then she set me up on dates despite me saying I didn't want anyone. She said that her and her mates had been so nice to me that it was only fair that I complied. So I did.

I had 2 'dates' that ended in rape before I realised that I was a prostitute and my 'friend was not my friend.

That's my story. Cannot wait for pepper to tell me I'm talking shit Smile.

If I had not had other income and support I can well see me having gone into that life.

Migsy I'm not surprised by that - publicans opposed the smoking ban because it would affect trade (which it did) but public health has been improved, I believe.

Again, it's core to the Swedish model that there is support for prostitutes to exit. If there was a credible exit programme (eg somewhere to live, childcare, training and protection from your debts) alongside a change in the law, do you think the views of you and those you know might change?
