Newnight report on brothels

Worth £16 billion in Germany. Legal to "make it safer".

Interview with 22 yr old Hannah. 6 men per night, earns 100 to 1000 euros per night,

Talking about should it be illegal in the UK and the fact that brothels are safer than the streets. They have super brothels in Germany.

OP posts:

Thank you feminists for supporting laws that made brothels illegal:

" THIS is the dramatic moment when two suspected prostitutes were led away in handcuffs after their door was battered in during a raid in Worcester.

The women were in bed when eight officers, plain clothed and uniformed, led by DS Craig Tennant from reactive CID smashed their way into the house in a sleepy cul-de-sac in St Peter's yesterday (Thursday) morning.

Officers rammed their way through the wooden door and climbed in via a hole they had made in the bottom panel, shouting "police!" as they rushed inside. "

It will be a good job once the UK criminalises the men who exploit prostituted women. That really will make them safer, because the only people who cause harm to prostitutes is the men who abuse them. Get rid of the cause, I say, not make it easier for the cause of harm to prostitutes to get at them. (That would be the men for the hard of thinking ).

insuburbian · 11/03/2014 14:24

those 8 male cops should be given a bravery medal. wouldn't you agree?

insuburbian · 11/03/2014 14:24

Clearly you haven't heard of whenantisattack. here's a direct link

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 11/03/2014 14:25

I'm in favour of the Swedish model which decriminalises all prostitutes - good thing that.

insurbubian - We see you bro.

"I'm in favour of the Swedish model which decriminalises all prostitutes"

Another Q have you heard of Petite Jasmine?

LurcioLovesFrankie · 11/03/2014 14:28

God, it's like Groundhog day, isn't it? The same links, the same spurious justifications... the pay-to-rape brigade just go round and round in circles, don't they?

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 11/03/2014 14:31

Petit jasmine was murdered by her ex-partner - like 2 women a week in the UK.

It's one of the consequences of men thinking they own women.

"Petit jasmine was murdered by her ex-partner - like 2 women a week in the UK."

But what help did Sweden and the Swedish model give her? Instead of listening to her cries for help from her abusive partner the cops were more interested in what she did for a living, they just ignored her and took her kids off her and gave them to her partner who then went on to kill her.

insuburbian · 11/03/2014 14:36

I see you have conveniently ignored my posts on the raid in Worcester and the whenantisattack hashtag.

LurcioLovesFrankie · 11/03/2014 14:38

Buffy - love your cricket analogy. I think you are right - we are looking at the classic middle order collapse here Grin

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 11/03/2014 14:39

No I don't think so - raids like that won't happen under The Swedish model. The 'whenantisattack' is, I believe, a convo you've had with posters before on here? You or one of your mates - I can direct you to the thread if you like?

We see you bro

Will you answer all our questions now?

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 11/03/2014 14:40

'middle order collapse' Grin

insuburbian · 11/03/2014 14:42

" raids like that won't happen under The Swedish model."

Actually they do and it's even worse. In Sweden the cops break the doors down of sexworkers to get to the clients, and it doesn't have to be a brothel.

insuburbian · 11/03/2014 14:45

Listen to the newsnight debate again and near the end Laura Lee points that out

DoctorTwo · 11/03/2014 14:46

Middle order collapse. :o Good work there.

I like what the police are doing in Ipswich. They're arresting the punters and not the working women. Seems perfectly acceptable to me.

Yet another rape apologist coming here to tell us we're all wrong. Hmm We see you bro.

insuburbian · 11/03/2014 14:46

I gtg now. I would come back later but I expect MN will ban me (like they do with everyone who doesn't agree with the swedish model). Talk about closed-mined huh?

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 11/03/2014 14:47

But they won't take the prostitutes away in handcuffs.

The prostitutes are reassured that they are not under arrest, offered help if they need/want it, or left alone.

insuburbian · 11/03/2014 14:47

"I like what the police are doing in Ipswich. They're arresting the punters and not the working women. Seems perfectly acceptable to me."

You mean on the street? They can't make arrests for indoor non-brothel prostitution.

Individual councils can't just make up their own laws they have to follow the law of the jurisdiction.

insuburbian · 11/03/2014 14:49

"The prostitutes are reassured that they are not under arrest, offered help if they need/want it, or left alone."

And get evicted, have their kids taken off them, have their earnings confiscated and left with no money and left with a broken down door. And maybe have their photo online thanks to the media who come along with the police.

Lovely (not).

insuburbian · 11/03/2014 14:49

gtg

LurcioLovesFrankie · 11/03/2014 14:49

Well, mumsnet do seem to ban single issue posters who pop up with no previous posting history and troll on every thread on a single contentious topic in a single day... If the cap fits...

There are long-standing posters who are in favour of a regulated sex industry, who also post on other things (y'know, cos they're parents and this is a parenting website) who don't get banned.
