Newnight report on brothels

itshardthinkingofanickname · 20/02/2014 22:53

Worth £16 billion in Germany. Legal to "make it safer".

Interview with 22 yr old Hannah. 6 men per night, earns 100 to 1000 euros per night,

Talking about should it be illegal in the UK and the fact that brothels are safer than the streets. They have super brothels in Germany.

migsy Eaves is a specialist organisation for women who want to exit

hope they can help Thanks

filxiler · 06/03/2014 10:56

Incase anyone missed it

migsy"I also don't want my clients criminalised."

But it looks like you weren't listening.

dollius · 06/03/2014 11:01

What has that got to do with anything, fil?
You really don't give a shiny one about the suffering that goes on in this godawful "industry" do you?
Can you really not see how desperate and trapped Migsy feels? Her posts are screaming out for help and she is being controlled by some total wankstain on humanity who takes nearly half her earnings! And made her go back to "work" two weeks after a c-section.

I ask again, what the fuck is wrong with you?

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 06/03/2014 11:08

I think migsy's point more recently has been that she doesn't want to have to service punters any more - but has been groomed and trapped into prostitution. And what pearls of wisdom do you offer, fil? Oh yes, a website for escorts Hmm

It's worth pointing out here that what migsy is doing is not illegal - but what her 'friend' is doing is.

I would also ask wtf is wrong with you fil?

CaptChaos · 06/03/2014 11:17

Why would a punter want to see the pain and damage he causes? He might not be able to stick his cock into the next prostituted woman he buys if he has to recognise her humanity.

The fact that the obvious pain in Migsy's posts hasn't made a dent in Fil's pro pimp stance should tell anyone who reads this thread exactly what punters feel about the women they abuse.

migsy86 · 06/03/2014 12:01

I agree I need a break, I am so scared to stop though. I'm feeling awful about this now, the phone is constantly going and I feel like turning it off. I have genuinely never felt this way before. But im tired now, I told him last night when he came round, but he said it will get better when the baby is sleeping through the night. I can only speak to the organisations you have suggested when I know I don't have any appointments and my friend isn't around.

And in response to filxiler's question, I would support the Nordic model if they offered real solutions to this. I looked into an access to health course and it cost around 1k. I don't have that sort of money. How can I have my only source of income taken away. Will the govt support me while I get qualifications? These are real questions that need to be addressed.

Also I will still need to pay back debts, I just can't see a way out at the moment.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 06/03/2014 12:12

migsy, your friend will not want you to take a break, or escape prostitution - the reason being that he is not genuinely helping you out. He is making money out of you.

Please tread carefully and don't discuss this with him any further. Even if you're not in London, please please speak to Eaves for their advice. There is a way out of this for you and your lovely baby Flowers

CaptChaos · 06/03/2014 12:20

Almost all access courses are free to people on benefits. So, yes, you can do a course you will be supported. Eaves and WA will help you to exit and escape your pimp and move away, the fact that you don't feel you can speak to the organisations that have been suggested with your 'friend' there suggest that you know in your heart of hearts that he is just your pimp.

I can understand that posting might make you feel worse, but please keep on, there is a way out, and we (apart from the punter) want to help you to take that way out for a better life for your and your child Thanks

filxiler · 06/03/2014 12:51

"i would support the Nordic model if they offered real solutions to this"

Personally I haven't seen any Nordic model supporters offering to give money or offer well-paid employment to workers if they leave sexwork.

What the Nordic model will do however is make websites like SAAFE illegal (giving any sort of health or safety advice or things like free condoms to workers will be seen as "facilitating a violent crime").

The Nordic model doesn't acknowledge there is a wide spectrum of sexworkers ranging from street walkers who charge £20 to high-class escorts who charge several hundred £, under the Nordic model all sexworkers will all be put in the same category as victims who need rescuing and all punters will be put in the same category as violent criminals. Therefore workers who don't want "rescued" and workers who don't want their clients to be arrested will need to try and avoid the police just as if sexwork were illegal outright.

filxiler · 06/03/2014 12:53

I lost the link but one time I saw an article about sexworkers who were given training on how to make candles and then sell them in public. I don't think it caught on.

kentishgirl · 06/03/2014 13:06

I'e just read through this thread.

Migsy, look after yourself and your baby, stay safe, and please please call WA or Eaves the first chance you get. He is your pimp, like it or not. You were very young when you fell under his influence. Now you are older and wiser.

Yes, you will be helped. You will get benefits. You will be found a new, safe, home. If your debts are all to your pimp, they aren't debts at all. They are one of his methods of controlling you. Forget them. Other debts? Anything in writing? Were they lent to you legally? I suspect they aren't legally enforceable. I also suspect you may be afraid of those you 'owe' money to. You could move to the other end of the country, you know, and make a fresh start away from these people. You could. It is possible. And yes, you get financial help to study. You can still go and be a nurse.

the first step is one phone call.
Smile

CaptChaos · 06/03/2014 13:15

filxiler What is your vested interest in Migsy remaining under the influence of her pimp? Are you her pimp? Are you someone else's pimp? Just another punter who doesn't want his access to women like Migsy taken away?

grimbletart · 06/03/2014 13:27

Fililxer: are you stupid? I would like to think stupidity is causing you to be so utterly unaware of what is happening to Migsy and thousands like her as stupidity can't be helped. If not, then you must be callous as that is the only other possible explanation. And being callous is a choice. Either way your posts are beyond belief.

BriarRainbowshimmer · 06/03/2014 13:28

It doesn't surprise me that a coldblooded pimp/punter acts like one. What IS kind of surprising is to see them post in such a blatant way.
Panicked a bit there didn't he - oh no a woman might seek real help, what if she stops selling herself, om my god nooo how awful better link to a site for escorts!
And that they continue to post and post on a forum full of women who know that the sanitized Pretty Woman version of prostitution is bullshit.

migsy Wishing you the best of luck. Thanks

filxiler · 06/03/2014 13:29

I'm not anyone's "pimp", just pointing out the Nordic model is not the magic solution some may try to make it out to be.

Slightly off topic but you may be interested to know Edinburgh student union recently voted to advocate decriminalization as the best way to support sex workers.

www.journal-online.co.uk/article/11358-eusa_passes_motion_support_sex_workers

Not everyone supports the Nordic model. There are alternatives.

filxiler · 06/03/2014 13:32

*Edinburgh uni

filxiler · 06/03/2014 13:35

Are you going to call the students of the Edinburgh uni student union callous and cold-blooded as well? What about suggesting they are pimps or punters because they don't support the Nordic model?

CaptChaos · 06/03/2014 13:35

filxiler to continue from my answer to your drivel on the other thread. We've moved on, there is a woman, a prostituted woman, the kind you pretend to champion, on this thread. In pain, hurting and you just can't or won't see that. That says everything anyone ever needs to know about you.

We see you.

filxiler · 06/03/2014 13:39

migsy herself said she doesn't want her clients criminalized. And neither do Edinburgh uni student union where many students are sexworkers.

Doesn't that count for anything?

filxiler · 06/03/2014 13:41

From what I can see (with the sole exception of Rachel Moran), every single supporter of the Nordic model is someone who isn't a current or former sexworker.

LurcioLovesFrankie · 06/03/2014 13:54

Fil - you have said you are not a pimp. Could you also tell us whether you are or are not a punter? I am assuming that you are, because I cannot see any possible reason other than a need to justify your own behaviour, why you could possibly read a string of posts from a woman in desperate straits, groomed and trapped into prostitution by debts run up by the pimp who then suggested this work, who forced her back to work 2 weeks after a C section (if you cannot see how horrific that is, I suggest you google "air embolism") and continue to post the appalling drivel you're inflicting on us.

Tell me what, if you think it's such a great lifestyle choice, why not get yourself down to Kings Cross and rent yourself out to 6, 10 blokes a night for the next month, then come back and tell us how much you've enjoyed it.

filxiler · 06/03/2014 13:57

I'm not saying it's great or enjoyable. I'm saying the Nordic model isn't the only option available. And whenever anyone (including sexworkers themselves) say they don't support the Nordic model you either go quiet or respond with accusations or ad-hominem.

LurcioLovesFrankie · 06/03/2014 13:58

Which doesn't answer my question: are you so invested in this because you are a punter?

I've already said above I'm not a punter.

Now answer my Q-

migsy herself said she doesn't want her clients criminalized. And neither do Edinburgh uni student union where many students are sexworkers.

Doesn't that count for anything?
