So many evil men...can't stand it

SplitHeadGirl · 01/11/2013 20:21

First of all, I know fully well that men will get upset at what I think and am about to say, so I would like to clarify that I am talking about EVIL men, not the good, wonderful dads and granddads and husbands and nice single blokes out there....the ones who I KNOW (my brain, not my gut, tells me so) are in a majority, but who seem to be few (is it their deafening silence?)

But any fool can see that the sheer amount of men, who are prepared to do unspeakable things to women and girls (and boys as well as other men, not to mention the vulnerable and the elderly...wow, the list goes on) is just overwhelming. I read today about Anene Booysen, and I was absolutely heartbroken, but yet not shocked. For men to be so diabolical to women is not shocking anymore, and that is men's greatest tragedy.

I have two little daughters, and a little son, and I fear for them at the hands of men. Not women...just men.

I feel like I am thinking out loud with this post, so no worries if no one feels they can respond. I just wish I didn't feel so helpless at the tsunami of male violence.

But women don't on the whole, rape and murder men

Some do, but female sexual offenders usually get off scot-free because society still refuses that a woman couldn't possibly do such a thing.

Example when a male teacher is in the news for having sex with an underage student the article will use the word "rape".

But when a female teacher has sex with an underage student the news article will use the word "seduce" instead.

BasilBabyEater · 01/11/2013 22:19

Naicar are you seriously suggesting that women are raping and murdering men at the same rate that men are raping and murdering women?

Really?

Norudeshitrequired · 01/11/2013 22:20

I don't feel guilty when somebody does something evil, regardless of their gender. Why would I? I wouldn't do those terrible things so why should I feel guilt for the evil people that do commit terrible acts?
evil people come in all guises; male, female, black, white, religious, atheist, far, thin. Good people come in all guises too.
I don't take the credit when a woman does something great, so I won't feel guilty when a woman does something bad.
Evil men are evil men
Evil women are evil women.

naicar · 01/11/2013 22:26

I'm suggesting things aren't as black and white as you try and make them out to be.

It's possible for women to be sex predators, and men can be victims.

naicar · 01/11/2013 22:29

"I don't take the credit when a woman does something great, so I won't feel guilty when a woman does something bad."

Excellent point.

It would be wrong for a man to take credit for all the great inventions and discoveries other men have came up with, right? So by the same logic why should men take the blame for bad things other men have done?

RoxanneReidsChafingFishnets · 01/11/2013 22:30

The fact you had to ask your DP if he felt ashamed of been a man says it all really.

Women are murdered at the rate of 2 per week by their partners/ex-partners. Its gendered.

BringBackBod · 01/11/2013 22:33

Basil I don't think naicar is saying that women are committing terrible crimes at the same rate as men, just that it happens.

Kim No one knows the why. Its not the fact they are men though. Not all men do it.

I could go ask my rapist why. He probably abuses women and men a like tbh.

naicar · 01/11/2013 22:37

why are men (as a class) more violent than women?

I don't know.

Testosterone?

Social expectations/conditioning to be strong/tough/aggressive?

A lack of diplomatic skills?

RoxanneReidsChafingFishnets · 01/11/2013 22:37

Kim Who are you asking? No one here knows apart from the people who commit crimes!

been a man isn't a fucking crime

EyeOfNewtBigtoesOfFrog · 01/11/2013 22:37

I agree with you Basil and with you OP. You did clearly say there being "so many evil men" was what was upsetting you and that you know it's not all men.

But if there was any other quality that constituted such a massive risk factor for crime, and especially violent crime, as being male does, it would certainly be taken a hell of a lot more seriously.

As you say - it is the sheer number of men out there who are willing to rape, abuse, commit DV, kill other people, and most specifically, commit violent hate/control crimes against women that is shocking. You can have lots of wonderful, trustworthy men in your life and still be able to be horrified by this.

We think of crime as a minority thing, as an aberration - but when it comes to men, statistically, as a whole across the world, the levels of crime and violence are huge (and that's just what's reported).

I had vaguely heard somewhere that 20% of UK men have a criminal record - I searched and actually found this (I know 10 years old but it gives you an idea).

I think women should be much more aware and worried about this than they generally are and I think you raise an important issue OP.

Yes the biggest risk factor for being a violent criminal, is being a man. And yes, there are so many horrific stories every day of the things men have done to woman and children.

Grennie · 01/11/2013 22:40

No Kim. We are never allowed to notice, never mind say, the truth.

Bod, yes...because I KNOW that people will use any sorry excuse for a woman against ME, simply because I share her sex...in a way they would never do with men.

I am so sick of all the bullshit...from being called a FemiNAZI (yeah, because caring about women can REALLY be compared to the horrors of WW2), to women being terrorised and tortured and raped and murdered by men and have HARDLY ANY MEN give a shite, to having those stupid, pea-brained imbeciles of the MRA have the goddamned NERVE to show their stupid selves on a feminist board when THEIR sex is to blame for so much evil against us!!!!

I am so angry tonight....sorry everyone!! Reading Anene's story just made me realise what a pit of scum-men we are living in.

RoxanneReidsChafingFishnets · 01/11/2013 22:46

You don't turn round and ask your DP if hes embarrassed to be a fucking man because of what some men have done!

You accept some people are dickheads whatever their sex/gender!

I have brothers, a dad, male friends who wouldn't dream of doing the shit to women that people have done to me and I wouldn't fucking dream of asking them if they are ashamed to be a man!

Just as I wouldn't be ashamed to be a woman after all the women been done for killing children!

Its not normal tnh

SabrinaMulFUCKERJjones · 01/11/2013 22:50

Calm down, roxanne. OP has already said she's not talking about all men. But - male violence against women, and other men, needs to be talked about. It needs to be talked about because 2 women each week are killed by men they have loved and trusted. Countless more are raped and sexually assaulted by men they think they can trust.

This needs to be talked about.

SabrinaMulFUCKERJjones · 01/11/2013 22:53

btw, roxanne, more men are convicted of killing children than women too, according to HO figures.

MamaMary · 01/11/2013 22:53

Oh split, I so know where you are coming from. I sometimes feel the same way. There is so much evil in the world. And the majority of it is carried out by men.

I am trying to not dwell on it too much, but it's actually very difficult not to think about violence against women - pick up any newspaper and there it is.

Is there an epidemic of sexual and violent crimes against women recently, or has it always been this way?
