Hello and welcome! Pull up a chair!

This thread started when we all decided to imagine what the perfect local for feminists would be like. So far, it has taps with plenty of good real ale, and some decent non-alcoholic alternatives too. There are comfy chairs and there's a feminist film night, as well as lots of nice feminist-friendly books on the shelves and space to curl up and read. The open-mic nights are attracting feminist singers and comedians, and we're just sorting out the feminist creche.

I'm watching Hope and Glory on Film4. Fantastic film. SHould go to bed really though.

That's a sisterhood film - wimmin pulling together during the war. Passes the Bechdel with flying colours.

Oh, I love Hope and Glory.
It was the first war movie I saw that was not stupid hero worshipping or propaganda. And I totally got the sense of how exciting life was for the kids. Who did not fully understand the wider implications of what was going on...

I should go to bed too.

Oooh, no Shrieking, but sounds interesting. Book of the week? Can I get it on catch up?

It's on iplayer until Monday. Called Queens of the Coal Age. It was written by the woman who wrote the drama about the female cyclist which was also very good.
