And you Doctrine, Smile Thanks I am just overwhelmed at the result, it feels amazing to know that grass roots activism can have such an immediate impact. I just hope that the conversation in the media carries on.

Just so people are still aware, this site:

www.baytree-interiors.co.uk/item/3362/a-lady-says-no-plaque.html

and this site:

shopofdreams.co.uk/lady-says-no-plaque

are STILL selling that plaque!! Angry

DoubleLifeIsALifeHalved · 03/03/2013 01:57

Well done mumsnetters, great to see what an effect people can have so speedily - wonder if the remaining two retailers are lagging behind because of general tech slowness, or if they really are pro women hating foulness.

Thanks for this positive thread and action, in comparison to the unpleasant trollery around tonight, this shows me that for every lone misogynist posting vile hatred from his bedroom, there are strong dignified women keeping up the truth. Thanks, really mean it.

duchesse · 03/03/2013 02:08

I'd quite like a sign that says

"When a woman says no she means "Try that again and see if you like a knee in the nuts""

It's not very catchy though.

FriedSprout · 03/03/2013 08:17

Media had picked up on it, just caught something on classic fm's 8.00am news.

MrsMushroom · 03/03/2013 13:47

Oh I thought they might Fried. After all...they're bloody shocking and I can't believe people would buy them for their shops!

"It sounded quite profound."

Confused

WHAT? WHERE? HOW? How did that sound profound??? Maybe if you're an ignorant CHILD with no idea of the meaning of the word you could mistake it for profound...but that's doing children a disservice isn't it?

As for "letting it run down." he should replace that with "We're planning on infecting more minds with the abusive message because we don't want to lose money."

I think it's a shit response really. All platitudes and no action.

As you are obviously aware, this is a famous saying, not something we have come up with.

Is it? I'd not heard it before. Lame excuse anyway, I could use the same argument to make plaques with hitler quotes.

Um... no thanks, maybe you should put the money towards something more useful like a rape survivors charity rather than handing out an empty gesture like this.

MajaBiene · 04/03/2013 16:29

What did you think it meant, Sophie?

FairyJen · 04/03/2013 16:31

sophie keep your 20% I wouldn't shop with you if it was free!

INeverSaidThat · 04/03/2013 16:38

SophieTaylor Thanks for the response. I am glad you are not stocking the sign. I have to say I did find it quite offensive.

slug · 04/03/2013 16:55

Seriously? What on earth did you think it was saying then?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 04/03/2013 17:06

Just wanted to say that you lot are excellent! Is there anything I can help with?

BubblegumPie · 04/03/2013 17:11

YES! this is still being sold.

HoneyKate · 04/03/2013 17:14

I have emailed Hill Interiors and A Shop of Dreams who both seem to still have this hideous item available for sale or at least it is still appearing on their websites.

MrsMushroom · 04/03/2013 17:30

Sophie keep my 20% to put towards removing all of the surplus stock from your store.

Darkesteyes · 04/03/2013 17:55

Profound PROFOUND!

EduCated · 04/03/2013 18:27

So how did YOU view the plaque, Sophie?

TheDinnerWitch · 04/03/2013 20:09

Sophie we don't want any money or discounts from you, we just wanted you to remove the plaque, which you have done, so thank you. I hope you use better judgement next time when purchasing merchandise for your store, no matter how 'profound' or 'pretty' something may be. Hmm

TheDinnerWitch · 04/03/2013 20:11

Hopefully Shop of Dreams will reply soon.

Floweryhat · 04/03/2013 21:27

Never pass up an opportunity to generate new business eh Sophie?

After all, all publicity is good publicity Hmm. Sigh.

RowanMumsnet · 05/03/2013 17:59

Hello there

You'll see we have removed Sophie's post, as we don't allow organisations to post as 'themselves' on Mumsnet. We've offered to post up a statement by the company on its behalf.

We've also, at their request, removed the post quoting email responses from Hill Interiors and Baytree Interiors.
