Someone else googled and found it in this shop.

Please can you lot email the shop? I have sent an email explaining why they need to remove it from their stock. Can you lot too?

I have a thread in chat asking people to email too and one now in here

dummad · 01/03/2013 22:04

Not sure what I'd do if I came across actually someone wearing that awful thing. Surely that should be a criminal offense - inciting hatred/violence or something.

BubblegumPie · 01/03/2013 23:05

Thanks doctrine Smile

TheDoctrineOfSciAndNatureClub · 01/03/2013 23:09

I think Amazon doesn't check too closely what its third party suppliers put up - a couple of years ago they had some other awful ones which seem to be gone (MNers helped with posting reviews and emailing complaints)

sashh · 02/03/2013 03:07

OK two links to amazon but the item has been removed.

What did it say? Or do I not want to know?

EduCated · 02/03/2013 13:24

Thanks SS, I had come across Hill but haven't got round to emailing them yet.

I got a reply from Amazon just telling me that the keep calm T-shirts are no longer for sale. This is my reply:

"Good, perhaps you could consider increasing your regulations and standards on what you allow people to sell on your sites to avoid this happening again.

For example, advertised on your UK site, I am able to find the following:

T-shirts glorifying gang rape

'erotic' fiction perpetuating the myth that women somehow get turned on by having their bodies violated

books detailing how to take advantage of prostituted people

I would list more but searching through the dark, twisted listings on your site is making me feel ill.
Having faced recent public scandal over tax evasion, I would think that Amazon would be keen to improve its reputation. Allowing such degrading and offensive material to be advertised on your site and indeed profiting from it is not the way to go about this.

I for one will no longer be shopping with you until you improve the regulations of products sold on your site, and I will be encouraging my family and friends to do the same."

Now I am panicking thinking that i am wrong about the tax evasion and am making a fool of myself though? They were in trouble for that weren't they???

BubblegumPie · 02/03/2013 15:38

they were, phew weird moment of self doubt there!

Darkesteyes · 02/03/2013 16:28

Bloody hell Bubblegum i only clicked on the "erotic fiction" link Thats horrific. Cant believe i just saw that.

BubblegumPie · 02/03/2013 17:04

I know, it's not hard to find this sort of thing on there at all Sad

SimoneDeBeaver · 02/03/2013 17:15

Blimey, you have had an impact today. I am curious about how you found out about the TShirts. We're you just browsing?

Anyway, it is great that they are no longer being sold. I hope it raises everyone's consciousness in future.

Well done. Thanks

Darkesteyes · 02/03/2013 18:16

Just seen a report about the T shirts on Sky News.
Reporter said if Amazon are willing to take a tax cut then they must be willing to take some of the blame too.

MrsMushroom · 02/03/2013 18:24

NeverSaid does it matter how they were found? I mean...if Doctrine typed in "Rape" or "Slut" then that's a good way to weed out the shit isn't it.

OP posts:
INeverSaidThat · 02/03/2013 18:40

no, it doesn't matter how Doctrine came across them. I was genuinely just curious. Smile

SocialClimber · 02/03/2013 19:03

Those slogans are the tip of the iceberg. No computer generated "statistically, 9 out of 10 people enjoy gang rape."

Disgusting.

TheDoctrineOfSciAndNatureClub · 02/03/2013 19:19

Hi INeed

It's because a while ago there was a thread on here about t-shirts like the " 9 out of 10" one that SocialClimber just mentioned

So I did a search on Amazon ("rape tshirt") to see if it had been removed - "9 out of 10" didn't come up which I was pleased about, thinking it had been taken off (but prematurely as Social has now found it)... However, one of the Search results was the Keep Calm one Angry. Hence my p

...post!

SocialClimber · 02/03/2013 19:35

I don't even have to look for the 9 out of 10 one. I went to Amazon's Twitter page and it was right there as one if their adverts.

I posted on the Page 3 page on FB, but I don't know if that's still available to view now. I don't particularly want to type it in either to check.

SocialClimber · 02/03/2013 19:36

*didn't.

INeverSaidThat · 02/03/2013 20:02

That is amazing Doctrine, Can you tell your friends and family or do you keep your MN persona private? It must be very satisfying to have, literally, brought this to the attention of such a huge number of people.

Thanks Wine.

TheDoctrineOfSciAndNatureClub · 02/03/2013 20:53

Ah, no, I keep it private. I did email myself a couple of the news links though for posterity Grin

Thanks to edible and all the retweeters as I don't really tweet and that's been where this has all snowballed.

Darkesteyes · 02/03/2013 21:22

Back at you Doctrine and Edible and the rest. Thanks Thanks Wine Wine

FloraFox · 02/03/2013 23:09

Well done Doctrine and everyone. It's quite amazing how quickly this developed and was resolved. Pats on the back to everyone! Wine and Thanks
