www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2194240/Angelina-Jolie-lookalike-stabs-taxi-driver-refusing-sex-her.html

Utterly ridiculous and the police give her an excuse - she was on medication!
I am appalled!

In this country a woman cannot commit rape because rape is specifically the insertion of a penis into another person. As women don't have a penis they can't commit rape.

Not sure on the situation in other countries and as the link is to the Daily Mail, the mere thought of which brings me out in a horrible itchy rash, I won't be reading further to find out.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 28/08/2012 14:07

She does not have a penis so cannot rape. She can sexually assault.

I, too, cannot click on daily hate links

namechangeguy · 28/08/2012 14:09

Isn't the legal definition of rape when a penis is forced into a vagina or other orifice by the assailant? Therefore, it is sexual assault rather than rape. And she doesn't look like Angelina at all. That is just shoddy journalism.

TheCrackFox · 28/08/2012 14:10

A. It was in Romania so have no clue what the laws surrounding this would be.

B. The police are still investigating so you will have to wait to see how the Romanian authorities catagorize this offence.

CaseyShraeger · 28/08/2012 14:14

I believe in Romania the legal definition of rape is such that only women can be raped, so an even more narrow definition.

Not commenting on this case in particular because, let's face it, the Daily Mail have lifted a story off a Romanian website so who knows what the actual facts are - but in general, yes, it is bad that the public and media response to sexual assault on men is often to find the whole thing faintly amusing. It's a reflection of the deepy-ingrained myth that all men are up for sex with any woman at any time, which damages both women (who are held to be "asking for it" if they dress revealingly around a man because he's so easily arpused) and men (who are assumed not to be harmed by nonconsensual sexual contact).

May I ask why you decided to post this thread on this particular board? Do you think it's particularly relevant to feminism or women's rights?

MisogynistToolMagnet · 28/08/2012 14:27

It's been a while since we've had the "wimminz do it tooooo" argument on here.

It hasn't been missed.

BTW, women can't rape men. HTH.

dranksinatra · 28/08/2012 14:31

Made up story

BoneyBackJefferson · 28/08/2012 14:34

"BTW, women can't rape men. HTH."

In several countries it is possible for women to rape men. HTH

GetOrfMoiCuntCake · 28/08/2012 14:35

Oh yeah because this kind of shit happens all the time Hmm

MisogynistToolMagnet · 28/08/2012 14:35

Not in England, or Romania where the story is from.

HTH.

namechangeguy · 28/08/2012 14:36

I believe him.

MisogynistToolMagnet · 28/08/2012 14:38
Hmm

Funny that, NCG, seeing as you're one of those people I remember for spouting rape myths in the past....

namechangeguy · 28/08/2012 14:44

Oh, this will be good. Name me one time I have. Just one.

NarkedRaspberry · 28/08/2012 14:47

What a lovely third post. The first being on a pubic hair thread last week. The second on the thread about a woman with a DP who hates fat women.

dranksinatra Confused you know this how?

Maybe the op posted it here as the feminist board should be the board more likely to ignore rape myths and be able to talk about the actual story, with out finding it funny?

just because something isn't legally called rape doesn't mean it isn't rape Angry

if that were true every woman raped by her husband in the UK in 1990 wasn't really raped

BigOldFanny · 28/08/2012 15:18

dueling b. Who knows what the facts are

Would you ever post htat in response to a woman who had been raped?
Don't know anything about op, but don't think that's an appropriate response to a victims story- ever

What bigoldfanny said.

namechangeguy · 28/08/2012 15:19

Until we know differently, this man's claims deserve to be respected every bit as much as any women who finds the courage to come forward and accuse her rapist.

It could be bolleaux, but this guy seems to have been physically harmed, and subjected to ridicule. Sexual assault isn't a numbers game - one assault is too many.

TheCunningStunt · 28/08/2012 15:25

Legal term or not, of course a man can be raped by a woman! Rape is sex against your will, he was not willing!.....it is, however, in the daiyfail....so I do question the articles motives.

DuelingFanjo · 28/08/2012 15:27

"Would you ever post htat in response to a woman who had been raped?"

If a woman came here and posted about being raped I would never be so crass as to post in response suggesting that I didn't belive her. As for any crime I would always maintain that I don't know the facts so I can't state either way what the outcome of a criminal trial should be.

As far as I am aware the man in this case has not posted on mumsnet claiming that he has been raped.

I am responding to the OP who clearly has an agenda.

But how is it possible for PIV sex if a man is not interested/hasn't got a hard on?

DuelingFanjo · 28/08/2012 15:29

OK - apologies if that was offensive to rape victims, it wasn't meant to be and I can see how it would be.

I am afraid I do not think the OP is posting here for good reasons and unfortunately I have said the worst possible thing which I am sorry for. I will ask that it be deleted.
