You are saying something the article doesn't actually say, that's why I'm rather disturbed by your post.
If you go back and read the article, you will see that, although it is really unpleasant (like quite a lot of the Daily Mail), it doesn't actually claim what you are saying it claims. What you are saying is, unfortunately, a rape myth.
As, FWIW, is Stern's claim that low figures of conviction should 'discourage victim's (erm ... no!), and Stern's use of the phrase 'rape as the term is normally used'. She should be ashamed to say that, and I would like to know what relation 'normally used' bears to 'legal definition', since the legal definition is the only thing she has business to discuss in this context.
