I don't usually wander onto the MN facebook page but I was pretty horrified to find what looks very much like an MRA agenda posted on there.
I'm trying very hard to see what relevance the photo used for their site has regarding the voices of unheard children. Hmm Looks more like how they would like to see their women to me.

p.s. Before anyone thinks I am over-reacting, I have been threatened with being burnt to death along with my children in my own home. And that was by a man who says he loves them.

HelenMumsnet · 08/03/2012 22:08

@LineRunner

I would like to know under exactly which circumstances MNHQ would hand over to the police or any other party my name and address, given that these could then be obtained by a third party under discovery rules.

Does MNHQ have a written policy on this?

If I don't like it, am I able to make a request to have all my personal details deleted permanently from MNHQ's database, and all my posts deleted, to keep my children safe?

LineRunner, here is our Privacy policy

And yes.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 08/03/2012 22:10

HelenMN, I inadequately was trying to say that I trusted you lot not to hand stuff over, and so can't believe that personal details would be handed over. please don't let me down on that one :)

swallowedAfly · 08/03/2012 22:12

have i been deleted at all? don't think i've said anything that merits it but if anyone notices posts of mine that have been deleted could you give me a head's up please?

actually does mn not email people when they delete their posts?

LineRunner · 08/03/2012 22:13

"We will not give your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are specifically required to by law."

So you are confirming that that would require a court order, not simply a request from the police?

FrothyDragon · 08/03/2012 22:13

Not usually, SAF, no.

LineRunner · 08/03/2012 22:14

Sorry, Helen at MNHQ, that was a question for you. Many thanks.

Could MNHQ please clarify what they intend to do about F4J's attacks on us?

LineRunner · 08/03/2012 22:24

Actually that's a question for Justine, really.

swallowedAfly · 08/03/2012 22:29

they've only ever given details once - i'd imagine it would have been a child in severe danger abuse scenario or something like that -genuine child protection always trumps privacy/confidentiality.

AliceHurled · 08/03/2012 22:32

I reported a post that defamed women's aid. I have had no reply. Why is that ok? Because women's aid aren't threatening you with lawyers you don't care, even though women's aid work for the benefit if so many users if this site?

Oh and happy women's day Hmm

LineRunner · 08/03/2012 22:32

And under those circs the police would get an order in an hour.

Will there always be an order?

Nyac · 08/03/2012 22:34

On the Garry thread Justine said data protection laws precluded them handing Mumsentter details over to third parties. I assume that still stands.

runningforthebusinheels · 08/03/2012 22:36

Nooooo swc don't go. Report your post for an answer - I can't believe that MN are loose with our personal info. Surely?

We need our voices heard on here! Reading on the GB page you'd think feminism was a dirty word - the MRA's have done their job well.

LineRunner · 08/03/2012 22:37

Oh yes, happy international women's day.

I spent much of the day talking to gay female teenagers about their problems, and then to people such as chair of governors at local state schools about measures that might help the girls feel less shat on in their schools.

I packed bedding and clothes for the local refuge.

I came on MN.

LineRunner · 08/03/2012 22:39

It's not that MN are 'loose' - it's more that posters deserve to know that a court order would definitely be necessary in order for them to hand over our personal details.

You probably haven't had a reply, AliceHurled, because we haven't got to your report yet. We are a bit swamped We'll get back to you/act on your report as soon as we can.

runningforthebusinheels · 08/03/2012 22:46

Linerunner just wanted to say I don't think you're over-reacting in the slightest - I hope MN can come back with the confirmation you've asked for.
