I don't usually wander onto the MN facebook page but I was pretty horrified to find what looks very much like an MRA agenda posted on there.
I'm trying very hard to see what relevance the photo used for their site has regarding the voices of unheard children. Hmm Looks more like how they would like to see their women to me.

Careful, you've spilt some purple powder there, garold.

HandDivedScallopsrgreat · 08/03/2012 17:24

So let me get this straight:

Members of F4J decide to make harassing calls to Gingerbread and troll them.

They then decide to troll MN FB pages.

When called on it they decide to troll the FWR board on MN.

And now they are a little peeved because we don't like them.

They really aren't that bright are they?

Norty norty feminists! Honestly don't you know we are supposed to welcome them with open arms and reassure them that they are just misunderstood.

BasilRathbone · 08/03/2012 17:29

You sound a little confused Garold

HandDivedScallopsrgreat · 08/03/2012 17:32

It's like shooting fish in a bucket.

FrothyDragon · 08/03/2012 17:33

Can we please explain to F4J how that poster is hateful, and their treatment of Gingerbread and Mumsnet has constituted abuse?

I think Nadine is a little confused - it is not actually for her to decide whether she is "wasting police time" but the police and ultimately the CPS.

Are you wearing purple? You HAVE to wear purple today...

There are numerous posts from posters on MN praising some really wonderful men in their lives - some of whom they are married to Shock. Some of them are even from feminists. Shock Shock

There are even posts where individuals say they feel sorry for men who are deliberately deprived of contact with their children for no good reason because with human nature being what it is and simply following the law of statistical averages, it is inevitable that some women will do this and even most feminists accept this. It's simply that the evidence suggests this to be a much less prevalent problem than say men abusing women (and therefore children) or men not paying maintenance.

Home Office stats state that 1 in 4 women are abused compared to 1 in 6 men. DWP and CMEC/CSA figures conclude that 60% of single mothers not using CSA get no maintenance, while for those who do use the CSA 46% receive £5 or less. Fathers denied contact through the courts.... er, nowhere near as big as those percentages are they!

Which is why people like me get very cross when we hear so much about father's rights without any mention of responsibilities to pay maintenance or stop abusing their partners and ex-partners. If the priority is children's welfare, those things must come first, otherwise it's just an exercise in establishing supremacy IMO.

Where are the campaigns for greater paternity leave? Where are the campaigns to get men to take up more flexible working practises? Those two things would do much more to establish a 'fairer' residency split post separation. No, instead we have campaigns showing children silenced in a manner akin to bondage Hmm and women accused of being "psychological child abusing contact blockers".

I haven't seen any F4J members come on here and admit that maybe - just maybe - some women have a damn good reason for preventing contact. Or that some fathers don't really care about it and just want to use it to continue to abuse their ex-partners.

When it comes to entrenched views and unreasonable beliefs fuelled by bigotry I know who I feel is more guilty out of MN and F4J.

PMSL at BeerTricks's megaphone.

Coming to the nasty threat serious matter of libel/defamation and calling the cops, I have consulted NarkedPuffin's link and I think it is safe to say that everything here comes well under; fair comment (i.e. whether the statement was a view that a reasonable person could have held).

Defamation laws aren't there so that bullies can make reasonable people STFU (allegedly).

TunipTheVegemal · 08/03/2012 18:24

we should be ok as long as no-one has accused them of strapping babies to rockets and firing them into South Lebanon.

FrothyDragon · 08/03/2012 18:27

Urgh, Dan's turned up, too...

swallowedAfly · 08/03/2012 18:27

don't tempt them they'd probably think it was an appropriate image for the courts abducting their children and try it.

Oh, do they have actual campaigns? I've been too distracted by their posts about Miss Piggy and manhaters and Matt O'Connor going round calling lawyers cunts to notice.
It doesn't leave you expecting them to have anything useful to say, really.

I am beginning to wonder Beer. They are apparently launching teaser campaign for their father's day march tomorrow, which ties in nicely with Nadine potentially getting them bucketloads of publicity by going head to head with MN and then reporting to the police. It may not have been an original intention earlier in the week when they starting spamming that poster everywhere, but I think that was her intention in whipping them all up.

Beachcomber · 08/03/2012 18:46

Tunip, I think those are the campaigns. We are in the thick of one right now - it consists of harassing Gingerbread and trolling MN.

This is light relief from the harassing Harriet Harman type campaign you understand.
