I don't usually wander onto the MN facebook page but I was pretty horrified to find what looks very much like an MRA agenda posted on there.
I'm trying very hard to see what relevance the photo used for their site has regarding the voices of unheard children. Hmm Looks more like how they would like to see their women to me.

Right, is anyone able to take over on the thread I started in Gingerbread, please? I don't want F4J taking over whilst my back is turned, and I think I slipped up on that last comment.

ThisIsExtremelyVeryNotGood · 08/03/2012 18:55

Did Lyn message you the research she mentioned Frothy? I can give it a go Grin

FrothyDragon · 08/03/2012 18:57

Not yet, she hasn't.

mcmooncup · 08/03/2012 19:01

You guys are awesome.........

I mean you MN'ers. Not the nobjockies at F4J. Obviously

My favourite comment of all time:

"If there is such a crime as incitement to "gender" hatred then I'm phoning the police to report the porn industry."

As you were.

solidgoldbrass · 08/03/2012 19:01

Thing is, it's yet another campaign that will make them look like the dickheads they are. If they publicise the threads on here or on FB most people will look at them and go, well at least the feminist harridans can spell.

runningforthebusinheels · 08/03/2012 19:02

I really think that some of these members of F4J who are now acting like victims of rad-feminism should take a good long look at the organisation they are allying with.

F4J misrepresent statistics on their FB page an in their advertising. The whole premise of their organisation is erroneous. 4 million children are not "living without fathers" - the stats are that 3.8 million children are affected by parental separation and this figure includes all the families who have shared/ co-parenting. Where on earth is their evidence that Gingerbread imply that 90% of fathers are unfit? From GB's own website it is clear that contact with both parents is encouraged, unless there are good reasons to deny access.

It's all been said already on this thread, but only 10% of relationship breakdowns end up in family court, and only 1% of these end up with a parent being denied access. This figure simply does not add up to the 'thousands of children will be silenced by family court in 2012' that is all over F4J literature.

F4J then post an aggressive call-to-arms on, asking that F4J bombard Gingerbread helplines with calls (yes, that's charitable helplines, there for the very people they claim to represent). Then they deny they set out on this intimidating campaign against GB and now they want to make out they condemn and disown anyone who targets Gingerbread. When the full instructions on what to do were on their own FB page hours before.

They initiate an organised offensive against MN, detailing on FB how to sign up to MN and linking to this thread. In the same breath as squawking about 'free speech' they then ban anyone from their FB page who disagrees with them, and state that this is what they've done on their page. They claim they want rational discussion, but then shut down the discussion when it's not going their way. Finally they threaten legal action and the police Hmm

Hello? Nice little publicity stunt, no?

Finally, lets not forget, these people are well handy with the handcuffs and purple paint, alongside the intimidation.

I doubt they are aware of that man's conviction Mcmooncup.

TunipTheVegemal · 08/03/2012 19:31

ROFL SWC.

I can't help think that if F4J are trying to get press coverage they're going to have a hard time making it go their way. IIRC MNHQ have one or two friends in the media.
If this did end up in the papers (and who knows, even Moldies did ffs) Mumsnet would probably get rather more out of the coverage than them.

NarkedPuffin · 08/03/2012 20:07

Apparently we called the 'fascists' Confused

I called SWC a fascist, in a tongue in cheek way. They can't mean that can they?

It's not a good sign when you start assuming people are talking about you. That with the whole family court 'conspiracy' stuff ...

TunipTheVegemal · 08/03/2012 20:17

Someone might have done, dunno, who cares really?
MNHQ are at perfect liberty to delete any posts of ours that go over the mark (said secure in the knowledge that that wouldn't make an awful lot of difference to the thread...)

Evening
We'd just like to remind you all to post within our talk guidelines - ie no personal attacks and no potentially defamatory comments. In the face of legal threats, we will be removing posts that are potentially defamatory. We'll also be deleting personal attacks. If you're concerned by the deletion of any post (since yesterday) and would like to ask us why it has been deleted, we'd be happy to answer but we hope you'll understand that we may have to err on the side of caution in our decisions to delete.
Thanks
MNHQ

Legal threats seem to work so well for F4J.

Free speech! Free speech!

Not for Mumsnetters though.

Once again, how come Justine was giving us the lecture about free speech when it is F4J who want to shut ours down and are quite happy to use legal threats to achieve that.
