Agenda, much?

I don't usually wander onto the MN facebook page but I was pretty horrified to find what looks very much like an MRA agenda posted on there.
I'm trying very hard to see what relevance the photo used for their site has regarding the voices of unheard children. Hmm Looks more like how they would like to see their women to me.

Sorry the 'Gender_Warriors' forum. Opps. Waits for smack on back of hand, ankles, thigh, bottom.

TunipTheVegemal · 06/03/2012 22:43

MNHQ please will you clarify?
If you're deleting posts for being anti-men, does that mean you will now delete posts for being anti-women? Or just the anti-men ones? Confused

Are only men, and their supporters allowed to be offended?

Got it!

Go smash the patriarchy, girlies! Just don't offend any men in the process...

LineRunner · 06/03/2012 22:48

MNHQ please would you confirm your deletion policy to Tunip? Thank you.

I notice Smiley has just come back to patronise us a little more - but has failed to address my point about depression/suicide, and how wrong it is to portray someone who has committed suicide as someone who has deliberately, and clear-mindedly set out to hurt their family and friends.

I'm not holding my breath, though.

VictorGollancz · 06/03/2012 22:50

Just wanted to post in support of you all. I'm bloody knackered just from reading this thread.

MNHQ - there's a post up there ^ in which an identified member of F4J states that domestic violence should not be a barrier to being awarded access. This is an outrageous^ statement and I don't see why a poster with no history outside this thread is allowed to stay.

Many of the other websites I wander around on state that 'registering simply to inflame debate' (wording may vary) is trolling. Just a thought, eh?

Nyac · 06/03/2012 22:50

I know the feminist section allegedly has a bad reputation here, although it's amazing how many people on Mumsnet have had nice things to say about us, but I'm pretty sure that even the Mumsnetters who aren't interested in this section wouldn't be too pleased to see the red carpet being rolled out for F4J.

LineRunner · 06/03/2012 22:52

That's a very interesting post, and very useful, VictorGollancz.

Hey, I got a post of smiley's deleted!

Can I have a cookie now?

BasilRathbone · 06/03/2012 22:53

It says something that on a predominantly women's site, none of us have any faith that MN may deem an organisation unsavoury if it's sexist; homophobic, maybe, racist, certainly, violent, possibly; but sexist - nah, wtf do you expect, the same standards of respect to be given to women as for any other marginalised group? Are you mad?

Gah. I'm off to bed. It's not werf it.

Garold01 · 06/03/2012 22:53

Its a parenting organisation with women and men and children. Just like Mums net. This stereotype and misandry is quite offensive. Many fathers with residency are members of this parenting group.

I think it is worth asking MNHQ to listen and to respond, yes.

N'awww, Trevor Borking, love, we haven't been told off...

We're just pissed off at you and your oik, and MNHQ for giving you a metaphorical pat on the head...

First post Garold01

VictorGollancz · 06/03/2012 22:57

Er, Mumsnet is indeed a parenting forum. In which men and women stand together in thinking that abusing your partner disqualifies you from seeing your children.

Abusing your partner, the co-parent of your children, and losing access to those children as a result is not 'misandry'. You should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself for stating so.

Garold01 · 06/03/2012 22:59

Becasue we have met them and seen them grow up. They are more real than the models used in many other propaganda campaigns for other parenting groups and DV campaigns.

LeBOF · 06/03/2012 23:00

MNHQ, why are you acting like such MASSIVE TOOLS?

You do realise that you will lose many respected and valued members by rolling over to the trolling F4J lot, don't you?

Or do actually not give a shit any more?

I am disgusted.

Dworkin · 06/03/2012 23:00

Garold01 Sorry but a parent organisation? Fathers4Justice? Oh by the way four is a monosyllibic, and easy word to spell but I get that you want to be hip, hop and happening cool.

It's just that you can't be if you're homophobic, sexist and racist. None of these categories are cool.

You are an organisation that has used violent and intimidatory tactics, against women politicians especially, in order to make your point.

Sorry but Garold01's post was creepy. I'm off to bed now.
