Agenda, much?

I don't usually wander onto the MN facebook page but I was pretty horrified to find what looks very much like an MRA agenda posted on there.
I'm trying very hard to see what relevance the photo used for their site has regarding the voices of unheard children. Hmm Looks more like how they would like to see their women to me.

The Gingerbread stuff is horrible.

As they did before, they like singling individuals out and attacking them. Margaret Hodge and Harriet Harman got it before.

That's not how you conduct decent politics. It is the politics of intimidation.

Will that be deleted too Mumsnet?

LineRunner · 06/03/2012 23:05

I say 'fathers'

MNHQ says 'delete'

A tad sad.

The gingerbread stuff is horrible, vile and bullying.

I have a four year old with better manners than the F4J lot.

JerichoStarQuilt · 06/03/2012 23:08

I've been reading on and off all day and I have to join in and say MNHQ, this is not right. I'm disgusted and angry at the deletions on this thread.

You should be standing up for parenting and for care of children - not for people who are clearly making all decent fathers and mothers ashamed to associate with them.

Disgusting censoring deletions, too - I thought we'd got beyond all this rubbish.

Well said, feMNists.

Garold01 · 06/03/2012 23:08

We should stick to facts. ACTUAL facts - as verified by the Office of National Statistics etc.and now the sun, women's aid and other spurious statistics (please read Christina Hoff Sommers for clarification). Here they are: 2% of Single Fathers have residency of their children. I am one of them as are a few others on here. This is not because the rest are feckless and absent or wife-beaters. Its simply a state organised deliberate financial apparatus. On separation it is nearly always the mother who is AUTOMATICALLY by virtue of gender given these rights. This is even if she has a Domestic Violence Warning against her! This is what happened to me and it cost about 18 grant to regain that residency as a father because you have to 'prove' you are fit in a court. You may not chose to but if you don't want your child to disappear you HAVE to. 1 % of fathers recieve 'mainatainance from the other 'absent' parent (these are the CSA's OWN figures as given to me (a journalist) by their own press office. Its possible that even this figure is invented to maintain a semblance of 'equality'. The Leo Blair plot was made up by The Editor of the Sun in collusion with the Blair Family (remember WMDs?). Lastly, F4J is an EQUAL parenting Organisation with CLEAR anti-sexist and Anti-Racist rules and articles of association and as such has male, female, grandparents, children etc as members (about 5000).

Bit like the Catholic Church or the Tory party.

Or cricket clubs when women do all the catering whilst the men play their games.

I know of one man who got custody through not being feckless woman abusing piece of scum.

I know of five who got custody by being abusive.

Jus' sayin'...

TunipTheVegemal · 06/03/2012 23:12

I am loving the idea that we should go to Christina Hoff Sommers for advice on which statistics to believe.

ThisIsExtremelyVeryNotGood · 06/03/2012 23:13

Would you like to explain all the anti-woman comments on the F4J FB page which have been allowed to stand then Garold? If F4J is such an accepting organisation.

TunipTheVegemal · 06/03/2012 23:14

from the Wiki page on Christina Hoff Sommers:
'In an article circulated by Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR), a national progressive media watch group, Laura Flanders wrote "[Sommers'] book [Who Stole Feminism] is filled with the same kind of errors, unsubstantiated charges and citations of 'advocacy research' that she claims to find in the work of the feminists she takes to task... Oh dear there are rather a lot of rants and attacks against F4J. Who are you actually ranting at ladies? How do you propose changes to the current family law? Do you think it's fair? What are Syrians doing right now in there country? What did the Libyans do? It is called "we have had enough!" When people don't listen a revolution starts up against the regime. Lets face it ladies you don't care a crap whats happenng out there do you? It isn't your fight. It doesn't affect you personally. Well similar plights of MANY is actually happening here in the UK and the US and Canada against a regime which isn't prepared to listen or do anything about it. It obviously doesn't effect you posters but it does effect others so why harshly judge these people when you aren't walking in there shoes? These people are real. Children, fathers, mothers, grandparents..
So what do you propose ladies? All you seem to be doing is dragging up stuff you found on google to have your rants!

On any other forum what they're doing would be called trolling.

Not here.

VictorGollancz · 06/03/2012 23:18

Every single time someone pastes that Harriet Harman quotation, I despair for the literacy rate of the UK.

Someone will be along calling her 'Harperson' in a moment. You mark my words. And then I might win some sort of prize.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 06/03/2012 23:19

Garold - what about the absent fathers who pay no maintenance - are they not also condemning their children to a life of poverty?

More patronising, Smiley - but still no real sign that you have understood my points about depression and suicide. I am not surprised.

VictorGollancz · 06/03/2012 23:20

Very true, Nyac. Registering for a single purpose is usually trolling. I wasn't aware that MN didn't have this in their guidelines.

FrothyDragon · 06/03/2012 23:20

Please stop calling us "ladies", smileysmile. It's most patronising.

Wiki is not FACTUAL. It is not supported by academic study or statistics. At university it is considered as unreliable. Feminism is an ideology and as with all ideologies (conservat ISM, Commun ISM, Fasc ISM) such any deviation from its 'regime of truth' is seen as somehow being 'anti-women'. Let's not forget that Emily Pankhurst did some great things but the police man arresteing her also could not vote (as only land owners could vote - of whatever gender - at that time). She was also a Tory ! Erin Pizzy and Hoff Sommers are the finest feminist academics out there. They just question the received wisdom. I think that is Christina Hoff Sommers point. Your statement is semantically imploding upon itself. We need to address the facts. The fact is Children are starving because of this propaganda machine.
