Sexist or clever parody?

There is a bit of male totty in there too. But I had to close DH's jaw for him yesterday when I caught him drooling over it.

I saw it yesterday. Was a bit at the time, too.

All of them are horrible, dh thinks its hilarious how wound up I get by them

I saw it yesterday and now I don't want to fly Virgin ever again.

this ad wouldn't deter me booking.in fact its aesthetically eye catching,good song.most likely do well for them

yep.im a consumer i can chose what to buy.that the point of multiple retailers. and whilst i naturally dont buy i beat up the wife t-shirt i do buy other stuff

nor do i do that angsty chin stroking right on shopping eg no nestle,no starbuck,no gap, no tesco.

i shop by price,availability and desirability.in fact like most others do

I like the ad because it's arty and stylish. Supposedly we are to overlook the sexism in it because it's retro and is being subtly mocked.

But the problem I have with this that whether ironic or not it still has the same effect: girls are still gonna watch it and see men as pilots, women as stewardesses: made up to the nines, wearing high-heels and tucking men into bed.

christ sake you can challenge what you see on telly to young girls
just because its on telly doesnt make it truism or irrefutable fact. if it irks that the hosties are female and pilot male, then do discuss with dd or young girls about female pilots.amelia earhart springs to mind!

really this notion that just because something is on telly or media doesn't make it so.it isnt that pervasive or persuasive. you can challenge and assert a different pov you know. so no just because this ad is on telly doesn't mean wee lassies will think that their destiny is to tuck others up or serve fish,chicken,or rice

I never actually said that it did, but again I don't think it's as simple as that because that one ad is part of a whole host of things that put together do present a monolithic picture and obviously do have an effect. After all how many female commercial pilots are there? And I don't really want to keep on having to explain to my DS that you know girls can be pilots too, that'd be a bit odd. Which is probably why I don't have TV.

And really there is no need to blaspheme at me! I was just expressing my opinion in a non-aggressive way. I wasn't berating you for not agreeing with me, just expressing my own opinion which is what the OP asked us to do.

The uniform is less sexist than it was; for one the skirts are longer.
Branson is nothing like as bad as people I have worked for (Al Fayad for one).
I actually like the airline, and they do like kids. Oh and they don't loose my luggage.
I was sorry that it doesn't have: a female pilot or male flight attendants.
BTW I know female pilots.

I actually like the fact that the people in the body imager are all men, and the girl taking off her heels at the end.

Oohh, I struggle with this ad!
On one hand, it's SO cool - love the track, witty, self-mocking (bloke posing in the scanner, women taking off her shoes at the end), clever Bond rip off, beautifully shot etc.
BUT it is obviously deeply sexist - all women airhostesses, young/glammed & heeled, tucking men into bad. I hate myself for enjoying it

No, I had to point out that it was blasphemy, seeing as you were intent on trying to tell Orange otherwise... I'm not offended by it, but you don't know if orange is a christian, or just takes offence at being spoken to in the term you did.

Please don't start with the "SM is being targeted" bingo again. I'd hope someone pulled me up if I was being blasphemous and it offended them, or if I was being misogynistic, derailing a thread or came across as an MRA. funnypeculiar, I struggle with it too. I even found myself chuckling at the male pole dancers, but there's so much I hate about it, whilst enjoying it at the same time
