Feminism chat thread II

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 22/02/2011 00:30

Since it looks like the first chat thread is about to fill up, here's the next one all ready and waiting.

Think of it as the gated commune with babysitting on demand and gorgeous poolboys serving the drinks :o

I'm fine really though, just a bit teary. And wanted to know that someone was out there.

sethstarkaddersmackerel · 19/04/2011 09:59

I'm here too Alice, and hopefully around much of today if you want to talk any more. xx

AyeRobot · 19/04/2011 10:04

Yes, I believe you. And you know that there always people here to listen if you need to talk. "Fine" is such a codeword, isn't it? Smile

jenny60 · 19/04/2011 10:07

Hi Alice: sorry to break in but am a serious lurker/poster when I can be. Wanted to say I believe you too and am here if you need a feminist ear.

ChristinedePizan · 19/04/2011 10:13

I believe you too Alice

Beachcomber · 19/04/2011 10:17

Me too Alice. x

Will go away too though if too many people being around is inhibiting. Take care.

AliceWorld · 19/04/2011 10:17

Thanks all. And sorry for making the chat thread me me me Wink.
I'm fine as in compared to many situations I have read where you really are worried for the poster, I'm fine.

sethstarkaddersmackerel · 19/04/2011 10:19

ah well it shifts from one poster to the next Alice, that's the great thing about the chat thread Wink

AliceWorld · 19/04/2011 10:25

Exactly why I chose it. Wish we had a real chat bit in this section as I now feel a bit bad on the women of Afghanistan.

ChristinedePizan · 19/04/2011 10:28

Much like starving children in Africa not having much impact on children's desire to eat their dinner, women's situation in Afghanistan doesn't detract from your situation (whatever it is) being difficult so don't feel bad.

TheBossofMe · 19/04/2011 10:30

Hello all. I hope you don't mind my selfish intrusion, but would you mind awfully popping over to my thread here:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/1197340-Breast-reconstruction-would-I-be-betraying-my-feminist-principles/AllOnOnePage#24948574

and giving me some help with a bit of a thorny issue. I'd really appreciate everyone's thoughts - its a personal problem but somehow I find myself unable to sort my thoughts out on my own and would really appreciate a bit of input before I descend into a quagmire of self-loathing!

Thank you.

BoM kept starting a reply and then stopping, so will persist. Might be a head dump jumble

Thanks Dittany

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 19/04/2011 10:53

I'm here too, Alice, and I believe you.

steamedtreaclesponge · 19/04/2011 11:20

I believe you too, Alice.

Afraid I don't really have anything constructive to add to the thread right now but just thought I'd pop by and say hello...

EggyFucker · 19/04/2011 11:48

dipping in and out today

Alice, you know we are here if you want to talk

if not, just hangin' out with me homies < ahem >

TheBossofMe · 19/04/2011 12:11

Alice - just caught up with the thread whilst trying to summon up the energy to lever my backside out of its seat and head home, and just wanted to say hello, tell you how interesting I've found your posts on this thread and wish you well - I believe you and i want you to know that.

Really going home now!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 19/04/2011 13:56

You definitely deserve sugar, or honey or some kind of delicious flavoured syrup or anything else you like. How are you feeling?

I am chuckling at EggyFucker dipping in and out. Can we call you soft-boiled for short?

dipping in to say I just ate the most humungous easter cupcake with yellow cream icing about 2 inches thick

I had to share that since we are talking about sweet things

Unrulysun · 19/04/2011 17:02
  1. Alice if it's taken this long to get to where you are then it probably is very emotional so you're allowed to feel that and you can talk to us because that's what this thread is for.

  2. Femtastic it's the 'chat' thread. Not the 'be a cock' thread. No shortage of those though so do feel free to browse.

  3. Dittany - it's projection pure and simple.

  4. when we say 'my lawn is lush and fertile' we're not actually talking about a lawn are we? I thought we were in metaphor country but then got v confused by all the dandelioning.

  5. Elephants told us that she'd made cinder toffee at Christmas. That's a woman who can make a crunchie, right there. That's why I'm joining the East London Feminist Alliance

  6. I didn't get my job. Now I have to tell them they are sexist bastards without sounding all sour grapes. That's not going to be easy.

Unrulysun · 19/04/2011 17:02

Glad I got that off my chest...

sethstarkaddersmackerel · 19/04/2011 17:17
  1. Sorry about your job Unruly.

  2. don't worry, he's been banned again.

  3. yes it is a literal lawn. Whaddya trying to say, that feminists can't have lawns or somethin'? Wink
Just seemed like the right moment to mention it.
Though I have to say, ever since I stopped shaving my legs I have had an unhealthy obsession with mowing it and judging other people's.
