A challenge to Mumsnet

Ah, sorry DF- I just literally stumbled across it while googling a feminist writer that this liberalconspiracy site don't like, and the word mumsnet jumped out at me from a recent article.

Must..go..now...arrgh

I didn't realise it was a well-known site. I'd never heard of it. They seem to think we are the proverbial dog's bollocks though, bending the ear of the prime minister etc etc.

I think in their own minds they are really very influential.

Blah blah blah. I can see some reasonable points, but a hell of a lot of reflecting on themselves needs doing.

I honestly had no idea that site existed- it seems that there is a whole hinterland of posers on the web who think that their wittering to each other actually makes any difference.

Jeez- at least I'm not on here to pretend it's anything other than chit-chat. Entertaining, mostly, and sometimes informative, but I am cringing a little bit at the idea of all these Web Wolfies.

She is annoyed that she can't control the political debate, and that we don't agree with her. She seems to think that Mumsnet is some kind of Stalinist organisation, where the Mumsnet organisation is responsible for the beliefs of posters and where everybody is on message. Mumsnet is not Liberal Conspiracy.

Anyone know why they call themselves Liberal Conspiracy? Is it some kind of in-joke?

Lol BoF at the hinterland of witterers. It does seem a bit like that. When you go into the blogosphere you climb into a little tin box where every utterance seems to make a huge noise that deafens insiders, but which can be barely heard from the outside.

It's a funny site - the contributors seem to be the main commenters as well these days.

Well they all had a good old look, but most of them just came up with "well I don't agree with some posters but it's not hate speech and stupid to judge the whole site on a couple of posts anyway."

And at this from Ellie's final comment: "The current campaign is to get Walmart to pay its employees a living wage of 35c an hour...Realistic and reasonable aims, you might say, that should be supported more widely by those George is appealing to i.e. mumsnet." Well, my dear, why not reg on here and start a thread, rather than just whining that we're not doing your distant bidding?

I suppose she has no truck with SMART goals, as part of the liberal conspiracy, and thinks we should be campaigning about Every Single Bad Thing In The World All The Time, or we are just, like, really bad people, yah?
