I just thought it would be nice to have a thread on people waiting for smear results

I've just had my first one and currently waiting two weeks , I'm quite anxious as they found cervix ecropian and I've been having bleeding after sex

Anyone interested in joining for a hand hold and to support each other?

@Ellabella989 it could of been just a random Heavy period , shouldn't be too long now for you!!

I've still not heard anything. Surely this long wait isn't good if you do need treatment with anything. I'm going to ring my doctors monday.

I had my smear last week, so think I have another 2 weeks for results .

My first smear when I was 25 had abnormal cells. Had a loop and then colposcopys every 6 months for 5 years, they were all clear after the loop. That was 3 years ago.

I've recently been having bleeding during and after sex, large amounts of discharge and random period type pains.

Getting ever so slightly concerned!

@BertieDrapper hello , anyone's welcome it's a worrying time even if you've never had an abnormal one!
Did the nurse mention anything about ecropian? That makes you bleed during and after sex.
Try not to worry though if it is anything they'll treat you straight away and you'll have the best chance you can xx

She asked if I was on the pill.... I'm not and haven't been for nearly 10 years.

There was blood on the speculam as well x

@BertieDrapper the nurse asked me that too , and I said not for about 8 years And she said you have ecropian and it's common when your on the the pill x

She didn't look or say anything else..... the first time bled during sex, it was a lot! Not just spotting. I thought I had come on early.....
hopefully it is just this ecropian thing though 🤞🏻 x

I had mine Friday. First time I have ever gone over but I was only three months over and trying to get an appointment was difficult. I met this nurse for the first time but as I was telling her I had my implant removed privately and had my depo injection privately because of problems getting appointments she told me about an nhs hub where she used to work. This turned out to be where I saw my private doc, she knew him well so left my nether regions getting fresh air while we had a gossip!
Now waiting for results but she did say if I didn't hear in two weeks to call and she would chase them.

Hows everyone doing? I've got my gynaecologist appointment on the 13th can't wait, still spotting although it did stop for a week a while back :/

Still waiting on my smear result (coming up on 5 weeks).

I'm sure you'll be glad to get your gynae appt out of the way!

@lemonjumper I'm actually looking forward to it , still spotting ! Been doing pregnancy tests and always negative just to rule that out, sick. Ow, hoping they find out what the white areas in my womb are because it's got me worried !

That's a long time!

Hi, I had my smear roughly a couple months ago, I was told my results would take up to 2 weeks but if everything was clear I wouldn't hear anything.. or at least that's what I thought as that's how it goes with other swabs. A few weeks had passed and I'd not received a letter so I just presumed everything was well and left it at that. Bang on a month had passed, I then randomly received a letter and to my surprise it said some unusual cells had been found! Thankfully it did say I was "low risk" but I tested positive for hpv. Even though I was low risk I was really worried and then had to wait another few weeks before my hospital app. I got a separate letter about a week after the results letter with my hospital app. The day finally came which was just yesterday! they basically took a close look at my cervix which came up on a screen so was able to see very clearly, thankfully they said everything looked okay and the change in cells has been put down to the hpv virus. I have to have another smear in 12 months time just to check things are still okay but they said there's nothing to worry about. I was in and out of there within around 10 minutes, everyone was nice enough and it wasn't painful or anything like that, just along the lines of having your smear done.

Coming up 7 weeks now still heard nothing I'm now 8 weeks pregnant also x

I hit the 3 week mark on Tuesday, still waiting. I go away tomorrow so if doesn't arrive today I won't get it till I get home in a weeks time.
I had a false positive on a pregnancy test this week, so did think the bleeding I'd had could've been that. But no.

Anyway, good luck to anyone else still waiting xxx

@anitagreen congratulations!! Hopefully they won't be long now. Did you ring he doctors to ask ?
