I just thought it would be nice to have a thread on people waiting for smear results

I've just had my first one and currently waiting two weeks , I'm quite anxious as they found cervix ecropian and I've been having bleeding after sex

Anyone interested in joining for a hand hold and to support each other?

@bk00 a little stressed but nothing else I can do except wait it's annoying though

I had mine 4 weeks ago and still waiting for the letter with results. I get myself so anxious as soon as i received the letter for me to make the appointment.
We only used to have to wait 2 weeks for results 😢

Appointment about 2 weeks ago. Results currently take 5-6 weeks due to recent increase in uptake following publicity campaign.

I received my results within 2 weeks but then that made me more anxious thinking was it urgent as nurse mentioned some cervical erosion. Results were normal but I do suffer with health anxiety

Hows everyone doing?
I got a letter today saying I've been refers to a gynaecologist with an urgent appointment :) worried a bit because of the Urgent but we'll see!!

I've still heard nothing they did say 12 weeks tho x

Hi ladies.

This is the 6th week of waiting for my results. I called the surgery last weds and they said no results back yet but call back Monday if I'd not had letter. So I called back yesterday and receptionist confirmed all negative and normal recall. Said I'd probably get the letter today or tomorrow.

12 weeks is awful! I breathed a massive sigh of relief after the phone call yesterday

So relieved butterfly! I don't need to have a panic attack when I see the letter now and leave it on kitchen side till I build the courage to open it lol.

I hope you get sorted soon. Have they mentioned lasering the etropian?

@hannah1992 no haven't really spoke to anyone who specialises in that field just the gp, she said she wasn't too concerned about the white areas in womb on scan but sent me for an urgent referral to gynaecologist within two weeks so it has got me thinking... just gotta wait for a call about an appointment now x

Hey, finally got my results today and I have low grade dyskariosis and was positive for the HPV virus.

I have to go to hospital for a colposcopy but they don't think I'll need treatment.

Will they also treat the virus at the same time? I'm so confused.

Wish I had got a different result but what can you do? At least I can get it sorted

It's been 6 weeks for me now 😩

I'm starting to get really anxious, especially because I've had some spotting recently outside of my period

I called the doctor today and they said they've not had the results back yet and to call back on 7th May if I've still not received them and they'll chase them up with the hospital

@LizaCarlisle oh I'm sorry to hear they weren't clear, if they might not treat them at least they aren't worrying about anything, hopefully the colposcopy goes ok for you xx

@polkadotpixie it can't be too long now for your results ! Hopefully they'll be back by this week!

I'm waiting to go for my smear , you can't have it done while your bleeding and I bleed constantly , I have more days that I bleed than I don't , including after sex I bleed now . Every time I book it I end up having to cancel because I end up bleeding that day . I've tried ringing up the days I aren't bleeding and they say they can't fit me in . So I don't really know what I'm going to do !

@lahdeedah2019 do you have a sexual health clinic nearby? In my area, the sexual health clinic has drop in clinics so you don't need an appointment. I had my smear test done in the drop in clinic last week.

@lahdeedah2019 have you seen the doctor about the bleeding? (Sorry if it's mentioned earlier upthread and I missed it) Your doctor should make a gynae referral and they will examine you as long as you are not having a proper period (which is what happened to me).

I’m waiting for my results and it’s been almost 4 weeks now (I’m in Derbyshire). It’s giving me the worst anxiety as I bled quite a bit during the smear which has never happened to me before and I’m worried there’s something wrong.
I had cin2 4 years ago and had 1inch of my cervix removed. My smear after that was normal so I hope everything’s ok this time. My period was heavier than normal this month too :-(

Also have to go for a swab next week to check for things like STDs and thrush as the nurse wants to rule everything out with why I was bleeding during the smear

For those waiting on results letter.

I had mine on 22/03 rang doctors 30/04 and they had received them on 26/04, told me over the.phone. I only received the letter yesterday. So he results were back at the doctors after 5 weeks, but I didn't get my letter till yesterday which is almost 7 weeks after.

Might be handy to give the surgery a call and see if they have them back yet
