I just thought it would be nice to have a thread on people waiting for smear results

I've just had my first one and currently waiting two weeks , I'm quite anxious as they found cervix ecropian and I've been having bleeding after sex

Anyone interested in joining for a hand hold and to support each other?

@LizaCarlisle I'm sure your results will be fine but it is the waiting for them that is the worse. My last one was 5 years ago, I'm so stupid but kept having to cancel for various reasons. I'm so anxious now waiting for results. If there was anything showing would the be quicker to let us know!

Strongteaplease · 05/04/2019 16:20

I had my smear 8 days ago as I'd been bleeding for 7 weeks, had a scan which also shows endometriosis, a 4 cm ovarian cyst and fibroids! What else can go wrong? I've been referred to see gynaecologist within 14 days and have the appt this Tuesday. Hopefully smear result will be arriving around the same time

butterflykiss00 · 05/04/2019 16:23

@emily199027 oh no
Hopefully Af will stay away! Good luck
With it xx

@hannah1992 I'm 25 and it is horrible , had my blood test yesterday so I have to call for those results on Monday hopefully they'll be ok , I'm feeling a bit anxious again now.
Yeah I'm hoping it's just the polyp and the ecropian giving me
The symptoms x

@LizaCarlisle hopefully by long
For results now, hope you get them soon ! It's such a horrible
Wait when you've had symptoms or in your case a previous abnormal one, we are all here if you need to talk x

butterflykiss00 · 05/04/2019 16:25

@Strongteaplease aw No what a nightmare, hopefully the gynaecologist will treat all those things for you , hopefully smear comes back for you soon although there is a delay at the minute with the labs Shock

Well th3 ca125 test is usually to do with ovarian cancer, so at 25 it's very very unlikely to be that.

Strongteaplease · 05/04/2019 16:34

...I had a high level of ca125 too....and platelets.....☹️. I can't wait until Tuesday to see the consultant. It's worrying

butterflykiss00 · 05/04/2019 16:58

@hannah1992 yeah it is very unlikely:)
@Strongteaplease try not to
Worry I've read that a high ca125 results our mean pregnancy or infection aswell x

OP posts:
Strongteaplease · 05/04/2019 17:16

Yes I'm not thinking the worst as I've read also that high ca125 can be due to all kinds of things including endometriosis, which I've got anyway. I had lots of it removed last year but it's back with a vengeance.

butterflykiss00 · 05/04/2019 21:40

@Strongteaplease I'm so sorry about that, I hope it gets sorted soon although by the sounds of it it will reoccur xx

Got my smear results and they're fine :) so pleased, now just a gynaecologist refferal and a polypectomy and biopsy and I'm all ok :) spotting stopped today aswell so it's all looking good.
Anyone else got their results?

OP posts:
butterflykiss00 · 06/04/2019 15:41

Spotting didn't stop 😐

Glad your results were fine @butterflykiss00 Smile

blackcat86 · 06/04/2019 20:08

Can I join please? I've been waiting 4 weeks for my results and the nurse quoted 8. I had one about 5 years ago and it was an insufficient sample. Stupidly I didn't return but having had the entire population of the UK checking out my vag when I was pregnant, I no longer have any embarrassment for anything. I went back in Nov but she couldn't get a decent sample either but thought this might be because I was 3 months PP. She did mention a fragile cervix though and I bled quite a bit during the procedure. The ameer was repeated and the nurse thinks she has enough cells this time. I'm so anxious and I'll just feel like such an idiot if something is wrong now I have a baby.

butterflykiss00 · 06/04/2019 21:15

@LizaCarlisle thankyou , got blood results Monday and waiting on gyne Referal now x

OP posts:
butterflykiss00 · 06/04/2019 21:17

@blackcat86 dot feel guilty it's easy when you have a baby to forget things, I had mine in the postpartum period aswell and only remembered it because I've been having symptoms and i was referred for it, I hope they have enough cells and good luck on he results xx

OP posts:
blackcat86 · 07/04/2019 04:52

Thanks butterfly. If they didn't get enough cells again I'll be referred to gynea which I could really do without. Fingers crossed I'll get the results soon.

howwilliknoww · 07/04/2019 14:24

Brilliant news @butterflykiss00 that your smear test has come back normal.
I'm waiting for mine still but has only been a week but I am so anxious, no symptoms or anything but I just get so anxious about these things, especially as my last smear test was 2014

butterflykiss00 · 07/04/2019 15:52

@howwilliknoww thankyou, I hope they come quick, nothing worse Han sitting in limbo waiting x

@blackcat86 hope they did then! It's awful getting prodded an pocked, I had a polypectomy and that hurt made my eyes water , obviously will be getting it again with it growing back Shock

Rushed the last post 🤦🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
butterflykiss00 · 08/04/2019 14:14

Blood results came back fine, ultrasound results sent to the doctor didn't say anything about the polyp just that the uterus was 5mm ,anverted and there was a echogenic lesion bit no retained placenta . Confused to be honest

OP posts:
emily199027 · 08/04/2019 15:31

@butterflykiss00 so what happens now then for you?

I went for my smear today...to get there to be told I couldn't have it done because I'm not due to have it till September & if the nurse did it & sent it off...they would chuck it in the bin when they received it at the lab. Told her all my symptoms and what's been happening (and still no period - I'm not pregnant) so she did some swabs to check for infections and told me I need to see a doctor in the next week.
The results should be back by next week so I've got to get an appointment next Friday. Although I may get a phone call this Friday if the results have come back and show any infections.
I think she said the swabs were for chlamydia & gonorrhoea which is impossible for me to have (unless DH has been unfaithful which I highly doubt)
So if the swabs are clear I'll be sent for a scan and to Gynecology for further investigation 😕

butterflykiss00 · 08/04/2019 19:24

@emily199027 I'm not sure, the ultrasound man said to ask for referral to gynaecologist

That's a bloody joke! What arse holes, I don't see the harm in having it early and it's important if your having symptoms ! Can't believe they said that, you must be pissed off! Xx
