Anyone else excited about the women's euros? I'd love to follow the progress of the teams (especially England) with any football-supporting Mumsnetters. Thrilled that it's a home tournament, commiserations to Scotland and Wales for not making it through qualification. Huge congratulations to NI, qualifying for the very first time.

Doesn't have to be just match-related, either - comments on the background to each women's team (especially from non-British fans), and of course the kits all welcomed.

Yes I'm so excited! Happy we're leading at half time!

BellaAmorosa · 06/07/2022 21:06

Yay! Someone else! I was feeling very lonely. Fantastic goal by Mead.

Really enjoying it so far

Riverlee · 06/07/2022 21:11

Half watching it whilst mooching on the iPad (and mumsnet). To be honest, finding the commentary a little irritating. I’ve been used to the dulcet tones of the Wimbledon commentators over the last couple of weeks,

AndNorrieDancing · 06/07/2022 21:17

Yes loving it.

Also enjoying the advertising boards that say

'Women play football not womens football'

Love seeing such a crowd and enjoying the game.

BellaAmorosa · 06/07/2022 21:57

That was a really good game. England won deservedly but they can do much better. Austria were organised and had great determination, so I'm glad they weren't absolutely hammered. Also I am an Arsenal fan and three of their players, including the keeper, play/have played for us, so I would have been sad for them!

I was there tonight ! Was amazing!!! Great atmosphere 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

DuncinToffee · 07/07/2022 11:50

Thanks for the thread!

I enjoyed last night's match, England wasn't at their best but a win is a win.

They are definitely one of the favourites.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 07/07/2022 15:28

I was there as well. Great atmosphere, shame about the pretty poor second half.

We had such a good evening that we looked into going to a couple more fixtures. Leigh and MCFC academy are both sold out so might look at Rotherham.

Queenoftheashes · 07/07/2022 15:29

I was there too! Excellent atmosphere. bit worried about lack of goals but it’s early days. I’m attending the Spain Denmark match at Brentford but the other ones available are too annoying to get to (already used a day’s leave to get to Manchester).

Jowak1 · 07/07/2022 15:39

I was there too! It was such a fantastic atmosphere. I went with my 11 year old daughter and her best friend who both play in a local girls North Manchester team. It's brilliant they can go and watch football with women playing and great for them to look up to and be interested in !

DuncinToffee · 07/07/2022 20:01

Come on Northern Ireland!

BellaAmorosa · 07/07/2022 20:29

Their kit looks like the German ki

Jowak love reading posts like that, so important for young girls to realise their dreams are a possibility. Doesn't matter if they never tread that path, its the fact that they have the opportunity for the dreams to become reality.

AndNobbyDancing · 07/07/2022 20:33

So close to saving that

BellaAmorosa · 07/07/2022 20:35

@AndNobbyDancing
I'm watching on a delay so I will look forward to that save!

Norway are too strong and fast but that second goal was sloppy.

BellaAmorosa · 07/07/2022 20:40

Ah, just seen the goal and I realise I completely misread. Sorry, @AndNobbyDancing .

DuncinToffee · 07/07/2022 21:08

Yes, get in!

AndNobbyDancing · 07/07/2022 21:18

Sorry Bella I will wait to comment next time.

Good crowd considering it wasn't well advertised and that buying tickets was a rigmarole.

To those that have already watched a match, did you upload your passport?

Queenoftheashes · 07/07/2022 21:36

I didn’t - I emailed them asking WHY it was needed and they basically said “just in case” but no one needed ID in the end

DuncinToffee · 07/07/2022 21:56

FT 4-1

Great fans

Hope Simone Magill is ok.

BellaAmorosa · 08/07/2022 11:06

@DuncinToffee
The fans were great, weren't they? It's heartwarming and humbling to see them all celebrating just being there.
NI put in a much better performance in the second half. Good goal, as well.

Bad news for N.I

Confirmation that Simone Magill is out of Euro2022 after suffering a 'serious knee injury'. She is set to undergo a scan later today which will confirm the extent of the injury.
