Just setting up a chat to firm up plans for a Southern meet up and a Northern meet up.

Lets see who is interested, then firm up locations and dates.

I know there are a few of us who want to come but might not be able to make it, so no judgement at all for those who decide nearer the time that they can’t make it. Hope to meet some of you this year!

That's me! I'm still not 100% sure of my dates but I will pin them down asap - but obviously I don't expect everyone to work around one person's availability.

DD may have put in a brief appearance at the Manchester meet-up, although motivated more by cake than maternal safety.

Just putting the idea out there, but in York, the Bar Convent has a newly-rediscovered medieval manuscript going on display, its cafe can take reservations for up to 15 people (although it closes earlier than is ideal), down the street are two excellent second-hand book shops and it's close to the train station and parking...

Ooh, my memories of York are that it was a fabulous place for bookworms to explore. My mum worked at the university through my childhood - a 40 mile commute - and we occasionally went into town to visit the shops there. My dad moved to Australia when I was 18 to take up an academic post, but at some point on a return visit, took me on a day out to York to trawl the secondhand bookshops and bought me a very large amount of them. This must have been over 30 years ago so I don't know how many of the places we went to are left.....

I know this is very short notice, but in addition to more organised meet up plans, @highlandcoo and I are planning a mini-meetup near Finsbury Park tomorrow (Tuesday 1 April). Anyone who can make plans to join us is very welcome to PM me and/or @highlandcoo for details and to let us know you're coming - I think our plans include a snacky lunch, a shop offering lots of tempting new books (including Women's Prize and other award related displays, and several charity shops including a charity bookshop).

I'm hoping to come to at least one of the big meet-ups and would also be up for other mini meetups ones for others living in/near London or visiting with time to spare.

Good grief I'm an idiot. It turns out that I will not in face be in London in June, it will be end of July and the first half of August.

Sorry for being so off base and if plans are already being hatched for June, please go ahead without me. Not sure whether to blame perimenopausal brain fog or poor family communications but I am highly irritated with myself.

@Boiledeggandtoast that also happened to me in both emails I sent. A very brief message popped up and seemed to say that it was a matter of security, so I'm hoping the PMs sorted themselves out eventually.

@bibliomania your York suggestion sounds great. I'm not sure how available I am this summer but fingers crossed ..

Ooh I'm definitely up for this and could go north or south or both being Midlands based, depending on when they are arranged for!
