Just setting up a chat to firm up plans for a Southern meet up and a Northern meet up.

Lets see who is interested, then firm up locations and dates.

I know there are a few of us who want to come but might not be able to make it, so no judgement at all for those who decide nearer the time that they can’t make it. Hope to meet some of you this year!

This really made me giggle.

I reached the grand height of 5’2 aged 12 and have stayed there ever since.

I’m much better at writing than talking - although I can be articulate on a subject of special interest (luckily books are one), I can also be stunned into near selective mutism with social crowds or new people.

So pleased to be doing this again. I’m London based so happy to try and coordinate that.

I will also date/train cost pending come along to the Northern one if I can.

I really had such a lovely time at both last year.

I really enjoyed the London meet-up last year and would love to come to another gathering. Am not a social butterfly unfortunately but everyone was very kind and friendly.

And no hat? My head has failed us!

Well, you sound lovely. I'm sorry you find crowds/new people so horribly stressful. I go shy or gobby - neither is ideal.

This has picked up while I’ve been working! I definitely have a mental image of each of you, which is very probably completely wrong.

@AgualusasLoverif you don’t mind organising the Southern meet-up again (I think you did it last year didn’t you?) that would be great.

I'm exactly the same, I’m either crippingly shy, or nervously over-talkative, so that I feel I’ve put people off either way.

I would love to join a London meet up and think I'll be in England for 2 to 3 weeks in June, but I know that I will be very lucky if my diary and the thread diary align. Will lurk here nonetheless!

@MamaNewtNewt shall we start with June for London to capture @noodlezoodle ans Sept for north to potential get @LadybirdDaphne and if not we can go back to the drawing board?

To reassure people, both meet ups last time had room for taking a breather etc without too much frame.
Manchester was in the back room of a bookshop so you could go off and browse, plus enough of us that convo sometimes became smaller groups rather than always having to speak to everyone. London involved some walking about and pottering in book shops, and we had lunch at a pub where we were spread over smaller tables but opposite the second hand book shops, so smaller and able to easily take time out.

I am the queen of typos - ‘without too much fuss’.

I'd be very interested in the London meet up please. Sadly I wasn't able to make it last year.

Frankly, if any of us were glittering social butterflies, we wouldn't spend so much time with books.....I'd start from an assumption of fairly widespread social awkwardness.

Feel like Durham has been promoted a bit there 😂.
