Furiously updating my amazon order tracking, I predict it will arrive about 10 mins before I need to leave to do school pick up tomorrow 😭

Thanks for the spoiler thread @Civilservant

For some reason I had the 5th September in my head. I must check my audible account!!!

Latenightreader · 01/09/2025 16:48

I'd forgotten it was tomorrow! That solves my audiobook for the long commute.

@NotMyRealAccount
What's the detective book? I love recommendations 😁

Not a recent one. A Small Death in Lisbon by Robert Wilson. I enjoyed his Falcón quadrilogy, which I'd probably never have picked up if it hadn't been set in Seville, and then decided to give some of his other novels a whirl.

I'm not going to get anywhere close to finishing it before the Amazon van pulls up tomorrow.

MonkeyTennis34 · 01/09/2025 16:58

So excited for tomorrow. Can’t wait to read more about Strike and Robin….oh, and the crime/whodunnit element too!

Civilservant · 01/09/2025 18:46

Audible had better release it at a reasonable time!

KittytheHare · 01/09/2025 18:49

Just ordered on Audible, and got an email saying it’s expected on Sept 9th??!!

Civilservant · 01/09/2025 18:54

WHAT @KittytheHare ?!?

KittytheHare · 01/09/2025 18:55

I know!! Why on earth would there be a delay on an audio book? Maybe it’s a mistake.

Civilservant · 01/09/2025 18:56

Just checked: I pre ordered and it says it will be added to my library when released tomorrow.

Read Running Grave rather than wait for the audible, for speed, then decided not to listen to that one due to the content, mainly what Robin went through when with the cult. Hoping this book will be less harrowing!

outofofficeagain · 01/09/2025 19:08

I have been sleeping terribly and finally getting back on track. Must not wake at 3am and go straight in!

My audible app says 7 hours and 47 mins, which is 3am!

I had assumed earlier that it was counting down to midnight, am actually quite glad it isn't then because I'd be too tempted to stay up.

I do really want to read the actual book first though, so am going to try my hardest to wait for that to arrive!

Workisntworking · 01/09/2025 19:35

My husband ordered it via Amazon last December and it's saying it's arriving on 11 September.
I could cry!

You can't have Prime, then? Just checked if I pre-order today it will be delivered on Wednesday. But I'm getting my copy from Waterstones (the same price as Amazon are selling it as).

Workisntworking · 01/09/2025 22:34

No, he has Prime, which is why he ordered it for me. 😞

TheHallmarkedMan · 01/09/2025 23:39

Beside myself waiting for this book. I could easily pull an all nighter if Audible released it at midnight. I remember reading the Order of the Phoenix all through the night back in the day. I was traumatised at the end! (God bless my lost youth)

Feejoah · 02/09/2025 01:39

I've got mine here in NZ! Woop!

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 02/09/2025 03:10

My Audible copy is here 😃
31 hours 7 minutes.

Flatandhappy · 02/09/2025 03:41

Arrived an hour ago (Australia). Sitting in front of the fire with a cup of tea about to start it, that’s the rest of my day gone 😊

BabyCatFace · 02/09/2025 05:36

Good morning! I just started it on audible. Looking forward to discussion!

Secondthoughtso · 02/09/2025 07:17

Just started on audible. Unfortunately lack of proofreading strikes again in chapter 2! Valentine Longcaster is described as charlottes close friend - in the ink black heart and the running grave he’s charlottes half brother. ! So annoying - who are these editors who can’t pick up the basics!

otherwise I’m already completely absorbed. Pity my toddler will be up in 20 minutes 😂

RubieChewsDay · 02/09/2025 07:24

I caved and have listened to the first chapter.

no spoilers, but the epigraph for the entire book, which was all I was going to listen to, feels so ominous!!!

As the book goes on it kind of clears that up.

It says he's her step brother - is that what you're remembering? I don't know TBH

HoneyButterPopcorn · 02/09/2025 07:54

I’m picking my copy up today. Very excited.

outofofficeagain · 28/08/2025 16:16

My prediction is they will get together at the end. This is the last book so no danger or Mulder & Scully (and I’m old enough to remember Moonlighting) going weird.

NO NO NOOOOO - you’re lying! You are telling lies!
