Released September 2025!!

OP posts:
Civilservant · 06/07/2025 22:10

I wish it was out sooner too!

upinaballoon · 06/07/2025 22:28

No. I'm not going out of my mind but I am quietly aware that September is not far away. Meanwhile, I've read a real book that I chose to read rather than listening to one or having to read the Reading Group one. I have a friend who is waiting for September, too.
I must google to see if the last one is being dramatised. The Running Grave.

SolidarityCone · 06/07/2025 22:30

@upinaballoon i wish I could just be ‘quietly aware’! I might try reading the next shardlake I have in as a distraction as I’ve not finished them all. Filming for TRG is starting in September apparently, I think it could be a good adaption.

upinaballoon · 07/07/2025 11:12

Was the 'leader of the pack' called Jonathan? I remember discussions somewhere on MN or Reddit about who might play his part.

Lins77 · 07/07/2025 11:14

Looking forward to this! I might do some rereading in preparation....

drspouse · 07/07/2025 11:30

Am also looking forward to it! I'm hoping to get the audio book out of the library (though I'll probably buy the physical book), and am constantly refreshing their page to be first in the waiting list).

Civilservant · 07/07/2025 11:38

The Running Grave could be great televised.

Is that the one where Robin goes undercover in a cult? I really enjoyed that one!

drspouse · 07/07/2025 11:54

I think that one is in the pipeline. Not that I stalk the Cormoran Strike subreddit or anything.

Teddy589 · 07/07/2025 12:00

I am so looking forward to September, I am such as late joiner to Strike through that I’ve still got Ink Black Heart to read and watch (plus some of Troubled Blood to watch) between now and then!

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 07/07/2025 12:23

RobinEllacotStrike · 10/03/2025 18:59

I know I've spelt Ellacott wrong - sigh!

That dismembered leg won’t get delivered unless you spell her name with 2 T’s!

SolidarityCone · 07/07/2025 12:25

@Teddy589 did you read the running grave before ink black heart? Either way it’s so nice having one in the bank before September!

Filming for TRG is apparently starting in September, it took nearly a year between IBH filming and release, so we might get the TV adaption next summer? Might be perfect to fill the void between 8 and 9?!

IamEarthymama · 07/07/2025 15:04

I always do a reread before the next Robin and Strike novel comes out so that I am fully immersed in that world.*
I am trying to work out when I need to start my reread/relisten to be finished by the release date for the Hallmarked Man.
I think I will aim for the last week of July.
Then I can have a little break before picking up my pre-ordered hardback copy on the day and going to my favourite cafe for breakfast.
I have already ordered the audiobook and will probably listen when I have finished my first read.
I really am looking forward to it, I love JKR.

*I am currently in a relisten of Rivers of London as I hadn’t realised that Ben Aaronovitch had a new novel just out.
I am obsessed with books, both physical and online, my absolute favourite things.

Yes I read TRG first! So the Strike-Robin relationship arc has been a bit spoilt for me through the other books, but have still really enjoyed them all so far.

RobinEllacotStrike · 07/07/2025 17:19

"I have already ordered the audiobook and will probably listen when I have finished my first read."

I do this too - furiously read the book at greedy speed first time, and then calm down a bit and settle into Robert Glenisters lovely audiobook version.

I also minimise socila media engagement until I've finished the book to avoid risk of spoilers

the80sweregreat · 07/07/2025 17:35

I wish that Robin had arranged a contraceptive implant before going into the cult and to stop becoming pregnant with Ryan which is what I feel might happen :( it’s bound to not go smoothly now she knows how strike really feels about her.

I also do this, I reread the whole series. And I am also wondering when to start! - last year I misjudged, and life got too busy, and so I was a couple of weeks after release date before I finally managed to start on TRG Confused

I think an unwanted pregnancy for Robin and JKR pitching it from a feminist perspective is quite likely too. Plus it would be an interesting parallel with Lethal White when Strike thought she was pregnant when she actually wasn't.

I am not on board with ANY Bijou pregnancy theories though!

the80sweregreat · 08/07/2025 10:04

I’m not sure how it’ll pan out with Robin and strike to be honest. Getting them together will kill off the whole ‘ Will they won’t they ‘ vibe, which is why I feel a pregnancy may be on the cards, but I don’t want her to be with Ryan either! A child will really stop her career or make it really difficult at least and it’s all she’s ever wanted was this job too plus Ryan seems flaky and not right for her ( of course )
Such a dilemma for both Robin and Strike now! Be interesting to see what happens next.

Civilservant · 08/07/2025 10:38

Will they won’t they can be dragged on TOO long, and there’s loads of interesting story options about people in relationships too.

I’d dislike a Robin pregnancy storyline as she’s been through more than enough!

the80sweregreat · 08/07/2025 12:35

It might be fun having them as partners with their jobs and a relationship! ( I know Pat might not be totally on board with it , but they can win her round 😆 )
I feel they could separate the two and still work well together. I could imagine Ryan becoming jealous, or hopefully moving away and never spoken of again!

RobinEllacotStrike · 08/07/2025 14:30

I really need at least one book with Strike & Robin as a couple.
But more would be welcomed

Civilservant · 08/07/2025 18:32

Still think Ryan could be a bad’un, or if not at least behave problematically post break up.

mylovedoesitgood · 19/07/2025 11:41

It’s not out yet for another seven weeks but already seven people have reserved five copies in my borough! I wanted to start reading it the day it was published so I think I‘ll cough up the money to pay for it - it may be really cheap at a supermarket.

drspouse · 19/07/2025 12:38

I'm no 36 on our library list, will probably pre order though!
