psychomum5 · 18/01/2008 11:55

ooh....we up to the 12 then!

small prob my end tho....I not yet set up with CAT, so either me or flame will sort and contact later or on the weekend if that is ok?

so exciting

rosmerta · 18/01/2008 13:32

I can't cat either

FlameNFurter · 18/01/2008 16:14

Have CATed you both mine and Psycho's details.

FlameNFurter · 18/01/2008 16:24

Just checking on the details to this - we send on the book that we were sent the last month yes? So just 12 books in total in circulation?

Or do we send a different book of our own each month?

(The first makes more sense to me but don't want to be confused )

CocoDeBearisCocoDeBear · 18/01/2008 18:21

We each choose just one book that we have read and enjoyed to send, and that book works it's way round the book circle. After 12 months, theoretically, you get your original (now splattered wth old food, with bath-water soaked pages and child's doodles on) book back.

So I guess choose a book to send that you have really enjoyed, but which is not a family heirloom or prized treasure.

No chick lit.

I will get DH to tell me how to set up an e-mail address for book circle members who can't CAT. (I'm a technophobe.) Don't really want to post my normal e-mail address on the thread, as it is my real full name.

Am all excited about the Book Circle .

what is CAT and how do I do it??? is it private messageing???

rosmerta · 18/01/2008 19:16

missing, if you have a look at the blue bar at the top you'll see 'Contact a Mumsnetter', you have to sign up for it (£5 for the year I think) and then you can CAT other people!

I just need to renew mine & then I'll be in touch!

missingtheaction · 18/01/2008 19:41

done mine now, thanks

Does Jane Austen count as Chicklit????? (just joking)

FlameNFurter · 18/01/2008 19:58

All excited about my book being bath soaked, food splatter and child drawn on

whispywhisp · 18/01/2008 21:18

Can we have some guidance on what book to choose? I see no chicklit is mentioned....but can we have a run through of what people actually like to read so we don't all choose something we all hate?

CocoDeBearisCocoDeBear · 18/01/2008 21:27

If you can't CAT then e-mail me at:

[email protected]

whispywhisp, personally I'm just anti-chick lit. If anyone else has any major hates then let us know!

OP posts:
FlameNFurter · 18/01/2008 21:33

My only strong hate is jane Eyre

Other than that I will read absolutely anything.

psychomum5 · 18/01/2008 21:36

not liking poetry here, altho to be fair, that wouldn;t come under fiction really would it.

oh, and not a lover of sci-fi either, altho have not tried really hard with it either, so could possibly be surprised!

really really love crime tho, so if someone hates it then I had better be aware, as that would be the book I would choose to pass on!

FlameNFurter · 18/01/2008 21:39
psychomum5 · 18/01/2008 21:41

hey flame....I am passing to you!!!!

otherwise no-one would get a book with my lack of being able to remember to post anything!!

FlameNFurter · 18/01/2008 21:42

Might be worth mentioning that to coco... But still, you can't pass me the book I have read.

I have no idea what I am sending...

whispywhisp · 18/01/2008 21:45

Enclopaedia Brittannica?

psychomum5 · 18/01/2008 21:47

what about the book I also have and that got poured wine on

altho, that is part of a set, so totally unfair maybe!

what about......hmmmmm......oh well, dunno......maybe we should go shopping for something!

FlameNFurter · 18/01/2008 22:18

Oi! I've read that!! Will go look now and see if it is in returnable condition...

FlameNFurter · 18/01/2008 22:22

Oooh - spine is a bit cracked, but I think it is ok

whispywhisp · 18/01/2008 22:29

Cracked spines, wine stains, doodled on, food splatters and steamed from the bath....oh my god....what are we all going to end up with? I can't wait. !!!!

FlameNFurter · 18/01/2008 22:32

lmao - NOT the cracked spine one... that one we are considering if it looks new enough to be returned in place of the wine stained one (she bought the book... i already had it at my house for our set - we share a set is that odd?... she planned to return and then carelessly let Psychogirl2 pour wine over it... you can work out the rest)

psychomum5 · 18/01/2008 22:39

I did not let psychogirl2 pour wine on it....she tried to look at the pretty label and caused the wine to fall out of the bottle.....all over my as yet unread and brand new book, AND my carpet.....!

what a waste of decent wine

missingtheaction · 19/01/2008 11:57

i want to try stuff i would normally not pick up in a bookshop so please send me anything, whoever is sending to me! no rules need apply
