Room With A View is indeed Florence, and I have it in my stack, along with Medici Money (history) and A Rich Full Death (re-read, Michael Dibdin, crime fiction based around the Brownings and Dante and completely ace. Sadly I had to purchase a second copy as I can't find mine )
It is our tenth wedding anniversary, so I feel we've kind of earned it We have been away without the kids before, but usually only overnight - once for two nights (for our 5th anniversary).
Squilly, I loved Cloud Atlas too! Think there are several David Mitchell fans on MN.
My real downfall for uncontrollable book-buying has been the Galloway and Porter (local remainders bookshop) warehouse sale. As well as the usual slop, they have really decent literary fiction from e.g. Bloomsbury, Faber, Granta... plus a really good selection of crime fiction (guilty pleasures etc.) - and in their regular warehouse sales, it's almost all on sale for a quid each. WAY too easy to come home with a tottering stack.
I'm not going to confess to how many unread books I have on my shelves. Was finally forced to admit publicly I had a Problem last week when arrived home late from an event; DH was entertaining friends, and I had to admit that the stack of 5 jiffy bags that had come in the post for me were, yes, all books...
Right. Enough waffle. I haven't had a book this month so don't actually have a circle book to post on. In order to help put us back in working order, shall I pick something new and post it on to rosmerta? Also, I still haven't written up my last month's book as I couldn't work out which thread to put it in - wondering whether to just start a new one?
