Don't post here if you don't want to know who dies and what happens.

You've been warned.

OP posts:

made me love him even more when he was coming to terms with the fact that he had to sacrifice himself....and lily, james, sirius and lupin being there for him......touches my heart immensly.....the childhoood innocence seemed to return at the moment he was asking if it hurt to die......almost like asking if an injection stings iyswim

tigerschick · 03/08/2007 12:45

Not only did I post a rubbish list but I forgot that this was the spoiler thread so didn't need to put a warning up!!

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 03/08/2007 12:57

Yes I also loved how he called him Tom. V looking for the horcuxes thinking he'd hidden that he was related to the Gaunts and that no-one would know about the cave made me think just the same as the Room of R thing.

KitsAndBits · 03/08/2007 13:11

Hi,

i know he told neveille nagini had to be killed but she was a horcrux and apparently they can only be killed in certain ways ~(like with basalisk venom)

so it doesnt make sense that he just lobbed her head off does it?

wouldnt he have had to do it with the swordof griffindor (as that had the power to kill horcruxes) but griphook had taken it hadnt he?

So i dont understand how he killed her so easily!

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 03/08/2007 13:12

He did have the Sword of Gryfindor. He pulled it out of the Sorting Hat.

MrsWeasley · 03/08/2007 13:13

the sword appeared in the sorting hat (in the same way as it appeared in CofS) which neville was forced to wear by V.

KitsAndBits · 03/08/2007 13:13

neville did?

how did it get there> i though griphook had buggered off with it (must of been dozing off during this part - lol)

KitsAndBits · 03/08/2007 13:14

oooh right, i get it now!

thanks

MrsWeasley · 03/08/2007 13:14

jolly good

boogiewoogie · 03/08/2007 13:15

K and B, your question has been answered several times already. Neville had the sorting hat on him and as he is a true Griffindor, asked for the sword and pulled it out of the hat.

I almost missed that bit too until I reread it.

KitsAndBits · 03/08/2007 13:18

well sorry, havent read the whole thread

boogiewoogie · 03/08/2007 13:20

You needn't apologise.
Some kind posters have answered as soon as you had posted your q the first time you asked so no need to read the whole thread.

KitsAndBits · 03/08/2007 13:27

err...right ok.

MrsWeasley · 03/08/2007 13:27

dont apologise we love to "chat" about Harry.

PhoenixSongbird · 03/08/2007 13:30

There's a good bit in the JKR web chat about Neville's moment. How Griphook was wrong about the true owners of the sword and Neville proved that.

PhoenixSongbird · 03/08/2007 13:31

I've just got to '19 years later' on my re-read and the forest chapter is so good, I'm not surprised it's JKR's fave. The bit that really got me was Lily saying 'you've been so brave'. Oh God!

MrsWeasley · 03/08/2007 13:47

oh I know exactly what you mean. Its even better second (and 3rd ) time around isnt it?

tigerschick · 03/08/2007 15:36

I had promised that my mum could borrow my copy last Thursday. I only finished my first read on Tuesday so I only had time to re-read the last few chapters. I started from where they meet Neville in the Hog's Head. I really wanted to read more but I didn't have time. I think I enjoyed it even more the second time round as I had the luxury of knowing how it all turns out (not so much need for breath holding!)

fawkeoff · 03/08/2007 15:45

yeah the sword will always appear to a true gryffindor if he needs it.........neville was a proper trooper was'nt he..........i must admit that i though it would have been ace if he'd have killed bellatrix, until mrs w did it so well

fawkeoff · 03/08/2007 15:46

i enjoyed it more the 2nd time round.....still exciting and sad......only differance was my heart wasnt in my mouth every 10 seconds

tigerschick · 03/08/2007 15:51

I'm glad that Neville had a part to play - even if we didn't see most of what he did. But have to agree that Mrs Weasley was crying out for a better role - and, boy, did she fulfill that

fawkeoff · 03/08/2007 15:56

yeah i really missed the burrow in this book, kind of peed me off that everyone had to go to bill and fleurs house........i know its lame but i just love the burrow.....and the weasleys

fawkeoff · 03/08/2007 15:57

i know the burow WAS in it but i missed it being a safe haven when everyone was being saved from the malfoy house

tigerschick · 03/08/2007 16:31

Agree that it would have been nice to go back to the Burrow. But I think that MrsW made such a big thing about not letting H, R & H be alone together in the build up to B&F's wedding, that it would have been impossible for them to plan the trip to Gringotts if she had been around.

BigGitDad · 03/08/2007 16:55

Can you remind me of the significance of Neville? He had his parents in hospital did he? And was he kind of the weedy one?
I lent my book to someone else else and wished I'd kept it to re read again now!!
May get another one
