Don't post here if you don't want to know who dies and what happens.

You've been warned.

'scar'

cheritongirl · 25/07/2007 15:35

am i allowed in without an HP name???!

ooh i loved it although could have done with a glossary of terms as i kept getting confused and am still mulling over the events of the book to try and understand what really happened!
loved the last chapter though, made me all teary...especially when i realized in this book that harry is only a year younger than me! And now i am having kids too...

yes i think i will re-read all of them to understand them all better now!

tigerschick · 25/07/2007 15:48

If there is anything you didn't understand, there is a good run-down of the story on Wikipedia.

Theclosetpagan · 25/07/2007 15:59

..was going to end with the word "scar" but didn't. Fabulous book - couldn't put it down.

apparently in JKR's Big plan she was going to kill off Arthur in book 5 but couldnt do it

rosmerta · 25/07/2007 19:20

I might be shouted at here but I think I'd have rather Arthur died & then Fred & George would still be together running their shop.

I know what you mean I always said I didnt want 1 twin to go.

tigerschick · 25/07/2007 20:16

Have to say I agree too. Loosing a parent from the Weasley's would affect them more as a family - make them pull together and help at home a bit more.

FlameParakeet · 25/07/2007 20:19

"We're identical!"

MrsWeasley · 25/07/2007 20:21

I ROFL at that line, still chuckle

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 25/07/2007 20:57

I know they were identical and all but Fred was my favourite. And he gets the tragic lines in DH like..."When I get married...".

TheDuchessOfNorks · 25/07/2007 21:38

Wants the HP encyclopedia now, now, now.

TheDuchessOfNorks · 25/07/2007 21:39

Hogwarts, even!

the luna & dean "thing" is interesting JKR says dean had a great history but it had to be cut.

Something for the new book then

mollymawk · 25/07/2007 23:55

I have just finished reading this (didn't really mean to until I saw it on sale in the supermarket on Saturday!). I'm glad I read it when it came out. It was fun to be part of a "phenomenon" - every morning there has been someone else on the train reading it. And this morning a young girl was mad keen to tell me that she had already finished hers (I asked her not to tell me what happened...).
And I wish I knew more about the psychology of myths. This series makes me think how few stories there are in human culture that are actually different.

read it in a day finished it yesterday what a brilliant book, it made me laugh, and my me cry my eyes out, a book that can do that to someone is fantastic jk is a wonderful writter.

Steward · 26/07/2007 09:05

Did anyone notice a couple of things in the book that has come full circle. Harry was asked to be Teddy's godfather who later looses his parents like Harry. And Ron and Hermonie hated each other at times but got it together. Lily hated James but they ended up married.

Just an odservation.

LazyLineLegilimens · 26/07/2007 09:09

So is Teddy Lupin destined to be a boy who is somewhat alone with the weight of the world on his shoulders, like those before him who see Hogwarts as home with no parents? Snape, Riddle, Harry and now Teddy?

MrsWeasley · 26/07/2007 10:22

no teddy will not have had the sad childhood that the others had. Firstly he would be living with his grandparent and he has Harry and there is no way harry wouldn't look out for him. He already goes to Harry's 4 times a week at least!

He will grow up knowing

  1. how wonderful his parents were and
  2. thats he is loved (lots)

Also by killing Remus( ) it took away the element of danger for Teddy. In POA it explains that a werewolf would kill his best friend, it doesnt know what it is doing etc so by killing him off it took all danger!

katiebell100 · 26/07/2007 10:31

Dean's back story is on JKR's website, but basically, his dad was a wizard who wouldn't join the death eaters so they killed him. None of Dean's family know, which is why he couldn't prove his blood status in DH and had to go on the run even though he is a half blood.

Almost finished the second reading and I enjoyed it more the second time as I wasn't rushing to finish it.

juicychops · 26/07/2007 12:26

The girl teddy was snogging at the end, was that Bill and Fleur's daughter?
