Don't post here if you don't want to know who dies and what happens.

You've been warned.

SHe likes male orphans.

It's how she gets her kicks.

I know what you mean though.

allmytimeonmumsnet · 24/07/2007 11:05

V repents: I'm sure Vic is a girl but a bit further down there was a discussion about how a lot of people first thought Victoirie (sp?) was a boy. Given Lupins worry about passing on his werewolfness and the fact the both Vic and Ted are part WW I thought that them both being blokes might be a neat way of getting round the worry about their own offspring.

VoldemortrepentsandmarriesLuna · 24/07/2007 11:06

Certainly would be one way.

VoldemortrepentsandmarriesLuna · 24/07/2007 11:07

I'm still confused about Bill.

He got bit.

HE know likes raw meat - is he a werewolf, or does he just have tendancies?

I loved it. Thought Kingsley's patronus appearing at the wedding was unbelievably shocking, cried at all the deaths, cried again when Harry used the ressurection stone, was glad that H, H & R didn't die. The one thing that was missing for me was Dumbledore's letter to Petunia. I really wanted to know what he said that made her take Harry in and why she kept him there.

EscapeFrom · 24/07/2007 12:13

Oh poor Snape, poor poor Snape. Poor boy, and poor man.

tigerschick · 24/07/2007 12:22

I really enjoyed the story. It did pretty much everything I wanted/expected it to do. The only critisism I'd have, apart from the one about the epilogue I put further down as kneazlechick, is that I'd have liked them to stop fannying about in the tent and get to Hogwarts a bit sooner. Then we could have had more about Neville, McGonnagle etc. It sounds like there was a lot going on and it would have made a pretty good story on its own!

Apart from that, no complaints. Really enjoyed it.

VoldemortrepentsandmarriesLuna · 24/07/2007 12:26

I think I agree with you there.

While I didn't mind the faffing about bits, I would have liked to hear more about Neville and the DA.

persephonesnape · 24/07/2007 12:29

escape from - they're all happy in wherever the train from kings cross goes. Snape wouldn't have feared death.

something which bothered me (slightly) was dumbeldores cold bloodedness. i guess you have to be when at war and everything for the cause etc, but V would have had to kill snape for the elder wand if it had been won fairly, rather than planned... so DD planned snapes death as well as harrys ( even though the plan came a little unstuck.) however i think this makes gambons DD as believable as harris'. he's not a nice twinkly old man at all!

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 24/07/2007 13:43

I still think Gambon is wrong and the main scene that proves this is his reaction when harry's name comes out of the goblet of fire. It's just wrong.

Dumbledior · 24/07/2007 15:05

I agree re Gambon being wrong as Dumbledorw. They could at least have kept the look the same as RH. But no, they changed the whole look.

Wisteria · 24/07/2007 15:34

Dahlia - if no one else has taken you up on the offer of a cover swap; may I, please?

Wisteria · 24/07/2007 15:37

Oh - and totally agree with Armadillo that the epilogue was pointless; too vague to be conclusive and not vague enough to leave any room for creative editing by me in my warped little mind!

Dandi · 24/07/2007 15:41

Enjoyed reading all the comments so much - noone else I know as finished it and I needed to know that other people were as sad as I was that Lupin died. Did anyone else think when Lupin asked Harry to be the godfather - nooo, that means you're toast?

Did Dumbledore not realise that Happy wouldn't actually die coz V had Harry's blood in him?

fawkeoff · 24/07/2007 15:48

dumbledore must have known at the end of the goblet of fire that harry now had a loophole to death,i jst thought it was so sad that tonks and lupin had to die......i mean come on she had killed off enough ppl she could have spared them

Dandi · 24/07/2007 15:59

agree fawkeoff (great name)

not quite sure why I liked Lupin so much - maybe because he gave out chocolate to cheer people up

ThestralFeet · 24/07/2007 16:04

The ending did seem a bit rushed. Lupin and Tonks' demise could have been covered better imho. Found it difficult to be sad because their bodies just appeared with no preamble at all.

Agree Tigerschick, the epilogue could have been more descriptive. I was expecting a character by character account of how their lives had gone!

tigerschick · 24/07/2007 16:04
                                            • * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * **

What got me about Lupin and Tonks was that there was no reference to their actual deaths. You didn't even hear of them fighting. They just turned up dead. Also that it was described like all the Weasleys were, understandably, huddled round Fred's body and no-one was crying over Tonks and Lupin. It would have better to me if Lupin had died whilst protecting Tonks and she was there crying over him. For me, it is seeing the grief in other characters that makes deaths in stories sad, like when Harry insists on digging Dobby's grave . So if Lupin died, Tonks' grief would have made it more touching somehow. Does that make sense?

Rosylily · 24/07/2007 16:04

I really liked that 'expelliarmus' was Harry's signature spell and that was how he defeated Voldemort in the end, while Voldemorts own killing spell back fired on him yet again. And Harry remained on the moral high ground by sticking to his defensive spell.

Thought the image of the flayed baby thing as a one seventh of Voldemorts soul was a good though horrible description and would suggest that the remaining bit of soul in Voldemort was just as pathetic and broken.

It will be a fabulous series for teenagers to study at school for english lit I think.

Rosylily · 24/07/2007 16:07

*For me the saddest death was Snapes.

Rosylily · 24/07/2007 16:08

**oops

ThestralFeet · 24/07/2007 16:09

That's what I thought too Tigerschick, but you put it much better than I did!

tigerschick · 24/07/2007 16:09

Agree about the spells Roselily - I said in the build-up threads that I really hoped Harry didn't have to use an Unforgiveable Curse to get rid of Voldemort. I know he Imperiused the goblin and Travers in Gringotts but he didn't have to ues AK - which was great.

tigerschick · 24/07/2007 16:11

you are too kind Threstralfeet - I didn't see the x-posts!

btw is that you, Tigerfeet? I changed back! - Obviously!!

ThestralFeet · 24/07/2007 16:14

Yup, it's me, but I haven't got round to changing back yet - I was well behind the times changing to a HP name, last on the bus as usual
