Don't post here if you don't want to know who dies and what happens.

You've been warned.

I thought Ollivander was sort of a git.

I was expected more to have happened with Petunia and am disappointed that it didn't. She was always waiting to be developed.

Think Tonks dying was a little unnecessary but JK seems to like have orphans.

TBH I would have though more were going to die, bit disapointed more didn't in a wierd way.

Though would have been completely gutted if Neville had died. Wish we had seen more of him and the DA. HE should ahve got it on with Luna.

TheArmadillo · 22/07/2007 22:26

Ollivander always came off as kinda slimy.

Sirius is the one that gets me. He always comes off as a bully ime - especially the way he acted at school and how he acted towards Kreacher.

expatinscotland · 22/07/2007 22:28

I couldn't agree more, Armadillo.

He wasn't a sympathetic character at all. He even treated his brother badly and the brother turned out to be more sympathetic than he did.

I mean, why did he have it out for Snape straightaway? He didn't even know him.

TBH, James seemed sort of a twonk, too.

I don't buy it how Lily hooked up with him.

Weak subplot.

OP posts:
TheArmadillo · 22/07/2007 22:31

definately agree with you on that.

James and Sirius were a nasty combination. The kind of popular boy at school - favoured by the teachers, but actually bullying all teh other ones.

It seems strange if Lily was as described then she woudl go for them.

TheDuchessOfFawkesBride · 22/07/2007 22:32

I did spray coffee all over kitchen table when Hermione called Ron an 'arse'. It looks really funny in print!

I'm also pleased that Kreacher turned out OK.

Adored the bit where Professor Sprout and Neville are legging it into battle armed with mandrakes and ear muffs.

And, assuming it's done well, all those marching statues and suits of armour are going to look awesome on film. The last battle will need to be done on a really epic scale.

expatinscotland · 22/07/2007 22:34

It was both Sirius' and James' arrogance - their hubris, if you will - that got them killed.

James tried to take on Voldemort with no wand.

Sirius was mocking his cousin and not giving her full credit.

OP posts:
TheDuchessOfFawkesBride · 22/07/2007 22:34

I agree, James & Sirius were nasty spoilt brats and they don't even seem to have achieved very much.

expatinscotland · 22/07/2007 22:35

I think she patterned them on the twat boys at school.

They both died young.

Going with who got reprieved...

It had to be Hagrid surely? He seemed like he was dead, it would have been more moving if he was, and then he suddenly pops up again

expatinscotland · 22/07/2007 22:39

And why waste Colin Cheevey?

That seemed sort of Columbine-ish.

But how many of Harry's nearest and dearest can JK kill off? - she's killed off his parents, Godfather, beloved Headmaster, his fathers only other decent friend and his favourite Auror. I think Hagrid would have overdone the personal loss - although I was half-expecting it!

expatinscotland · 22/07/2007 22:54

And yet Harry only used an Unforgiveable Curse once.

Oh, the irony!

He didn't kill his nemesis, his nemesis killed himself!

OP posts:
TheDuchessOfFawkesBride · 22/07/2007 23:01

I quite liked the last duel.

I've always thought that Harry should taunt Voldemort more by yelling at him 'oooh killing a school boy, you big all-powerful wizard, everyone will be impressed by that. Not'. And by laughing at his adopted title of 'Lord'. Because that's actually a really embarassing thing for Riddle to have done. It's really childish, like pretending that your real mum is Madonna.

Dahlia · 22/07/2007 23:05

I loved it when Harry attacked the death eater who spat at McGonagall. I wish she had featured more, and that it had been said in the last chapter what had happened to her. I always really liked her.

expatinscotland · 22/07/2007 23:06

I always liked Flitwick.

OP posts:
Dahlia · 22/07/2007 23:08

Yes, I liked Flitwick, and Sprout. Oh, LOVED the bit where Trelawney chucked the crystal ball on greyback's head! Classic!

expatinscotland · 22/07/2007 23:11

It was pretty funny how Amycus caught Harry at the Ravenclaw statue 'wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure,' and he said something like, 'guess that leaves you pretty skint just now, potter.'

I feel like I did when the last episode of 'Friends' aired. Its very hard when a long running story comes to an end. I feel quite low.

Nymphadora · 23/07/2007 09:21

Mrs Weasley was fab!

I loved the bit where Snape went through the window and McGonagells response!

Nymphadora · 23/07/2007 09:23

Also wish I hadn't read the 19yeas later bit

katiebell100 · 23/07/2007 09:38

Lupin was always going to go, Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs, they died in reverse order, sorry about Tonks, but at least Teddy had a Gran and Harry.

I found it hard to have sympathy with James and Sirius, but I guess it was supposed to show that Snape drove Lily to James by his own treatment of her. They did have some redeeming features tough, they fought in the first order, they would have died for their friends, they weren't judgemental of Lupin and they all sacrificed themselves for Harry.

I wish we knew what had happened to George and Luna, but was glad to see that Percy was still a crashing bore right till the end

MrsWeasley · 23/07/2007 09:49

hi rosmerta, I was good wasnt I?
I didn't know I had it in me! LOL

So glad she did "something" and not just make everyones food!

I was a bit let down by Lupin and Tonks getting married and Lupin not even telling Harry! I thought that wasnt right

MrsWeasley · 23/07/2007 09:51

I still dont like snape, hiding in bushes wathcing little girls on swings not right in my book!LOL
