Don't post here if you don't want to know who dies and what happens.

You've been warned.

Oh, yes, because those books are so full of smut and swearing.

I don't think anyone's getting particularly worked up about it.

I assume she's writing for an audience the same age as HP (and has done all along). Those who have grown up with the characters, although the books haven't all come out one a year.

TBH for the very young ones I think the death is more inappropriate than the language (which I think is quite mild).

wolveschick · 22/07/2007 20:21

I wasnt actually criticizing the language, just commenting on it and it actually fitted the characters/ circumstances-it just sets this book apart as more dark/dangerouos etc etc

merrygoround · 22/07/2007 20:31

Loved the story, loved the ending, sobbed through most of the last few chapters, Dobby's death really beautifully handled, think there is something wrong with me as I feel so moved by the whole thing and can't seem to snap back into "normal" life. Just want to mooch around and start reading it all over again.

MrsWeasley · 22/07/2007 20:47

sobbed through all the deaths. Cant beleive Lupin died

dobby's death was very

So glad kreacher came good. (I love house elfs )

Funniest line ever was in the 7 potters chapter when the twins were poly juiced into HP and the said "WOW we're indentical" I roared!! also LOL at the "yeah ear ear" I'm easily pleased!

rosmerta · 22/07/2007 21:18

Hi MrsW, very proud of you btw , loved Kreacher at the end, that was so cool!

gringottsgoblin · 22/07/2007 21:18

Wasn't it because Petunia loved her sister?

CharleeWeasley · 22/07/2007 21:56

Ok, finally got the kids to bed............. heres my thoughts if anyones interestd.

I loved the book, i loved the fact that the ending was predictable i wouldn't want it any other way i also loved the fact that Snaoe came good and the Malfoys wern't as evil as first thought.

It was all very fast paced which was excellent so much action in every page.

The deaths were really sad and kind on unneccissary i think?
Kreacher was great so was Dobby and all the Hogwarts elves at the end burstiong out the Kitchen to fight!

Glad Ron and Hermoine finally got together it only took 7 books!

Quite sad not more of it was set at Hogwarts but still really great book.

expatinscotland · 22/07/2007 21:58

I hope he moved back to number 12 Grimmauld Place and had Kreacher as a house elf. After all, he married a pure blood .

Well, yes, Harry of course. Who else would live at No. 12, seeing as all the Blacks are dead ?

OP posts:
CharleeWeasley · 22/07/2007 22:02

Yes i hope he did to it would kind of complete things.

TheArmadillo · 22/07/2007 22:02

DO you think they managed to get rid of Mrs Black's portrait Or do they use her as a bogeyman for the kiddies.

I'm glad Kreacher's happy now.

expatinscotland · 22/07/2007 22:03

Hermoine probably figured out a way to get rid of Mrs Black's portrait.

And Sirius' posters!

Oh, I forgot to add Rufus Scrimgeour and Peter Pettigrew to the original body count.

OP posts:
CharleeWeasley · 22/07/2007 22:07

Quite glad Crabbe died him and Goyle always got on my nerves!

gringottsgoblin · 22/07/2007 22:08

thought there would be a bit more to it than just petunia being alright really, bit disappointing but i guess thats why its a kids book, there isnt deep meaning to it all. sort of wish i hadnt got so sucked into discussions about it, i might have been more surprised then!

we are watching prisoner of azkaban and its quite upsetting watching the ones who are going to die! especially the twins

expatinscotland · 22/07/2007 22:08

And that Crabbe's last words were, 'What's a die-dem?'

OP posts:
CharleeWeasley · 22/07/2007 22:10

It was horrible that Fred died i kinda thought they should have either both gone together or both survived.............

Lupin and Tonks that was sad especailly after just having Teddy i wanted harry to adopt him like Sirius kind of did to him......

expatinscotland · 22/07/2007 22:10

I think it should have been Charley or Percy Weasley, tbh.

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 22/07/2007 22:12

Wasn't too gutted about Lupin or Tonks, though.

I mean, you could sort of see Lupin coming - he was the last of the 4 friends still alive.

And Tonks, well, you could sort of see that, too.

Dobby was just sadness, man.

I'd have been gutted had she offed Kreacher, too.

OP posts:
gringottsgoblin · 22/07/2007 22:14

lupin and tonks have gone so she can start all over again with teddy. cant see why she would have killed both his parents if not, tonks was unnecessary

expatinscotland · 22/07/2007 22:14

Yeah, Tonks was kind of thrown in there. In fact, she didn't really need her mother in there, either, except as some weird foil to her two sisters.

In an interview recently, JK said she reprieved one of the characters who was originally going to die at the end, but two others died instead...So who was that?? She obviously never intended Harry, Ron or Hermione to die. DH a bit disappointed, he thought it would be a total bloodbath a la Peckinpah film at the end... he should prob not be reading childrens books ... Still wish Hedwig had made it, sob
