Is anyone else getting really excited (borderline obsessed)about he new HP book?
I have re-read all the other 6 and everytime I scan down active convos and see "Potty" I heart skips a beat or I hold my breath whilst my eyes focus!!

Please tell me it isn't only me and my DC that are counting the days (hours, minutes, seconds...)

Ron is toast, I tell you. Snape is a goodie and is also toast.

The fact that harry has lily's eyes is 'important' according to JK.

Harry and Giney. Hermy in widows weeds. Nevile is a hero at the end and cops off with loonie lovegood

BandofMothers · 10/05/2007 21:17

Mrs W that is interesting cos Sirius had the other mirror. So how can it play a part unless he is using it.

MrsWeasley · 10/05/2007 21:29

We dont know if Sirius had the mirror on him when he went through the veil! It may have been picked up by someone else. Perhaps its one of the things Mundungus sold.

I Cant wait for July, Kids have picked out their outfits already (mind you its not difficult, black robe and glasses)

Rosylily · 10/05/2007 21:30

Which mirror figures again? The one that shows the hearts desire or the hand mirror? Isn't lily a descendant of griffindor or something?

MrsWeasley · 10/05/2007 21:33

the hand held one that sirius gave to Harry but Harry forgot he had it! at Harry for that one.

OP posts:
Rosylily · 10/05/2007 21:38

that was so tragic! It did seem a huge waste at the time....I had wondered what was the point of it then.....hmmm

Callmemadam · 10/05/2007 21:44

I think that Snape is actually Harry's real father..........

JustTonks · 10/05/2007 21:58

Just got myself a HP name ready

persephonesnape · 10/05/2007 22:15

ahw at tonks.

Tonks is what i mean by more adult themes being introduced as the books progress actually - an awareness by JKR that her readership is maturing = Tonks' love for Rremus and his reaction and withdrawal couldn't have been dealt with in books 1 - 4 - it's complex emotion - which is what Lily and Snape is about as well/

I will post cryptically throughout the day on the day of release btw = chapter one! ooh! fancy!
chapter two - i never! blimey, i didnt think narcissa was capable,., etc etc..

JustTonks · 10/05/2007 22:24

Goodasgold · 10/05/2007 22:44

Does anybody else think that Harry's eyes may be a horcrux...so he could survive but without Lily's eyes.

I don't think Lily was a goer, she was more into books than boys wasn't she?

Also think that Hagrid may die, through the 4th book he talks in a quite fatalistic way, and I can't see his life being great without Dumbledore.

I like all this Harry Potter talk, I've been reading them all through in preparation for the 7th.

LazyLine · 11/05/2007 08:05

GoodasGold, I have also thought this about Harry's eyes. It makes sense to me. Lily's eyes are very important, it would make sense that part of Harry was a hrocrux so he didn't have to die but would still mean he had to make a sacrifice.

However, when I mention it to people they look at me as if I am mad. It sounds better written down than spoken out loud.

DANCESwithnewlytannedlegs · 11/05/2007 08:15

Yuk, yuk, yuk....without his eyes?! No. You are wrong, I'm sure of it!
Also if Snape is Harry's father how come EVERYONE says how much he looks like James (with Lily's eyes)?

Rosylily · 11/05/2007 09:27

I think his eyes show his family connection to Gryfindor and his scar (which burns) is the horcrux. In the end he will be scarless and without half his talents (ie a crappy wizard) but alive!

Rosylily · 11/05/2007 09:30

Ooh and I think big V doesn't know he deposited his horcrux in Harry, it was an accident in the trying to kill baby Harry fiasco.

MrsWeasley · 11/05/2007 09:56

the more i think about it Harry must be a horcrux. But it doesnt mean he has to die! (praying emoticon)

I dont want Hagrid to die either. He is fast becoming my ideal man! He would never moan that his shirts werent ironed because I was "busy"

Last night I had a half dream about Lily and the Weasleys being in some way related. (had been reading about the red hair before retiring!) Perhaps her mother had a fling with a distant weasley relative?

OP posts:
pudding77 · 11/05/2007 10:06

It is starting to make sense but if Harry is the horcrux then while he's alive a part of Voldemort is still alive so....

This is all starting to sound vaguely familiar - didn't we go over this last night?!

Btw Mrs W, I once dreamt about me being Hermione!

MrsWeasley · 11/05/2007 10:30

Yes we did mention this last night but it would leave it open for more books

I did say in my first post that I was borderline obsessed, well I think I can scratch the borderline out now. I am dreaming about HP, I re-read book 1 last night convinced I had "missed" something vital all the other times I've read it and the final straw is when I click on MN I usually go straight to Active Conversations now I check this thread first.

I dont want to read the next book in 1 go, I dont want it to end, I want to savour every word and hidden meaning. I will be seriously gutted if one of my favourites die. Should be book group conselling now or shall I go alone?

OP posts:
pudding77 · 11/05/2007 10:41

Mrs W, I have this thread 'watched' so I know immediately if anyone's posted

I really do need to reread them all to catch up, can't remember much about the horcrux's after all!

Rosylily · 11/05/2007 10:44

I think we might need a debriefing counselling thread on mn for post last HP book!

Rosylily · 11/05/2007 10:47

And everyones who's ridiculous far fetched theories turn out true can come on and boast about being right all along

singingmum · 11/05/2007 11:15

Snape can't be Harry's father.
For one thing it's not just his looks that connect him it's his quidditch skills, his mischievious personality, his caring about people(Lupin tells Harry that his father changed a lot after lily was involved)Also his patronus is a stag the animal his father could become.
Snape removes the memories as he doesn't want Harry to know everything he does and also because to not let Harry know that James saved him.
Snape hates Harry because he is a messed up bloke and also because of Harry's dad.He protects Harry because his life was saved by Harry's dad also because he now realises that Lily was being nice not condesending.
I to think he killed DD on DD's orders to protect Malfoy from becoming his like his father

LazyLine · 11/05/2007 11:54

I assume that Dumbledore was dying anyway (Horcrux, mangled hand) and knew it. I suspect he also knew of the Unbreakable Vow that Snape made with the Malfoys and saw the best way out.

Snape is not evil. Doesn't mean he is a "good guy" though. He is more complicated than that.

MrsWeasley · 11/05/2007 12:23

I think that DD new about the vow and if Snape broke the vow or refused to make it, then V would know that Snape wasn't what he claims to be. Remembering Wormtail was in snapes house when the vow was made, wasnt he?
By Snape remaining undercover it allows snape to inform the order what v is doing!

one theory anyway !

OP posts:
singingmum · 11/05/2007 12:45

Good theory MrsW.
I agree as it was DD who agreed with the sorting hat about the houses being friends. Also the way he talks to Draco seems to me to be telling Draco that he can chose his own future and that there are people who will help him
