Is anyone else getting really excited (borderline obsessed)about he new HP book?
I have re-read all the other 6 and everytime I scan down active convos and see "Potty" I heart skips a beat or I hold my breath whilst my eyes focus!!

Please tell me it isn't only me and my DC that are counting the days (hours, minutes, seconds...)

Well done for winning Doobypoo, very . Is a bit mean if they don't let him go poor lad.

You have to provide proof of age ie birth cert.I have emailed bloomsbury but not heard yet.Its prob for insurance reasons. We live in the republic of ireland and i don't feel i can risk just turning up though i was tempted .We still have the party at the local bookshop to go to though which ds is pleased about.

The Blacks and the Weasleys are linked but then all the pure-blood families are. One of the Blacks married a Prewett which I think is Molly's family. Also one of the people struck of the family tree was taken off as they married a Weasley who the Blacks see as blood-traitors.
I have let my DSs see the first 3 films and I would be happy to let my eldest (7) read the first 3 books too. My youngest is only 4.5 and although he enjoys the films I think the books may be a bit much at the moment for him. They definitely know that television scary is not real but I think that book scary stays in your mind for longer.
Anyway, I we have nearly filled this thread! Perhaps we should start a new one 'still obsessed with Harry Potter?'. Perhaps we should re-locate to The Leaky Cauldron where there is butterbeer on tap for us to theorise over?!

Yes it would seem overly officious if they don't let him go.

Will they not let you go since it is so soon afterwards. Do you have to provide a birth certificate?? Surely they will not be checking.

we'll never know, unless she comes out when all the books are finished.
I loved the bit about rumours where she answered all the whacky theories people have come up with. that was cool.

I can't believe she's not on here. She is a mum of three after all. You're not her are you?

Report
BandofMothers · 21/06/2007 09:34

Yeah, I hope she ties up all the loose ends and questions, and doesn't forget anything.
I was reading stuff on her website, as we all seem to have been the other day, and she was saying that she comes on forums and stuff, but doesn't ever let on who she is.
Wouldn't it be funny if she'd seen this?

Sunshinemummy · 21/06/2007 09:22

Yes. I think she's quite Dickensian in the way things pop up and then all come together and interconnect later on.

Yeah I just read it the locket got such a small mention that you could so easily miss it. She really is a brilliant writer isn't she. So subtle. I love it.

Sunshinemummy · 21/06/2007 09:16

Yes I'm reading it very carefully this time round. I'm just about to get to the bit with the locket in the cabinet and the Black family tree.

you're about where i am, just had the hearing.

Sirius talks about harry's grandparents too, when he says he went to live with them when he left home. it's the only time i remember hearing about them.

Read the bit last night in OOTP about the Goblins. Bill tells the others that if V promises the Goblins the kind of freedoms the wizards have stopped them having for years they are likely to go onto his side. I definitely think all the magical creatures will be involved one way or another.

I think you're right, DD could not possibly have been wrong about it but I wonder how he thought it would be better for him to die than Snape. Which leads me back to thinking that he must have known he was already dying and nothing could save him, which is why he was so desperate to speak to Snape.
I hope Snape redeems himself too.
Persephane, it's a good idea to speed read then slow read, but it has to be the first reading, after that I already know, so it isn't the same. Think I'll see what happens, if DH takes them out I'll sit and read, but slowly so I soak it all up.
Only 1 month to go.
Love the idea of PG 56- I knew it
But who knows whether someone might highjack our lovely thread and spoil it.
Shall have to become a hermit until I have finished it.

Anniealcoholleft-great name btw
Do you know how it is possible for house elves to apparate and disapparate within Hogwarts?
I think it would be nice for children to read the books when they are the same age as the characters, or close to it.
That way they don't get on to snogging until they are 15. Or I am just a bit green?

Sorry, at the time I read about DD's death

Report
mrsharrypotter · 20/06/2007 21:56

It didn't occur to me at the time of DD death that Snape was working on the side of good, but looking back it seems obvious.

Ginny was born 10 days after Harry's 1st birthday, so I suppose it's possible, but I don't think JKR would have included incest in her childrens books!
