Is anyone else getting really excited (borderline obsessed)about he new HP book?
I have re-read all the other 6 and everytime I scan down active convos and see "Potty" I heart skips a beat or I hold my breath whilst my eyes focus!!

Please tell me it isn't only me and my DC that are counting the days (hours, minutes, seconds...)

If you go to the leaky cauldron website you can put in all of your predictions. It does take a while but you can save it & come back to it!

kookaburra · 19/06/2007 20:04

PersephoneSnape - love the idea of werewolfery - what a lovely word - must find a way to slip it casually into convos a@ work tomorrow...
Rosmerta - wish I had your name!!!!

one of the very few things i would like from DHallows is an epilogue. but like the end of six feet under, so everyone dies (eventually) but we read about remus and tonks on their 60th wedding anniversary surrounded by great grandchildren, hermione taking up position as charms professor, ron being a SAHD, ginny becoming minister for magic, snape being headmaster at hogwarts, neville discovering unimaginable plants and curing muggle diseases by their application.... i will feel slightly cheated if JKR doesn't tell us of futures.

dewmeadow · 20/06/2007 08:58

have totally enjoyed teh cheats for JK's website. HOw do you find tings like that by yourself?

Yes, I dfinitely want to know the future too. i notice you dont mention Harry!!!

Sunshinemummy · 20/06/2007 09:10

Just finished HBP last night (and started oTP again) and got really confused by the DD pleading with Snape scene. I can't believe DD was pleading for his life. Do you think they were using legilimency to communicate wordlessly? Was DD really more concerned that Draco wasn't made a murderer and that Snape got to continue with V than with his own life? Also, i can't imagine him pleading when he's always said to Harry that there are things worse than death and that it's just the next great adventure.

rosmerta · 20/06/2007 09:15

I thought that but then I wondered if it was because he was weakened by whatever he'd drank in the cave & the realisation that Snape wasn't on his side after all?

Persephonesnape, I think JK has said there will be an epilogue of what happened to everyone. I reckon Harry will be DADA professor & married to Ginny, Hermione will be the head of Hogwarts, Neville will be herbology professor, don't know about Ron or the others!

BandofMothers · 20/06/2007 09:17

Apparently she wrote the very last chapter of book 7 ages ago and it tells you what they all did in the future after school.

I hope it's nice and long and detailed.

BandofMothers · 20/06/2007 09:23

Sunshine, we think DD was pleading with Snape to kill him, cos if he didn't protect Draco then Snape would die cos he would have broken the unbreakable vow with Draco's mum.
I also think he's made some sort of vow with DD which is why DD trusts him so completely.
Tho as I was reading GoF at the end when DD orders Snape to go and do what he talked to him about doing, ie going back undercover, it says
"and he watched, with a trace of apprehension on his face, as Snape swept wordlessly after Sirius."
So is he apprehensive that V will lure him back and Snape will betray him, or that he will be hurt doing as DD asks him, and risking himself for them all.

Sunshinemummy · 20/06/2007 09:28

I guess so but there is so much about legilimency and occlumency that I can't believe it isn't more important and that it has something to do with why DD trusts Snape.

BandofMothers · 20/06/2007 09:33

oops i think that was a great theory btw. was just saying i think they must have some sort of agreement, perhaps an unbreakable vow as he trusts him so much.
or maybe dd rescued him, or saved his life.
I think you could well be right about silent legilimens communication there[impressed]

dewmeadow · 20/06/2007 09:44

I definitely think DD and Snape had an unbreakable vow which is why Snape killed DD. I wonder as well if Snapes past has something to do with which side Snape is on.

BandofMothers · 20/06/2007 09:47

You mean his past as in loving the dark side??
Or his childhood??

BandofMothers · 20/06/2007 09:49

Tho really any vow that would be fulfilled by killing DD would be good for Voldemort too. So it's still not certain.
I think he's good tho.

Sunshinemummy · 20/06/2007 09:51

Do you think Snape may have been secretly in love with Lily, which is why he went back to DD after V killed her?

BandofMothers · 20/06/2007 09:52

Perhaps, that is interesting. Maybe that's why he hates Harry too.

BandofMothers · 20/06/2007 09:52

Maybe that could also be why he may die saving him.

Sunshinemummy · 20/06/2007 09:58

And maybe that's why him having Lily's eyes is important?

BandofMothers · 20/06/2007 10:00

yeah cos he sees her everytime he looksat harry.
can't imagine snape in love but he must have had women before.

Sunshinemummy · 20/06/2007 10:01

I think that's why he reacts so badly to her trying to stop James taunting him.

BandofMothers · 20/06/2007 10:05

It would be embarrassing to be rescued by the woman you love.

Sunshinemummy · 20/06/2007 10:08

Definitely especially at 16. You'd want to be the one doing the impressing.

BandofMothers · 20/06/2007 10:24

ONLY A MONTH TIL THE NEW BOOK.

DH said he would take the girls out for the day so I could read if I wanted him to (with a you're a saddo look on his face) but he wants to read it too so he wants me to finish it asap.
But really I am torn between sitting all day and reading it to know what happens and taking my time, only reading in the evenings when girls in bed, and spinning it out so that it isn't over too quickly.
I HATE when a good series of books ends.

Sunshinemummy · 20/06/2007 10:32

The way I do it is I read the new book as quickly as possible. Then I start the series again so that DP can read the new one. By the time I get to the new one again, he'll have read it, then I can spin it out.

Songbird · 20/06/2007 10:33

I too have started the marathon of reading the 6 books before no.7 comes out. Having just finished book 1 I was struck a couple of times by the fact that Voldy (sorry JKR) ?didn?t have to kill Lily?. He said this from the back of Quirrell?s head, basically that he would have spared her if she hadn?t tried to save Harry.

Why? Why wouldn?t he kill her if she hadn?t tried to save Harry? Seems a bit weird to me, when he?s murdering people left, right and centre (and with her being a muggle-born). Maybe Voldemort was in love with?.. no, I?m getting ridiculous now!

Also, alluding a bit to the prophecy, Harry (talking about what the centaurs said) says something along the lines of ?maybe V will kill me, maybe that?s written in the stars as well?. Or something. Anyway, I thought it was interesting.

Songbird · 20/06/2007 10:35

I think I?m going to have to read it quickly as bits are bound to be revealed in the press, on MN, on the motorways (remember ?Dumbledore Dies? on the M6?).
