Is anyone else getting really excited (borderline obsessed)about he new HP book?
I have re-read all the other 6 and everytime I scan down active convos and see "Potty" I heart skips a beat or I hold my breath whilst my eyes focus!!

Please tell me it isn't only me and my DC that are counting the days (hours, minutes, seconds...)

Anybody done their Wombat today?

If you go to the closed door the 'Do not Disturb' sign has been taken down. You can open it if you work out the puzzle

mrsharrypotter · 17/06/2007 21:50

I've just done it, I'm supposed to be at work

MrsWeasley · 17/06/2007 23:00

done mine too! Didnt do any of the earlier ones and apparently it takes days to get your results.

I love all the quirky stuff hidden on that site. Some of it takes some finding but worth it IMHO!

Just started OOTP. Gosh GoF is good. Watched GoF last night too and cried a bit when Amos was crying over Cedric's body.
They really miss SO much out
Still.........

I think the Goblin's are already free aren't they. After all they've certainly had plenty of rebellions.
With all the love theory kicking around I was wondering if, bless him, Dobby might be the one to die for Harry to save him. I think he would as he loves Harry so much
As I read I'll suddenly think of things to post on here[saddo] and by the time i come to do it, i can't remember them.

Tho wouldn't Harry have seen the Thestrels on his way home in GoF????

pudding77 · 18/06/2007 09:28

I've decided that the best thing to do with the films is to keep them separate from the books so to enjoy them on their own iyswim.

Btw, how can you get to the door? I've found the wombat thing but don't have a registration, or is that the puzzle? Can somebody CAT me as well pleeeassseeee?

pudding77 · 18/06/2007 09:32

I've found the door but the DND sign is back up?

Sunshinemummy · 18/06/2007 10:37

Reading HBP now - there's loads I'd forgotten in it. Have decided when I finish it am going to read the last three again - I've read the first three that many times now.
From stuff further down the thread - the HBP's book is 50 years old and, I believe did belong to Snape's mum. Ron's birthday must be in mid-March - he mentions to F&G that he's 17 in 2 and a half month's time at Xmas. Also, the Goblins don't have the same level of freedom as Wizard's - that's mentioned in OOTP.
Still no working DVD player so still can't watch the films. DP is out tonight so I might try and fix it myself, but worried about damaging his precious Sky+HD malarkey.

pudding77 · 18/06/2007 11:27

I was the same sunshine, couldn't remember half the stuff that had happened. I think when I first get them, I just read them far too quickly to find out what happens & don't really absorb anything!

Shrinkinglily · 18/06/2007 11:51

i'll eat my hat if voldy wasn't making a horcrux for the murder of Harry which contributed to it backfiring. 7 must be too many when even one horcrux is an extreme thing to do.
If he had any love in his life he maybe wouldn't have felt the need to make horcruxes....
It would make sense when he rejuvenated for him to unmake a horcrux or twoif that's possible. Could there have been a horcrux in the pot?

pudding77 · 18/06/2007 12:12

lol shrinkinglily, was reading a few bits on the JK site today & she said she'd popped into a chatroom to see what people thought and asked if they could please stop calling LV 'voldie' & suggesting that if he had some therapy he could be a really nice person! Your post reminded me of that!

I reckon he did make a horcrux which is what Harry's going to find when he goes to Godric's Hollow

becklespeckledfrog · 18/06/2007 12:17

I think Ron's birthday is March 1st (just googled it).
I don't think that Voldemort would try and make anymore than 7 horcruxes as 7 is an important number magically. He knows that the diary horcrux has been destroyed but DD thinks it doubtfull that he knows that any others have. Perhaps he would try to make another to make it back up to 7 after finding out the diary was destroyed? But I think not, he is too vain to imagine that the others would be found and destroyed.
I do think that a bit of love in his life as a child would have done him wonders but I daresay he still would have been on the dark side given his ancestry. If he had been brought up amongst that he would probably have still been as arrogant and evil but perhaps not so set upon world domination!

Shrinkinglily · 18/06/2007 12:20

Hey my birthday is March 1st...spook..

AnnieAlcoholLeft · 18/06/2007 12:45

Mrs Weasley!!! I'm back!!!!

I've brought back Shamrock flavoured butterbeer, and more homemade fruitcake (to lure back Mr Lupin...)

I hope Wonky behaved herself. She is a bit afraid of ironing, she tends to burn her ears a lot, so sorry that you had to do your own ironing.

Kettle's on, scones in the oven, homemade jam with cream ready to go.

Nymphadora, Mrsharrypotter, and Miss pudding, apart from Wonky (only on MrsWeasley's approval), there are several house elves looking for work while awaiting the upcoming Final Battle against HWMNBN.
They are:
Tinky
Tonky
Dibby
Dabby

pudding77 · 18/06/2007 12:58

Thank you annie, you are a very considerate house elf. I only hope my new house elf, Tinky, is as good and as reliable as you are

LaDiDaDi · 18/06/2007 13:11

Hello, I've been re-reading the books in preparation for Deathly Hallows and following this thread.

I'm near the end of GoF now and last night I started to wonder where the witches and wizards went to school before Hogwarts? Wizarding Primary?? They can't have gone to muggle schools unless they were, like Hermione, muggles.

I know I read something last night that I though was really important but now I can't remember what it was!

MrsWeasley · 18/06/2007 13:13

welcome home Annie house Elf. You have been greatly missed. Wonky was fine but not as super efficient as you

Hope you had a super break. Oh the scones smell lovely. Can I hear Lupin knocking??

Oh just had a thought!!!! Book 7: V falls in love and becomes good . No-one dies and everyone lives to a ripe old age (like DD who was 157 when he died!)
oh and sirius comes back

OP posts:
MrsWeasley · 18/06/2007 13:17

oh the door,on the JKRowling site, is now closed again. It didnt stay open for long, not sure how often it opens. I managed to do mine and was given my Wombat code and now it tells me my paper is being marked! I am quite nervous about it!

OP posts:
pudding77 · 18/06/2007 13:18

damn, I always miss it

persephonesnape · 18/06/2007 13:19

maybe primary age wizards and witches are home edded!?

i'd wondered about this myself as I'm doing a fan fic for my daughter going up to secondary school...and i came to the conclusion that they go to normal muggle schools. i imagine some of them can't keep their temper though and muggle bullies are levitated. maybe wizarding children don't actually become magical until age 11/onset of puberty?

i started re reading HBP as well. I'm busily casting everyone new. scrimgeour = billy connelly. slughorn = matt Lucas..

purpleduck · 18/06/2007 13:38

My 7 year ols has just started reading them. he's just reading the third one, i feel so proud!!!
