obsessed with Harry P?

MrsWeasley · 09/05/2007 11:38

Is anyone else getting really excited (borderline obsessed)about he new HP book?
I have re-read all the other 6 and everytime I scan down active convos and see "Potty" I heart skips a beat or I hold my breath whilst my eyes focus!!

Please tell me it isn't only me and my DC that are counting the days (hours, minutes, seconds...)

Perhaps Kreacher has been told to obey Harry.

tigerschick · 14/06/2007 17:51

good point. Really don't want to throw another spanner in the works but ... Kreacher belonged to Sirius, not Regelus. And, didn't Kreacher tell Bellatrix something about Sirius in OoTP? If so, why wouldn't he mention this ... unless he didn't know what he was doing ... hmm ... still think it's a good theory

seamonster · 14/06/2007 17:52

And don't forget the fountain at the ministry. Backs up the Elf theory perhaps

OliviaMumsnet · 14/06/2007 17:54

So sorry to interrupt but I wanted to check that you'd all seen this week's competition - thought it would be right up your (Diagon) Alley.
Enter here

MrsWeasley · 14/06/2007 18:12

Now I love a competition but hang on a minute: The book will be delivered at 1am! I cant wait 1 hour to start reading it!!!!!]wink]

Love the new suggestions. I have big concerns about kreacher. He was only obeying Sirius when he went to bellatrix (as S. had told him to "get out") and although he is supposed to be loyal to his master we know that house elves dont always to this they just iron their hands afterwards! LOL

I am so glad that other "normal" people get so passionate about the books. I shouted a loud "no you cant" when in OotP Umbridge gives harry more dententions. I wanted to rip her head off.

On a serious note: I am missing my house elf Annie, she always just knew when it as coffee and cake time. Her stand in is very nice but its not the same.

just a shameless plug for BandofMothers very amusing thread here for all those who have missed it.

MrsWho · 14/06/2007 19:28

Kreacher has to obey Harry because he is a house elf and Harry owns him.

My favourite F&G bit is the Gred and Forge bit
and the bit where Ron is a Prefect aand Mrs W says'thats all the family' F&G ' What are we next door neighbours' and the leaving school
and the u-no-poo
and ...............

basically all their bits

kreacher · 14/06/2007 20:12

filthy blood traitors

pudding77 · 14/06/2007 20:16

to kreacher

(that was supposed to be a raspberry btw, not sure how you can write it!)

How is everyone this evening?

What's this boat business you're all on about? Confused

MrsWho · 14/06/2007 20:23

To get the locket horcrux, Hp and DD went in a boat

pudding77 · 14/06/2007 20:25

Ok, must just be getting to that bit! Up to the part where HP & DD are at the cave.

tigerschick · 14/06/2007 20:35

Yep, it comes while they are in the cave. You will be there very soon

pudding77 · 14/06/2007 20:53

thanks tigerschick, also you're not alone in missing the film, I'm not going to see it at the cinema either as dh doesn't like them .

I've been trying to tag along with someone from the thread but with no luck! I promise, I'm not usually a stalker, just desperate

tigerschick · 14/06/2007 20:55

I know, I would like to go to the cinema to watch it but I'm not that desperate to see it () cos I very much from the school that the films are no where near as good as the books... tho, no doubt when I do see it I will love it

becklespeckledfrog · 14/06/2007 21:04

Kreacher didn't belong to Sirius as such, just to the oldest surviving Black. That is why he would have transferred to Bellatrix (not a Black but oldest and closest relative) if he had not been willed to Harry. When Regulus may or may not have gone for the locket I would imagine that his mother was still alive and so Kreacher would have belonged to her. As he is pretty much loyal to everyone Mrs Black thought highly of then he would probably have helped Regulus without question.

Perhaps Kreacher helped Regulus not knowing his plan. Afterwards he told Mrs Black because in his eyes Regulus had done something bad and that is why she smited him off the family tree! (and then confiscated the locket and hushed it all up so Voldie wouldn't find out)

Sirius didn't know why his brother had been blasted off the family tree did he?

pudding77 · 14/06/2007 21:10

I thought Regulus had died as a Death Eater so he wouldn't have been blasted off the family tree would he? I know Sirius was taken off and so was Tonks' mother (Andromeda, btw )!

dewmeadow · 14/06/2007 21:24

Greetings fellow HP nutters!!! I have recently returned to MN and am delighted to find an obsessive HP thread. LOVE IT!!! So am dfinitely joining you and am just about to reread all of teh books in preparation for HP day, which is 1 day before my due date, so Amazon had better deliver as promised!!!

As far as i remember Regulus was blasted off the family tree - is that not in OofP when they're cleaning the house? Really like the Kreature theory. Also didnt connect Kreature with Creature!!

I didnt read the whole way back as my concentration has been much diminshed by pregnancy, but have you already discussed who will die in teh last book?

Shrinkinglily · 14/06/2007 21:35

Hi Dewmeadow!

pudding77 · 14/06/2007 21:36

hi dewmeadow, I too remember the baby brain syndrome, in fact my dh would swear I still have it!!

Just to answer your question, people said who they think it will be. HP, Snape, Voldie, Ron, Hagrid seem to be the most popular!

(I think Snape & Voldie)!

Sunshinemummy · 14/06/2007 21:41

Well Hermyis leading Umbride into the forest to meet Grawp (had anyone else forgotten about him) as we speak. It's all bad from here - sob!

pudding77 · 14/06/2007 21:43

I had to go find out as I was sure I was right: Regulus is on the Black family tree

Family tree

Regulus

kate100 · 14/06/2007 21:59

DH is very pleased that you like his theory, I'm very lucky that he shares my interest, we have to buy 2 copies of the book so we can read it together. Last time we were both sat up in bed in shock as DD died and then we looked at each other and couldn't believe it.

Dewmeadow, I read the last 2 while heavily pregnant and I feel nostalgic.

Is this the longest thread on MN? I bet it will be by 21st July

pudding77 · 15/06/2007 09:05

A thread is full at 1001 posts so we have to try & fill it by the time the book's released - I'm sure we will

becklespeckledfrog · 15/06/2007 10:04

What a fab site Pudding!

pudding77 · 15/06/2007 14:45

thanks beckle, I thought I was going to have to go through the book and type out the para to prove it but no, fortunately there's people more obsessed than we are
