Is anyone else getting really excited (borderline obsessed)about he new HP book?
I have re-read all the other 6 and everytime I scan down active convos and see "Potty" I heart skips a beat or I hold my breath whilst my eyes focus!!

Please tell me it isn't only me and my DC that are counting the days (hours, minutes, seconds...)

Really wish I'd boughthe Cds for in the car when we were away as the famous five soon got boring

LazyLine · 03/06/2007 15:33

I think that Dumbledore did know that he was dying but it's more complicated than that.

I think that DD knows that Snape is key in ending the war and they can't do it without him. He knew that if Snape didn't kill him when Malfoy failed, he would be breaking in Vow to Narcissa and the penalty for that is death.

DD not only didn't want Draco to be a murderer but he didn't want Snape to die.

MrsWeasley · 03/06/2007 19:18

Yes I am starting to think that DD died for the "greater good". (but I am still in tears when I read that chapter )

Snape couldnt avoid making that vow (as wormtail was in his house) so I think DD and snape would have made a plan accordingly.

Clever woman that jk Rowling. Remarkable in fact.

Shrinkinglily · 03/06/2007 19:32

Yes and wasn't there an overheard argument between snape and Dd which could have been to do with Snapes reluctance to kill Dd...

BandofMothers · 03/06/2007 21:30

Not only wormtail but Bellatrix who would love nothing more than to dob Snape in to V.

MrsWho · 03/06/2007 23:04

She is one person I can't wait to see in OOTP so far the stills look like her but hope she can pull off the evilness

pudding77 · 04/06/2007 10:02

Who's playing her?

matilda57 · 04/06/2007 10:19

When I've got a bit of time, I'll read the whole thread .

We're HP mad here. Well, quietly we are anyway - me and ds that is. As he's 16 we have to keep it VERY quiet - it's our secret that we even keep secret from each other. We listen to the tapes in the car on long journeys, and very short ones too. Can't wait for the book? Well, it'll all be over, so not really looking forward to that tbh. Plus only just got over Dumbledore (did my head in that).

MrsWeasley · 04/06/2007 11:25

pudding: its Helena Bonham Carter
See her picture here

pudding77 · 04/06/2007 11:49

Helena Bonham Carter , quirky but not sure if I'd see her as evil

seamonster · 04/06/2007 12:00

I don't know, she'll probably be quite good. I still think Harry's parents (in the film) are too old looking. Weren't they quite young when they died?

singingmum · 04/06/2007 13:11

I think HP's parents would prob be in their late 20's early 30's as thats how Sirius seems and they were all at school together.
Have just started book 5 again. After re-reading book4 watched the film. What an annoying thing, they took out most of the story.Only realised this time around how much they've just chopped and lost. Some of it seems like it should have been in film as important and they just chopped it.Idiots.

MrsWeasley · 04/06/2007 13:33

I agree we were really looking forward to seeing some of the house elfs but alas we were not given that treat.

We now treat the film and books as two very seperate stories. When you read them all again you can really pick up the bits they had to cut. Its like taking a double take especially when different characters are saying each others lines. (eg: in CoS film the story of the chamber is told to them by Prof. McGonagal but in the book its prof Binns.)

I read an interview ages ago with the director and it said if they kept all the book in the film, it would be 10 hours long. Fine by me!

MrsWeasley · 04/06/2007 13:41

this is a good photo of her here

pudding77 · 04/06/2007 13:44

I just don't think they got the essence of the books as such, PoA was a bit better, but it just all seemed very jumpy rather than seamless iyswim.

Still watch them though & still cry at times . Hope they stay for the last 2 otherwise it won't be the same!

DrDaddy · 04/06/2007 14:05

I've just watched the movie trailer for OOTP and couldn't help thinking that Daniel Radcliffe is looking more and more like a young Harry Enfield!

pudding77 · 04/06/2007 14:24

oohhh, that looks so much better than the other films! But he looks nothing like Harry Enfield!

MrsWeasley · 04/06/2007 15:01

DrDaddy. How dare you but then again he does have "loads of money"

OP posts:
Shrinkinglily · 04/06/2007 16:08

Helena looks brilliant there as bellatrix.

DrDaddy · 04/06/2007 16:44

pudding - someone else has spotted the similarity. See here

Sunshinemummy · 04/06/2007 16:54

Started reading them again last week and just got to POA. Am thoroughly enjoying them but not picked up any clues yet.

Songbird · 04/06/2007 20:09

Mmnn. I really like Helena Bottom-Farter as an actress but Bellatrix is supposed to be beautiful (if scary and evil), not quirkily prettyish. Good English there, eh?

I know Bellatrix is supposed to look a bit shite after doing her 'bird', but I vaguely recall something about being able to see the beautiful woman she was amongst the evil or some such.

becklespeckledfrog · 05/06/2007 17:43

Hmm, I think Helena Bonham-Carter is a pretty good choice looks wise actually! Not sure if she'll pull of the evilness of Bellatrix but I think she can pull off the look of once being beautiful. I am looking forward to the film actually although really get annoyed by how much they miss out! I just like to see if they do it how I imagine it to be!

AnnieAlcoholLeft · 06/06/2007 12:29

Love this thread! It has inspired me to dig out my HP books and re-read them before the Deathly Hallows comes out. They have been 'in storage' since we moved last July (i.e. still in a box, but I found them, they were in the bottom one...)
Am I sad to be secretly pleased when the tube is delayed so I can read more?

juicychops · 06/06/2007 12:39

started reading from the beginning last night. I feel like such a child im so excited to get to the 5th and 6th book but ive gotta keep reminding myself to take it slowly or il miss stuff
