Is anyone else getting really excited (borderline obsessed)about he new HP book?
I have re-read all the other 6 and everytime I scan down active convos and see "Potty" I heart skips a beat or I hold my breath whilst my eyes focus!!

Please tell me it isn't only me and my DC that are counting the days (hours, minutes, seconds...)

OP posts:

Aha! I see what you mean, soz! I?m still a bit confused though, when did DD send this patronus with a message?

I know JKR has poo-pooed someone being at the Potter?s, but I think it was wormtail. Might have been Snape though, but I like that theory! Just thought of potential spanner, wormtail was the secret keeper, so noone else could have known where it was, unless he?d told them. He may have told snape I suppose, thinking he was working for voldy.

Songbird · 01/06/2007 09:33

Another thing is, RAB must have been working with someone else to get the locket, didn?t DD say it required two people?

Biglips · 01/06/2007 09:34

just to let you guys know but in the Universal studios in orlando..they are building a harry potter themepark and will be open next year - 2009!.....thats sounds brill!

BandofMothers · 01/06/2007 09:37

The phoenix patronus left the white coffin that DD is buried in at the end of 6. I like that theory. Or perhaps when you die your spirit takes the shape of your patronus. Would make sense that DD's was a phoenix.
Wormtail would go straight to V with tany info as he would want the credit, I think.

Cool about theme park.

BandofMothers · 01/06/2007 09:42

You don't check for ONE day and this thread goes MAD.

I often wondered about the Potters gold. Maybe his parents were killed too and that's how he inherited it.
I thought it said in book 5 that they were Aurors, but I may have just assumed they were as they were in the order. Actually I thought it was a prerequisite to being in the Order.
Also Petunia told Marge he didn't work cos he was a Wizard and they didn't want anyone knowing there were Witches and Wizards in the family. So she lied.

seamonster · 01/06/2007 09:43

We all know Snape is a skilled Legillimens(is that spelt right?) He may have followed Wormtail. Ok of course there are loopholes but hey, I quite like it.

For now.

seamonster · 01/06/2007 09:45

I think his parents died naturally, sorry. I'm off to find some more stuff, will see you all later.

pudding77 · 01/06/2007 09:50

I don't remember anything about them being aurors, Lupin, Snape, Sirius weren't aurors were they? And they were in the Order...

But then I can't remember half the stuff you're all on about! Ds is at nursery this morning, I'm supposed to be working but think I'll go catch up instead!

BandofMothers · 01/06/2007 09:52

I hope we find all the answers to these q's in the next book. There are bound to be some she forgets to answer.
I bet she'll have to make a statement or something if she does.
True about the Legillimency but surely it would be protected from that. It's supposed to be hidden inside . [shrug]

BandofMothers · 01/06/2007 09:55

Pudding, good point. But we don't know what Sirius did before he went to Azkaban, do we. Lupin isn't allowed to do anything as he's a wolfey and I doubt Snape was

seamonster · 01/06/2007 10:03

Wouldn't Lily and James have known their where-abouts?
Now I really am off.

BandofMothers · 01/06/2007 10:20

Yes they knew, but cos it was carried inside a secret keeper, no one else could know or see them unless they were told by the secret keeper. DD said they could press their face up against the window and not see them.
Much like Muggles walking past the Leaky Cauldron and No one knowing where Grimmauld Place is.

kate100 · 01/06/2007 11:47

Wow, this thread has really got going again. I have more questions that I want answered than theories about the resolution. I want to know.....
Where did the Potters get all their money?
Where are the rest of Harry's family?
Why are Lily's eyes so important?
Will Snape be redeemed?
When does James undergo his personality transplant from idiot to hero?
How will Wormtail's life debt be important?
I could go and and on, but most importantly, why is the pay at the Ministry of Magic so crap? I thought the civil servants were supposed to be quite well paid, but the Weasleys are really poor, I'm confused, no one else at the Ministry seems to be so poor.

Songbird · 01/06/2007 12:11

Does anyone else have to feed and clothe 6 children on 1 wage?

I absolutely love the Weasleys, esp Ginny and the twins.

Songbird · 01/06/2007 12:12

Of course it's only 2 now all the rest have left home!

Shrinkinglily · 01/06/2007 12:47

One of my very clever ideas is that Voldemort will become a ghost when he dies....

becklespeckledfrog · 01/06/2007 12:49

OOOOH, I like that one Shrinkinglily! He does think death is the worst thing doesn't he and Nearly Headless Nick said it was a cowards way out or something didn't he, a pale imitation of life. I suppose if he became a poltergeist he could cause some havoc! Would the Death Eaters still follow him if he was a Ghost? He would have no powers...

becklespeckledfrog · 01/06/2007 12:52

Oh, and I think Arthur Weasley was on such crap pay at the ministry cos he did a fairly unimportant job (which he loved). He was promoted though wasn't he in book 6 so am assuming he might have got a bit of a payrise!

Songbird · 01/06/2007 12:53

Apparently we're going to find out more on why some people become ghosts and others don't. Nearly Headless Nick was very insistant that Sirius was dead and gone - why is that I wonder? Anyway, even if DD did become a ghost, could he leave the castle? None of the other school ghosts do, or is that just because they don't want to. Thinking about it, where did the Headless Hunt in Chamber of Secrets come from?

It is almost impossible to imagine how Harry's going to do any of the things he's got to do without DD.

Songbird · 01/06/2007 12:55

I read 'Voldemort will become a ghost when he dies' as Dumbledore will become...

Sorry!

Songbird · 01/06/2007 12:58

Mmnnn, I think when V dies he'll definitely be gone, she can't leave a loose end like that hanging around for someone to pick up when she's been dead 70 years. Mind you, it's a magical world, if someone was so inclined (and legally able!) they could resurrect anyone JKR's killed off!

Songbird · 01/06/2007 13:00

I told dh that I was booking a 'day off' on the 21st, you should have seen his face!

becklespeckledfrog · 01/06/2007 13:01

I have wondered that too Songbird, it seems Harry has such a lot to do. In book 6 when they are in the cave DD is able to find traces of where magic has been, Harry's instincts are going to have to get a lot stronger to carry him through I think, although Hermione and Ron have said they are going with him to Godric's Hollow and she is quite brainy so that will help. Nearly Headless Nick was sure Sirius had moved on because he said that Sirius was not the sort to choose a half-life. Don't know about the Headless Hunt, perhaps ghosts can choose where they haunt? Hmm.
Hope book 7 is not rushed so everything gets fitted in IYKWIM, hope it is a nice long one!

pudding77 · 01/06/2007 13:02

Finished 3, ds in bed for his nap so about to start 4, I'll soon be all caught up!

becklespeckledfrog · 01/06/2007 13:03

Oooh, just had a thought. If Harry dies (nooooo...) then he will be re-united with his parents and Sirius (and DD) which would surely make him happy?
