Is anyone else getting really excited (borderline obsessed)about he new HP book?
I have re-read all the other 6 and everytime I scan down active convos and see "Potty" I heart skips a beat or I hold my breath whilst my eyes focus!!

Please tell me it isn't only me and my DC that are counting the days (hours, minutes, seconds...)

FILCH thank you, how could I forget that?

I thought Petunia said he didn't work to Aunt wotsit because that was the worst thing he could have done, or not, IYSWIM. It confirmed Aunt thingy's opinion of the Potters.

I never have much luck getting the info I want out of JKR's official site, as much as I like it.

DrDaddy · 31/05/2007 20:28

Aunt Marge.

seamonster · 31/05/2007 20:29

I don't know if it is specifically mentioned in the books, however it is something that has (allegedly) been confirmed by JKR.

seamonster · 31/05/2007 20:34

Its all in the 4th one isn't it? The one I've lent to a friend. Aaaarrrggghhh! Doesn't anyone else share my theory about Dumbledore's patronus being the pheonix and that its delivering a message? I thought I was (for once) being quite clever.

Songbird · 31/05/2007 20:39

MARGE, thank you! What is wrong with me?

Songbird · 31/05/2007 20:43

MMnn, maybe James was a man of independent means, ie his family were loaded!

Songbird · 31/05/2007 20:47

Completely unrelated to anything we've talked about, but just read the following on mugglenet, apparently from JKR herself.

'Dean Thomas's father was killed by Death Eaters when he refused to join them. Neither Dean nor his mother know. '

How sad!

Songbird · 31/05/2007 20:48

Ah, and this:

'James Potter inherited lots of money and didn't need a well-paying profession.
James Potter inherited the Invisibility Cloak from his father. '

Bugger, I wanted a juicy reason for all the money!

Songbird · 31/05/2007 20:49

Is talking to yourself the 1st or 2nd sign of madness?

Songbird · 31/05/2007 20:49

1st I think.

Songbird · 31/05/2007 20:50
Grin
Songbird · 31/05/2007 20:51

ooh,

'A few of the Hogwarts professors have spouses, but that information is restricted for reasons we will find out about later.'

I'd wondered about this as well.

seamonster · 31/05/2007 21:13

I'll talk to you! That's where I got my info from.

pudding77 · 31/05/2007 21:36

wow, songbird you've found out a lot!! Btw, I think talking to yourself is the 2nd sign of madness, HP obsession the first

Beckle & MrsW - thanks for the offers of letting me come & watch the film with you , unfortunately I'm in London so would be a fair way to go even for HP! Who knows, maybe I'll persuade dh!

Shrinkinglily · 31/05/2007 21:51

ooh yeah I think Dd patronus is a good idea!

seamonster · 31/05/2007 21:54

So who is he sending it to? His brother? Regulus?

Shrinkinglily · 31/05/2007 22:01

His wife?

seamonster · 31/05/2007 22:04

Very good! Imagine canoodling with that beard.

pudding77 · 31/05/2007 22:11

You know, I'd never thought about some of the teachers have spouses! I'm about halfway through 3 now, have to get a move on cos I cannot, for the life of me, remember anything about RAB/Regulus/DD's patronus!

Songbird · 01/06/2007 08:48

Mmnn, I think Fawkes is just very magical himself, rather than being a patronus. Patronuses aren't corporeal are they? I've got a horrible feeling we won't see Fawkes again, but I hope I'm wrong.

Can't wait for the book to come out (well, obviously!), we'll all be back here going, ah, ok, I was totally wrong about this that and the other

pudding77 · 01/06/2007 09:13

We'll all be making apologies for laughing at those who thought Snape was really Harry's dad

Songbird · 01/06/2007 09:14

Another thing I saw on mugglenet was a response from JKR saying James is definitely harry's dad! So we can hold her to that!

Songbird · 01/06/2007 09:16

I've had another theory. I think DD was at Godric's Hollow the night the Potters died. This would explain how he knows so much about what happened, and how he had the invisibility cloak - he was hiding behind it.

Actually, that's ridiculous isn't it? He wouldn't just stand there and let it happen .

Songbird · 01/06/2007 09:17

Unless he physically couldn't do anything, like the spell he did on Harry on top of the tower. Maybe James or Lily did that to him.

seamonster · 01/06/2007 09:25

I mean songbird that Dumbledore's patronus is a pheonix, not that Fawkes isn't a real pheonix. The theory about him or some one else being there (like Harry in bk6) is v interesting, and would explain perhaps who D came across the cloak in the first place.

Oooh ooh perhaps it was SNAPE!
Yes! That fits doesn't it? D always had something about Snape, we know he felt bad about the whole prophecy thing, perhaps he went to warn them.
