obsessed with Harry P?

MrsWeasley · 09/05/2007 11:38

Is anyone else getting really excited (borderline obsessed)about he new HP book?
I have re-read all the other 6 and everytime I scan down active convos and see "Potty" I heart skips a beat or I hold my breath whilst my eyes focus!!

Please tell me it isn't only me and my DC that are counting the days (hours, minutes, seconds...)

I don't think Harry is a horcrux. DD seemed to think that he meant to make his final horcrux when he killed Harry (as he guessed that V would want to use 'important' killings to create them) but obvioiusly that plan backfired on him a bit. I doubt he managed to make the horcrux as I am guessing the horcrux is made after the killing and not during. Also you can only make one by killing so unless he used Lily or James's death to make one before trying to kill Harry then he wouldn't have made one at Godric's Hollow. DD's theory was that he made Nagini (his snake) into the last one when he killed the old muggle man at the beginning of Goblet of Fire. He said he had an unusual amount of control over the snake even for a parselmouth.

BandofMothers · 29/05/2007 09:33

Agree Beckle, about not being able to make Horcrux after Harry. He turned into mist or some such didn't he. A part being. He will obviously find something at Godric's Hollow, the thing about Lily perhaps. Am re reading from 1 now
Haven't read 1 for ages. So bloody good.
Hope Ginny is in 7. I hope happy ending for Harry and Ginny. They make a lovely couple.
Hermione and Krum, maybe, but what about Ron?? Luna perhaps

pudding77 · 29/05/2007 09:41

Nah, I reckon Luna & Neville! Which suggests to me that Ron may be the one to go...

I do forsee a happy ending with Ginny & Harry!

I've just started 3 which is where I think they get much much better!

Shrinkinglily · 29/05/2007 09:49

Nah, Ron and Hermione must get together surely, it's been building for books and books.

Well I think that if the snake is a horcrux that points to the possibility of a living thing being a horcrux. Remember Harry saw through the eyes of the nake as if he was the snake attacking Mr Weasley I think it was.
I think to make a horcrux you have to do the spell first then the energy of the killing completes the proccess. So I think V intended to make a horcrux of some object (to be found at Godrics Hollow) but it all went wrong maybe because he was making too many horcruxes?

BandofMothers · 29/05/2007 09:58

Good theory about Horcrux.

Yeah Neville and Luna. Definately.

2 months to go til we all find out.

Shrinkinglily · 29/05/2007 11:17

Must reread the bit where V makes a potion to reform himself using Harry's blood. There must be more to that....

hotchocscot · 29/05/2007 11:43

Hogwarts twenty years on:

Hermione is Headmistress, deemed to be smartest and most admirable head since Dumbledore.

Harry is Defence against Dark Arts teacher, legendary defeater of Durmstrang in the annual "Remus Lupin Boggart Blasting Medal".

Ginny, Harry's wife, is Deputy Head (girrl power) and Transfiguration teacher, where she regularly entertains her class by turning into a fire salamander (small & red).

Ron is Care of Magical Creatures teacher, where he has finally cured himself of his fear of spiders by having Aragog's great grandson as a pet (named Wang).

Krum is the Quidditch teacher. He and Ron compete fervently for Hermione's attention, keeping the whole school amused.

Neville is Herbology teacher, where he grows beautiful flowers to present to his wife, Luna, the Divination teacher.

Moaning Myrtle is the librarian. (Well, if Terry Pratchett can have a orangutan, I can have a ghost).

And Draco? shamed by his family's exposure as supporters of Voldemort, the only post he can secure is that of janitor, where he and his two rats (with pudding bowl haircuts and surprisingly long tails) are the most reviled and taunted since Argus Filch.

pudding77 · 29/05/2007 13:35

lol hotchocscot!

becklespeckledfrog · 29/05/2007 14:23

Hehe! Like it Hotchocscot!
Have re-read all of them now, just finished book 6 and now am bored waiting for book 7! Got through them a bit quicker than I thought I would!

pudding77 · 29/05/2007 14:26

I'm a quick reader but still only on book 3! Ahh, you must just ignore your kids beckle

redfairymagic · 29/05/2007 14:40

Am going to start the rerea of all 6 next week once the kids are back at school

Have got book 7 arriving on release day so will be finished them by then.

becklespeckledfrog · 29/05/2007 15:12

I am a super speedy reader Pudding!
(on the other hand it could be that I started re-reading them in January and am not over keen on TV so tend to read in the evenings...)

pudding77 · 29/05/2007 15:18

Fair enough, I'd thought you'd read them all in the last couple of weeks! I've read the first two in the last week, but I'm like you & tend to read in the evenings coz telly is rubbish!

becklespeckledfrog · 29/05/2007 16:02

Hehe! Have just been debating actually whether I've got time to read them all again! Don't like the thought of interupting the flow by reading something different but also don't like the thought of no reading for the next 2 months! First couple took me about a week each I think - you're doing well to do 2 in 1 week!
I do think Neville and Luna will end up together, they seem well suited! I also think Neville will come out of himself a bit more in the next book and perhaps prove to be very good at magic too, he has become more confident in the last couple of books and I think fear/awe of his Grandmother holds him back.
I hope Harry and Ginny get a happy ending too!
Not sure about Hermione and Ron though - they obviously have feelings for each other but I would have thought that Hermione would find after time that Ron's general thickness (in a nice way) got on her nerves, she would crave intelligent conversation!
Can't bear to think of who will die, hope it will be Snape though! Don't think he is really evil but still...
Am sure that Wormtail will turn out to be quite important because he is in Harry's debt from when Harry spared his life. Wonder if he will be at the 'final battle' and help to swing it in Harry's favour?
Oh, and the reason that Dumbledore trusted Snape...Snape said he was sorry!

BandofMothers · 29/05/2007 18:00

Oooh Beckle keep forgetting wormtail's debt to Harry. Hmmm, I think it will perhaps save Harry's life, and maybe Wormey will redeem himself for betraying Lily and James by dying to protect their son???

MrsWeasley · 30/05/2007 23:58

I'm not sure wormtail would be that concerned over his debt to Harry. I think he is scared and repulsed by Voldermort I think he wouldnt have the backbone to betray him.

OP posts:
Shrinkinglily · 31/05/2007 07:09

I agree about wormtail, he is the most lowdown character. I don't even want him to redeem himself, he is dispicable! (Is that how you spell it?)

becklespeckledfrog · 31/05/2007 10:23

I don't think Wormtail would be concerned for Harry but in POA when Harry was mad at himself for letting Wormtail go DD said "Pettigrew owes his life to you. You have sent Voldemort a deputy who is in your debt. When one wizard saves another wizard's life, it creates a certain bond between them..." and then goes on to say that "This is magic at its deepest and most impenetrable, Harry. But trust me...the time may come when you will be very glad you saved Pettigrew's life."
(yes I am sad and did look it up in the book as I couldn't remember exactly what was said!)
That's why I think Wormtail will be very important in the next book! Also, Voldemort doesn't regard old deep magic (ie Love) as important so even if he knows Wormtail is in Harry's debt, I don't think he would think it important.

BandofMothers · 31/05/2007 10:26

Exactly, he may not like that he is in Harry's debt but I think it is something that they have no power over, like Snape saving Harry from Quirrel even tho I'm sure he'd have loved to see him fall. That was because he owed his life to James, not even Harry.

DrDaddy · 31/05/2007 10:54

hi all - I heard on the news this morning that Universal Studios is building a HP theme park in Florida which will include Hogwarts and Hogsmeade amongst other things...I wonder where we'll be going on our hols in a couple of years??!

MrsWeasley · 31/05/2007 11:52

oh right could be right about wormtail then! Am currently re-reading POA at the mo. Have read them all quicker than I thought I would so decided to re-read them again(sad I know but happy sad )

OP posts:
MrsWeasley · 31/05/2007 11:53
