Is anyone else getting really excited (borderline obsessed)about he new HP book?
I have re-read all the other 6 and everytime I scan down active convos and see "Potty" I heart skips a beat or I hold my breath whilst my eyes focus!!

Please tell me it isn't only me and my DC that are counting the days (hours, minutes, seconds...)

I can't wait!! We fly home from a wedding in Ireland on the 21st and I can't imagine there's a book shop in Killarney 'international' airport, so I'll have to wait unitl we get to Dublin. Then DH and I are going to buy as cpoy each as usual and read during our 6 hour wait in the airport for our next flight, we should be finished by the time we land. I'm very of those of you who are going to get them at midnight.

Snape cannot be Harry's dad

I think Harry is in some way related to Godric Gryffindor, as his parents lived in Godric's Hollow, I think Harry will find whatever V intended to make into a horcrux when he returns to his parents home.

Ron WILL NOT DIE!! I cannot entertain the possibility and will put my hands over my ears whenever anyone mentions it, I think it will be Hagrid and Snape that die.

I don't think Harry's eyes are a horcrux, but maybe he will find some magical way to use his own eyes to connect him to his mother in some way.

How many days to go? I bet someone has worked it out

poppy34 · 23/05/2007 18:24

kate - I'm gutted as we're going to be in italy til 30th july (from 18th) so will have to wait

BandofMothers · 23/05/2007 18:32

Unless you can read Italian Poppy

Have just finished my re read, which took a lot less time than I thought it would.

Not so sure about Snape now, but have been wondering if perhaps he made some unbreakable vow with DD. And that's how DD knows that he will not betray him, cos then he would die and he is needed undercover.

So annoying that DD died needlessly tho and find it strange that JKR did that unless there was some other reason for it.
Maybe Petunia will be the one who learns to do magic late in life. The only other squibs mentioned, I think, are Mrs Figgs and Filch so I guess it could be one of those. But also Dudley has magical blood in her if Harry does from the Petunia connection, but I wouldn't call him exactly late in life.

poppy34 · 23/05/2007 18:55

what are chances of me learning enough italian to read it by july ?

the dudley thing could be interesting - wasnt there something in the last book re DD saying that harry had to live with the dursleys til he was through at hogwarts as it protected him. Why was that?

BandofMothers · 23/05/2007 19:01

Because it is a home with his family so the "love" protects him, until he is 17.
I still think Snape made unbreakable vow with DD.

pudding77 · 23/05/2007 19:09

I don't think its Petunia, I reckon its more likely to be Mrs Figg or Filch? Or it could be Stan the bus conductor?!

BandofMothers · 23/05/2007 19:19

Could be pudding, I thought it might turn out quite amusing if it was Petunia as she hates magic so much, and thinks Lily is a freak. The Irony would be hilarious.

pudding77 · 23/05/2007 19:22

btw, the Bloomsbury HP website has a timer - 58 days & 4 hours to the release!

And this if you want to win a chance to meet JK & have your book signed

BandofMothers · 23/05/2007 19:25

I thought rereading 6 would take me nearly to the day but it actually took me away from MN and about 5 days.

pudding77 · 23/05/2007 19:26

ahh, the trick is to reread them all! I've finished 1 and am about to start on number 2. Dh out tonight so I reckon I can get it finished! Speaking of which, must get some dinner & then I can start!

BandofMothers · 23/05/2007 19:31

Haven't got them all. Had them all in US but gave them to a friend cos my boxes were already too heavy and thought I'd buy the UK ones with no annoying spelling mistakes in. But then thought I'd wait til the box set came out and buy a really nice one

BandofMothers · 23/05/2007 19:31

Might start at one again tho now. If I'm quick I can do it.

hotchocscot · 24/05/2007 00:01

Have managed to read book one, two and halfway thru three in five days. My child has been wandering around with weetabix in his hair and drool all down his front. Mind you, so have I.

pudding77 · 24/05/2007 08:51

hotchscot!

pudding77 · 24/05/2007 08:52

oops, sorry meant hotchocscot of course!

Shrinkinglily · 24/05/2007 08:53

58 days ooh it's exciting, I am so looking forward to the book. All my babysitters are HP addicts too though so looks like I'll be ignoring and neglecting my children

BandofMothers · 24/05/2007 08:57

I will have to wait til they are in bed, or I willll be really annoyed at being disturbed and that's a bit mean really.

Shrinkinglily · 24/05/2007 08:57

Kate100, I bet you will be able to get the book at Killarney airport. Last book came out when I was in Youghal co.cork, HP was everywhere!
I think it would be great if Petunia was magic

BandofMothers · 24/05/2007 09:06

I would LMAO.

Do you think Vernon would divorce her???

Shrinkinglily · 24/05/2007 09:10

Maybe she'll accidentally do a spell on him Then Hermione will do a forget everything spell on him and Petunia will lead a double life from then on, housiewifey by day...whacky witch by night!

pudding77 · 24/05/2007 09:10

My dh has got orders to take ds off for the day so I can read it straightaway!

What about if Dudley was magic?! Do you think they'd kick him out?!

BandofMothers · 24/05/2007 09:12

Probably. Or they'd try to get him "fixed"

See my new thread

Steward · 24/05/2007 09:15

Filch will do magic late in life because he is a squib. I am predicting that Voltermort will die and also Harry. I think Harry will kill LV but by doing so will have to sacrifice his own life. If Harry does live he will becaome the Defense Adainst the dark Arts teacher at Hogworts.

I too have re-read all the books ready for when the new one comes out.

BandofMothers · 24/05/2007 09:17

I have thought that. That he'll have to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Good idea about him teaching.[impressed]

pudding77 · 24/05/2007 11:07

It would mean there's definitely no going back to it then is there?!

But, I'm not sure if she could do it, everyone would be so upset!
