This month we're giving you the chance to win TWO copies of We Were Liars - one for you and one for your teen! This gripping tale of a troubled family in New England will give you both plenty to discuss poolside this summer.

We've got 100 copies of We Were Liars to give away to 50 lucky Mumsnetters, so apply for yours now! The giveaway ends on Monday 8 August.

We ask all winners to share their thoughts (and their teen's thoughts) about the book on this discussion thread. However, you don't have to win free copies to take part in the discussion - anyone who has read We Were Liars can post their feedback here (and you can buy a copy of the book now).

Everyone who posts on the thread before 26 September will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 Love2shop voucher.

My daughter loves reading and is really getting back into it over the summer hols after not having time before, with all the exam revision she was doing

kittylover · 08/08/2016 15:46

this books sounds very interesting

popsocks · 08/08/2016 16:07

Would love a copy of this book. We are going on holiday soon, so would be a great poolside read for me and my Daughter.

Clairemike21 · 09/08/2016 21:52

I haven't read it but my 13 year old has, she had a strong emotional reaction when she got to the end, I won't spoil it but she had to go back and read part of it again.

RACHELSMITH45 · 10/08/2016 14:53

really enjoyed this book

kittensmittens12 · 10/08/2016 16:16

I thought this book was beautiful, I read it again straight afterwards and have read it about 5 more times since. I found it haunting and wistful, and I honestly had no idea what the twist was, even when there were clues. I also love the name Cadence, one for the potential baby name list :-)

beckyinman · 10/08/2016 23:29

I'd be up for this!

Littlemisstraveller80 · 11/08/2016 09:14

Isis1981uk · 11/08/2016 14:45

Looks like a great read for any age!

CathBookworm · 11/08/2016 22:01

Absolute page turner, very well written. Don't like to say too much as a lot of the pleasure is from not knowing what's going to happen. Good Summer read.

stewaris · 12/08/2016 09:03

My teenager thought it was a great read and said I should read it. To be honest it isn't really quite my thing although I did enjoy. However, I will be looking out for more from this author for teenage stocking fillers at Christmas and birthday presents.

We Were Liars or We Were Oh So Dull. Sorry but my DD read this a while ago and I am afraid she was totally underwhelmed by this one and nearly DNF. This was due to the clumsy writing style narrated in first person and the unconvincing and improbable twist rushed towards the end.

cookie09 · 15/08/2016 11:30

We Were Liars is an incredible, heartbreaking read that really messes with your mind until the very end. The writing, while not for everyone I'm sure, had me mesmerized. It's so different and poetic and full of carefully crafted imagery. It's a writing style that's really out of the box, you'll either love it or hate it. Me, I was thoroughly compelled.

The plot itself is one you can't talk about or read about as you're bound to find out spoilers. It's the kind of story where the story itself is a spoiler from very early on. There are hints floating in every corner, pieces of this carefully constructed puzzle laid out for you to put together. My advice: go into this with zero expectations and you might find yourself as enthralled as I was! Although it's a twist I have seen before in different variations (and thus I wasn't completely caught off guard by the ending), it never fails to give me goosebumps and sting at my poor heart.

juju3 · 16/08/2016 07:31

looks to be an interesting read

grease · 16/08/2016 14:38

Will be purchasing one for my grandson as it sounds like something he would be interested in reading

toodles60 · 16/08/2016 21:49

This book really wasn't for me. I have a real dislike for the main character and found myself unable to connect to her. The book itself was predictable but the writing itself is excellent. The unconvincing twist in the last few pages was the final let down for me. A thumbs down :(

vonniebab2 · 17/08/2016 16:58

Good interesting book full of twist

maclinks · 18/08/2016 11:39

my bookworm teen would adore this.

RepentAtLeisure · 19/08/2016 22:37

I read this book after it was recommended in a booksandquills video. I started to guess at the big twist early on, but it didn't take away from the writing - fragmented sentences and dreamlike, it does feel like you're reading the narrator's dream part of the time. Like the TV show Mr Robot, you have to go back and experience it again after you know what you know! The only thing that's unanswered for me is why they call themselves liars...

windowmouse · 20/08/2016 08:26

Great book for teenagers and as an adult I also enjoyed the read!
