I thought maybe we should have a thread where if someone sees a kindle deal that they think is really good for a book they have read they could recommend here. That way we can pick up new book recommendations at cheaper prices and grow our to be read list

Haven't read it yet but a few people on the 50 Books threads have recommended The Year of the Runaways, which is currently just £1.99. It was Man Booker shortlisted last year.

Quogwinkle · 19/02/2016 05:55

Today's kindle daily deal has 8 Agatha Raisin novels by M C Beaton. If you like lightweight mystery/crime novels then these are a bargain.

I think the better deal is The Summer Book by Tove Jansson though. That's definitely worth having :)

Matilda2013 · 19/02/2016 07:52

Well I picked up the year of the runaways. Not what I'd usually read but thought I'd give it a try as it sounds interesting!

Will have a look today and see what else catches my fancy

Quogwinkle I have also snapped up The Summer Book. I think I read somewhere that it is now out of print.

574ejones · 20/02/2016 09:19

I have read The Summer Book and it is a great read. Good idea for a thread. I have a dedicated wish list for my kindle which I trawl through every now and then to see if the price is reduced.

574ejones · 20/02/2016 10:06

The Hand That First Held Mine by Maggie O'Farrell is currently 99p

574ejones · 23/02/2016 06:32

Margaret Atwood's The Heart goes Last is a Kindle deal today - this thread is lethal for my bank balance!

Matilda2013 · 23/02/2016 15:58

Thank you for the recommendation Smile sounds very interesting and have added it to my TBR pile!

I just bought Strangers on the Train for £1.49.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/02/2016 19:31

Cote recommended The Janissary Tree. It's 99p and I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far.

Quogwinkle · 26/02/2016 05:51

If you like Jilly Cooper then today's your lucky day - there are eight of her novels in the daily deal!

Grifone · 26/02/2016 07:57

I gave never read Jilly Cooper - which one would you recommend? I am trying to etc and my literary horizons this year 😉

Grifone · 26/02/2016 07:58

Darn phone to expand not to etc and

Quogwinkle · 26/02/2016 10:26

I have to say it's a long time since I have read any but they were all good fun as I recall :)

Feenie · 26/02/2016 16:09

Ridres, Rivals and Polo are good - bit dated now. The rest went steadily downhill as they went along.

SuperScribbler · 26/02/2016 17:58

Jamaica Inn is 99p at the moment.

Grifone · 27/02/2016 19:16

Thanks Quog and Feenie. Ordered Polo in the end - hope it is not too racy for me Wink

Feenie · 27/02/2016 20:55

Oh no, you can't start on the 3rd one, you'll have missed so much brilliant backstory! Sorry, should have explained they are sequential.

DrSeussRevived · 28/02/2016 23:32

An Adele Parks and a Diane Chamberlain today

southeastdweller · 29/02/2016 07:38

The Widow is £1.99 today. I read it last week and really enjoyed it.

Matilda2013 · 29/02/2016 08:06

Ooh thank you I have been waiting for this to drop!

OP posts:
FranKubelik · 01/03/2016 14:26

Great thread - thanks for starting it Matilda. I'm now reading The Widow.

Quogwinkle · 04/03/2016 06:49

Today's kindle daily deal includes Not My Father's Son by Alan Cumming. I read it last year, and recommend it. I don't tend to read many memoirs, but this one was very good.

rewardformissingmojo · 04/03/2016 06:54

Anyone on bookbub? That used to be brilliant for deals, but has fewer and fewer these days.
