Now I know, why it was only £3 - one of those books where nothing would happen like that.

Ok another dire offering - The Quiet Ones - looked great on the cover; wasn't....

StealthPolarBear · 05/03/2016 20:11

The shut eye was actually pretty good I thought :) once I got stuck in.
I'm now on the latest Lingwood barcay, I like them but they're a bit...Dean Koontz. Anyone know what I mean?

StealthPolarBear · 05/03/2016 20:11

Ans will download the things we have in common

stealthkick · 05/03/2016 20:50

Who did The Shut Ete? And yy to Linwood Barclay - sometimes I start them and then realise I've read it

stealthkick · 05/03/2016 21:23

Sorry! Name changed to test the app! Stealthkick is me, Noeuf!

StealthPolarBear · 05/03/2016 21:30

Belida bauer, think that's her name
Linwood b just seems a bit macho to me. Books rend to be good. I remember reading the first one and it seemed new, an entirely new genre

stealthkick · 05/03/2016 22:29

Yes,Linwood Barclay is more Harlan Coben than Sophie Hannah. Different genre but quite good.

StealthPolarBear · 05/03/2016 22:30

Yes definitely harlan coven you're right. More than Dean Koontz. And I think o stopped reading both as they wereso macho and ...I don't know. Linwood is going that way

StealthPolarBear · 06/03/2016 22:37

Just found a huge error in this linwood barclay book. I want to be a proofreader!

stealthkick · 07/03/2016 04:24

Hint?

stealthkick · 07/03/2016 04:24

Is it The Stranger?

StealthPolarBear · 07/03/2016 06:45

No its promise falls. Have you read it?

StealthPolarBear · 07/03/2016 06:46

When I talk about latest I mean in paperback. I realise there's usually a newer one out in hardback!

stealthkick · 07/03/2016 19:37

No I might download it though

StealthPolarBear · 02/04/2016 20:37

Bumping this as I've just found the use of the word "draw" when they mean "drawer" I'm a book I've just read, a proper published paperback.

saltedcaramelhotchoc · 02/04/2016 21:16

Stealth - which book? I've noticed this a lot actually recently!

StealthPolarBear · 02/04/2016 22:34

It's called you sent me a letter
it is part of a quote but the guy saying it is meant to be educated, a lawyer, so I don't think it was deliberate.
I'm getting quite irritated and I'm sure it's getting more frequent. Or am I just reading more trash?

saltedcaramelhotchoc · 03/04/2016 21:51

I didn't like that book. I've also noticed a trend for books to appear to lack editing but sometimes this may be I buy Kindle books which may be self-published. Properly edited books shouldn't have irritating grammar mistakes.

I have also noticed a growing trend for the murderer to turn out to be a dissociative alter ego of the main character/narrator. I'm fed up with it.

StealthPolarBear · 03/04/2016 22:24

Oh I expect it in self published crap, bit it's started creeping in to 'proper' books. I wonder what has changed.

saltedcaramelhotchoc · 04/04/2016 07:41

Yes I agree - it features in books produced by reputable publishing houses too.
Draws is one annoying example.
I also dislike your and you're, the inevitable misuse of commas and principal instead of principle.

StealthPolarBear · 25/04/2016 21:57

I'm on page 88 of the missing by c l Taylor and have found one typo and one grammatical error so far.
