Now I know, why it was only £3 - one of those books where nothing would happen like that.

I have a feeling I might have read sleep tight going to Google

StealthPolarBear · 27/02/2016 23:08

I think I've read that quite a while ago. Was the sister of the missing woman the main character, one who discovered her missing etc?

SouthWestmom · 28/02/2016 07:36

Maybe, so far the husband features a lot. She goes missing after he did and after her parents died.

Salem, so bad it's good? The Amazon reviews definitely discouraged me.

I've read all of Rachel Abbott's books and enjoyed them, some more than others...

SalemSaberhagen · 28/02/2016 21:35

In a way, yes! I want you to read it now so I can see your reaction to the big reveal.

Simon's tortured genius schtick is wearing very thin.

SouthWestmom · 28/02/2016 21:37

Salted that's good. I'm quite liking this one.

Which one is Salem's book?

Btw you must all read Things We Have in Common and then come back and discuss it.

OP posts:
SalemSaberhagen · 28/02/2016 21:52

The latest Sophie Hannah, 'The Narrow Bed'. Tenth (I think) in the Culverhouse detective series.

I'll download Things We Have in Common now. I read the sample of the book you recommended upthread (the Frasiers one) and enjoyed it, so I need to download that too!

SouthWestmom · 28/02/2016 22:15

The Fraser's one is brilliant. Disappointing to read the last pages. The other one is just skin crawly creepy

OP posts:
DrSeussRevived · 28/02/2016 22:19

Oh I'm clearly going to get the narrow bed and then hate myself later.

I'll report back Grin

SalemSaberhagen · 28/02/2016 22:24

Haha please do DrSeuss. It starts so promising!

I'm 92 pages of 418 in of the Things We Have in Common Shock only downloaded it half an hour ago! It's so strange and creepy but also very very good. I have no idea where this is going.

SouthWestmom · 28/02/2016 22:24

Don't! I've just read the Amazon reviews. One (5 stars) received a free copy, one (5 stars) no idea and the other three are dire

OP posts:
SouthWestmom · 28/02/2016 22:25

Excellent Salem. If any wait to hear what you think!

OP posts:
SouthWestmom · 28/02/2016 22:26

I can't

OP posts:
SalemSaberhagen · 29/02/2016 06:39

I had to finish it before I went to sleep Blush. It was so strange! Brilliantly written, but I just have so many questions!

I genuinely struggled to get to sleep straight away, it unsettled me that much.

StealthPolarBear · 29/02/2016 06:40

Sorru which book are uou talking about Salem?
And does sh have another one out already??

SouthWestmom · 29/02/2016 06:46

Salem same here, just so unsettling. Will she be okay??!!

OP posts:
SalemSaberhagen · 29/02/2016 07:15

Sorry stealth I should have said. It's called The Things We Have in Common, Noeuf recommended it. Definitely definitely worth reading!

I'm assuming so as she is the narrator...but I'm still not convinced the story was as she said it was, I think it could be a lot more sinister than that...

SouthWestmom · 29/02/2016 07:20

Yes she's definitely an unreliable narrator, but who is the real bad guy (if there is one?) - I nee to rated it again

OP posts:
SalemSaberhagen · 29/02/2016 10:53

Indeed, is there a bad guy at all? It was so unnerving!

SouthWestmom · 29/02/2016 11:25

Spoiler alert

I did wonder about the sketch book and if she had taken more than she said and burnt it in his garden

OP posts:
saltedcaramelhotchoc · 29/02/2016 12:45

Off to download the intriguing one.

I probably will succumb to the Narrow Bed but not while it is 7.99... The reviews really are bad, and even the good ones refer to the odd plot.

SalemSaberhagen · 29/02/2016 16:04

I think so Noeuf, but then why the change in attitude with him? I NEED ANSWERS!

Please tell us when you have read it salted!

SouthWestmom · 29/02/2016 17:03

I am not sure he did it tbh. Maybe he's a good guy fighting to resist her?

OP posts:
SalemSaberhagen · 29/02/2016 18:38

Hmm perhaps. I want to speak to the author and get some definitive answers!

SouthWestmom · 29/02/2016 18:50

Same here! I shall be looking for more of their work.
I thought it was a straight forward teen type coming of age, troubled kid story but it's really nuanced.
