Look at the movie trailer on IMDB if you get a chance...he's at least a foot too short & is nothing like you would imagine Reacher to be. :( It could have been so good.

(Was going to post in movies...but you'd need to have read the books to know what I'm on about)

I don't dislike Cruise, I thought he was amazing in Magnolia.

I just had someone like Christopher Meloni down for the role, he fits more into my idea of an older double hard b"stard, scarry old lion persona.

Or even Bruce Willis.....

Zombie recalls quite a bit of discussion on here when the casting was first announced. She can't remember anyone thinking it was a good idea.

Reacher reaches parts of me I hadn't expected him to considering he is macho ex-army cop, enormous, gun toting type.
Luckily I think I will be able to avoid watching film by not going to the cinema to see it or buying DVD.
Bring on the next book!

I love the books but will definately not watch the film due to the casting.

New book out on September. Think there is a short story coming out on the kindle in a few weeks.

I dont know why shorty cruise just didnt take the storyline but not use the jack reacher name. It would make a good film but any fan of JR is just going to be .

Right must get to the library and order the next book. I waited 3 months on the list for The Affair.

Noooooo he doesn't fit the description at all, Reacher is big & scary not a short little weasel.

Shall be avoiding the film at all costs.

My DH is gutted about this, he loves the Jack Reacher books. Haven't read them myself but even I can see that a midget small man like Tom Cruise playing someone who's supposed to be about 7 foot tall isn't going to work.

I read somewhere on line that Tom Cruise invested heavily in the film in return for being cast as Reacher

Oh God, Jack Reacher! All I can ever think is how much he must smell, seeing as he doesn't even have a toothbrush, let alone a change of clothes. Yet somehow a beautiful woman always takes pity on him, bathes him, clothes him, and shags him.

I know we're talking fiction here, but sometimes the suspension of disbelief required is too much.

Which one are they doing? not that it matters because they all have the same ludicrous plot

I remember cocolepew and I having a most disgruntled thread when we heard Tom "dwarfman" Cruise was to play the man monster that is Reacher . I luffs Reacher yes I know he isn't real and TC is just so far from how Reacher should be.

It's just wrong wrong wrong on so many levels.

Granted he does wear, and fight in, his clothes for days on end before buying new ones.

Lee Child said something about Reacher's size being symbolic of his power and so Cruise has the power and doesn't need the size. I too am gutted!

Yes Reacher has a travel toothbrush and his personal hygiene is great. I do find his ability to attract women slightly but reckon Lee Child has to add a sex/romance element to keep his books the most saleable to the widest audience and the publisher happy.
