Look at the movie trailer on IMDB if you get a chance...he's at least a foot too short & is nothing like you would imagine Reacher to be. :( It could have been so good.

Yes, I imagine him as a dirty blonde as well. With a bit of a floppy fringe or something you can at least run your fingers through. Arnie is a bit creepy but he is the build (in his younger days) that I think of Jack as having.

Jason stratham is a bit annoying and dors a shockingly bad american accent.
Had not thought about Liam Neeson or Daniel Craig. Ineteresting.
I was just reading something online about LC talking about it at the thriller writers convention. Saying that yes while TC doesn't match the JR desciption, they were not unindated with 6 foot 5, 250lbs actors

Will the films be good though? Half of what makes the books readable is Jack's thought processes and his hunky body. How that is going to translate to film is anybody's guess. Maybe people who haven't read the books will enjoy them more.

Better than an unconcealed shortophobia, LOL. Let's be honest, those of us happier with the idea of Shrek playing Reacher are hardly likely to be bothered about a human, gay or straight provided they are semi-convincing.

I'd imagine that Lee Child means that the rumours about TC's sexuality are what is causing the backlash. Not the fact he is knee-high to a grasshopper.

Its not just about TC height though is it, even if he was 6 foot he would still be a crap Reacher.

Doogie Howser would be better as Doogie Howser. Although I'm struggling to forgive him for the effing Smurfs.

Yeah the janitor from Scrubs would be a much better Reacher than TC! I think the best fit in physical terms would be the actor who was Russell Crows side kick in Gladiator. I forget his name but he's a ex-wrestler and very big. Probably not famous enough for the box office though. If we have to go for a smaller man to get the big name actor then I think Russell Crow himself would be a better bet than TC. He has that rougher look that I think of as Reacher - TC is too much of a pretty boy.

Yes, a friend of mine says she imagines Russell Crowe. I don't really like him, but could handle him being Reacher.

Lee Child wrote Jack Reacher with Lawrence Dallaglio in mind.................(I read it in an interview).

I have been a fan of these books since day 1 and will continue to be but there is no way on God's earth I am going to watch this movie.

The WHOLE SODDING POINT of most of the plot points of the books is that he is tall. Big. Not creepy midget dwarf person.

I always think of Christopher Eccleston in his Doctor Who jacket when I think of Reacher. But I think this is one movie where they could have gone for a completely unknown actor, someone that no-one had ever heard of, and still had a box office smash. As it is, they're going to lose millions of viewers who would just say "no way!" to Tom Cruise.
